Met office warnings

Nothing exceptional, but it is early and trees are in full leaf so are vulnerable. 3 days of strong winds in various places coming up. Tomorrow night into Wednesday we could see gusts to 70mph across northern Wales and northern England. It could be pretty disruptive.

Oh no - and I just committed to the camping out on the island last night (for Saturday night)! THat's what happens when I answer emails while half out of it with a cold (which is much better today as I did stay in bed all day yesterday).

I guess I will have to just make sure I bring the decent waterproofs, and have a second spare dry outfit in the car for when I get ashore.....

(The delta pegs did arrive though, and I picked up my smaller, lower tent, so I am hopeful that I will stay protected!!)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/09/2017 13:00

well done Biddy! It sounds like you have the right kit anyway.
It won't feel especially cold, so when thinking of waterproofing up, also, think not lots of hot layers!

by keeping an eye on it... means following oybbk's threads... Blush (lazy me)

but am keeping an eye on the warnings as we are not in them weirdly.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/09/2017 15:59

Oh the pressure!

the shape of the warning area has changed.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 29/09/2017 13:25

warnings it has, west country is out of it now, but there are added wind warnings too.

Confused Shock

I'm looking between YR, Met Eireann and the UK Met Office - torn between excitement and horror, and currently re-thinking not leaving a car handy for evacuation.....(not that we can evacuate once it gets dark, too many rocks unless the RNLI and/or coastguard helicopter come along with their searchlights).....

I'm sure it will be a very quiet night in the end......

earplugs will help Biddy Grin

rain warnings have disappeared... Confused

GloriaSmud · 30/09/2017 15:40

Weather seems to be all over the place for us. We were forecast to have a nice Saturday with overnight/tomorrow not looking so good. Now the forecast is for heavy rain (and it has just started raining here in Leicester) the rest of today and dull/chance of odd shower tomorrow.

BlackeyedSusan · 30/09/2017 18:31

yep. supposed to be nice here too and I have a soggy boy upstairs. does not seem to stop him.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/09/2017 19:43

It seems to be a really difficult interaction of systems to predict. met office

Beautiful summy calm day for last day of boating.

Still decent weather.

But small craft warnings for overnight gales means camping cancelled - I was actually looking forward to it rather!

They just went for an afternoon picnic instead but I had a school thing.

But Cubs enjoyed their day boating, and older Scouts enjoyed their picnic and we have no emergency calls to the coastguard tonight! 😅

BlackeyedSusan · 03/10/2017 07:00

"tomorrow evening their could be severe gales over the central swathe of the British Isles"

weather forecast on Today. (R4)

fabulous.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 03/10/2017 07:31

oh yeah, possibly Blackeyed, but by no means certain. It shows as a little kink on gfs I think, but very few other hints that I can see. No warnings out either. Let’s check at midday to see if any warnings are released.

GloriaSmud · 04/10/2017 11:48

Weather warning for wind. Looks like it's going to be rather wet as well.
Oh joy.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 04/10/2017 12:58

gosh, that’s quite a late warning. It shows how difficult this one was to forecast.

OP posts:
BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2017 06:54

when was that issued?

heard it was windy last night but had no idea there was a warning.

BlackeyedSusan · 05/10/2017 06:56

looks like whats his name on tuesdays weather forecast was right then!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 10/10/2017 07:45

Somewhat the opposite of autumn gales this coming weekend, some could see temps into the low 20’s.

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 10/10/2017 20:05

..but a weather warning for heavy rain over N Wales/Lake District way for tomorrow.

Yay, for some nice warm weather this weekend though ~ 'tis the start of the 1/2 term holiday for us.

perhapstomorrow · 12/10/2017 11:19

I apologise for this link. My dh just sent it to me. Is there a possibility of a hurricane?

www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-4973004/Could-HURRICANE-coming-Britain.html

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/10/2017 14:51

Ex-Ophelia will be affecting our weather, it’s common for this time of year for remnants of hurricanes to hit us. Warm weather over the weekend then possible 50-60mph winds perhaps touching 70mph gusts in places.

At the moment the met office warning area is very widespread here along the west coast. I expect they will refine it by Monday.

There are also rain warnings out for overnight into tomorrow for part of the NW again.
