difficult to say how likely snow is in London at this point, but there is a reasonable chance.

GloriaSmud · 21/02/2018 09:18

Latest thoughts from TheWeatherOutlook.
We've got a 'high' of 1C forecast for Monday and Tuesday next week. Brrrr!

megletthesecond · 21/02/2018 09:30

Met office don't have anything exciting forecast for Hampshire for next week, yet.

GloriaSmud · 21/02/2018 10:56

I have a snowflake ~ the metoffice say 6am Tuesday morning. I shall make sure I'm up for it!

This morning's thoughts from Netweather.

GloriaSmud · 21/02/2018 11:02

Precipitation-type charts from this mornings GFS ~ Monday and Tuesday, showers mostly eastern coasts, perhaps a few making it inland.

It was on Twitter uk snow map or something?
I've started my prep at work just in case!

GloriaSmud · 21/02/2018 12:45

The Metoffice have already issued a Level 2 Cold Weather Alert starting Friday morning until Monday, and likely to be reviewed/upgraded.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 21/02/2018 13:18

On Twitter, type in the hashtag and uksnow....it comes up with a lot of info. However... (!!) , this thread is my go to...I don't believe anything anybody else says !!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2018 13:19

GFS comes up with snowmageddon next Friday (2nd) with some snow as Gloria has indicated through Wednesday and Thursday in the East and perhaps further inland.

Massive pinch of salt at the moment (put salt for your driveways on your lists!) but for once the question isn't really our old 'is it cold enough' but rather 'will we get weather features that will bring us snow and how far inland will they penetrate'.

Twitter is populated with a few vocal over exciteable types. I hope that we remain more measured in here.

Think that could be extended to the model thread on the netweather message board as well at the moment. Some posters over that way could do with stepping away from keyboards before punches are thrown!

SunnySeaShell · 21/02/2018 15:04

Oh but it is exciting though!

MrSlant · 21/02/2018 15:33

We wouldn't be British if we didn't get over excited about a bit of weather!

notsomanky · 21/02/2018 15:39

Sadly there seems no reason to get excited here!

Nary a snowflake expected this fr across the Pennines!

Springiscoming123 · 21/02/2018 18:20

try living in the very far south we havent had a snow day for years

but we do have a half decent summer most years

hopefully the South may have a flurry or two

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2018 18:37

you've had a bit haven't you manky?
I've been in a snow desert this year. (and for a few years now)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 21/02/2018 18:57

Interestingly the 12z GFS has a rapid break down of the deep cold on Saturday 3rd. Too early to say whether it's an outlier or the beginning of a trend.

Watching with interest... I had no idea that this was on the way!

Sunflowersandsnow · 21/02/2018 19:30

OYBK, sorry what does that mean?

notsomanky · 21/02/2018 19:47

OYBBK, we got a little, but nothing more than 1cm and it didn't last more than a day when we had it. Not enough for snow men or snowballs!

We have had more fall than the last few years but nothing that really stayed - it snowed for 3 hours a couple of weeks ago and didn't lie at all!!
