That site says 95% chance!!!!! BBC says no though. Wait and see I guess, would be amazing though.

So beautiful out there today, bitterly cold but bright.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 22/02/2018 15:40

It is really lovely and sunny today. I’m off work early Grin

Springiscoming123 · 22/02/2018 16:06

right well im the south coast that Never gets snow but ive ben on netweather for a few days and they reckon this is gonna be very bad with temps and snow

so ive lagged my outside tap and going to do the same with the outside boiler one asi remember yeas ago they were freezing and ive only had this boiler a few years and worried the same may happen

im probably being OTT but the forum has got me a little worried,i am a worrier, and im of to Asda tomorrow to stock up

kitten/gloria am i mad????

GloriaSmud · 22/02/2018 16:56

Springiscoming ~ (great name but no sign of it at the moment!) I'd say not mad at all. I'm rather Shock at what I'm seeing (chart-wise) and from what I'm reading on various forums.

(Just a little note as people stock up ~ can I remind you to feed the birds/wildlife as they're going to find next week/however long the cold spell lasts rather tough.)

GloriaSmud · 22/02/2018 16:58

I'm thinking the metoffice have got to start issuing some weather warnings soon...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2018 17:04

I agree Gloria, the 12z GFS is simply Shock

Springiscoming123 · 22/02/2018 17:13

thanks gloria.my name has been that for a couple months, typical

in my region on Netweather they are going crazy for it and also asking wyy the BBC etc are playing it down

some on NW have been telling people/warning them and have been laughed at

Easilyflattered · 22/02/2018 17:17

Don't worry I bought a new warmer (sensible even) coat today in anticipation after having frozen my nips off all winter, so knowing my luck it'll be 15 degrees Celsius by Monday.

Springiscoming123 · 22/02/2018 17:21

lol,i thought that when i lagged my outside tap

my DP (dont live together) thinks im mad and said it will be coldish till Tuesday

he wont have it

Cerrocoandblack · 22/02/2018 17:29

Yes I was laughed at at work today because it’s sunny outside and “nearly March”

At least there won’t be a run on the shops any time soon!

Cerrocoandblack · 22/02/2018 17:31

When do you think warnings will be issued? It seems a fairly certain now that it’s going to be very very cold at least. Worrying about elderly neighbours who don’t seem to have a clue it’s coming

MadisonAvenue · 22/02/2018 17:31

It's gone bitterly cold since this morning where I am in the Midlands.

GloriaSmud · 22/02/2018 17:41

Cerrocoandblack ~ I think tomorrow or Saturday they'll start being issued and judging by the way things are going, they'll be added to throughout next week.
(I posted this yesterday but there's already a Cold Weather alert issued by the metoffice.)

rainbowruthie · 22/02/2018 18:23

Just wanted to say thank you for this thread and for sharing links and for your expertise
I have a very busy week coming up and could really do without snow!

fortyfourfeasts · 22/02/2018 18:46

OYBBK, I'm off into the Peak District on Monday for 2 nights on a school residential, Met Office have us suffering low temperatures for the duration, but is the weather likely to be disruptive? Snow/ice etc? With it being a bit 'high up' I can't work out what's likely to happen!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2018 19:53

It's really hard to know fortyfour. I feel like we are saying we don't know an awful lot but minor little disturbances can have a big impact on who gets snow and where. I'd certainly be prepared, especially if you are in the eastern side of the Peak district.

I've noticed that some of my lagging is missing, so I'm hoping we can pick some up this weekend.

Netweather still has a 95% chance of snow in London on Monday!

FoodSchmood · 22/02/2018 20:40

We've gone from snow all day every day early next week to nothing. Netweather have the % chance of snow at 0% between now and Monday. I am sulking. I want snow damnit. Really hoping the forecast swings back to snowmageddon...

Springiscoming123 · 22/02/2018 21:02

what area are you food

fortyfourfeasts · 22/02/2018 21:15

Thanks kitten. Am packing lots of warm things! Just hope we can all get back home safely on the Wednesday!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/02/2018 21:48

I'd really not pay much attention to the snow prediction thing. It won't pick up small scale features.

18z GFS out now.

Snow showers Monday Tuesday Wednesday in the east. No idea how far they will penetrate.
Interesting little feature on tuesday shown, zips a small low pressure through the NE and out through Wales. Potential for short term heavy snow on that one.

Then Thursday Friday widespread snow showing. This is getting fairly consistent now. I think these are our main days to worry about.

Unfortunately saturday hasn't rolled out yet, and it's my bed time now.

I've found my lagging and sorted the outdoor pipes out.
