Met office warnings

Nothing exceptional, but it is early and trees are in full leaf so are vulnerable. 3 days of strong winds in various places coming up. Tomorrow night into Wednesday we could see gusts to 70mph across northern Wales and northern England. It could be pretty disruptive.

I doubt it will be too bad here, for some strange reason where I live, we always seem to miss the big storms or really strong winds etc.

I will have a look on the website and see if there are any warning for where I am.

MusicToMyEars800 · 12/09/2017 10:22

No warnings for my location.

RatOnnaStick · 12/09/2017 10:24

Beware far SE? Bum. That means DS1 will refuse to sleep in his own room as his sloping roof makes the wind much louder.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 10:25

I confused you lionheart, sorry! great link though :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 10:28

Rat is he the sort that once asleep he stays asleep? rain moves into your area around 8pm ish with peak winds probably after midnight.

OP posts:
RatOnnaStick · 12/09/2017 10:48

Nooooo. No chance of that. The wind will either stop him going to sleep or wake him. Absolute certainty of him spending the night in our bed.

Puffpaw · 12/09/2017 10:50

Thanks oybbk I always read your threads even if I don't post, very interesting

MrSlant · 12/09/2017 11:10

Yay, football and rugby tonight, going to be lovely Grin.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 11:28

Rats Rat! oh dear. Perhaps it won't be too bad.

Puff - no problem at all :) I'm aware that I have to ramble on a fair bit to keep the post bumped when severe weather is possible, so the occasional little post to bump for me is always appreciated.

IsletsOfLangerhans · 12/09/2017 11:53

I often lurk on your threads OYBBK - thank you for your input! I am spending the afternoon battening down the hatches here and at my parents (on holiday) - we are in the amber warning area near the Humber 😬

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 12:10

Good luck Islets :)

It's not a major storm, though places that do see gusts of 75mph will certainly know about it. The issue is that with trees in full leaf branches and weaker trees will come down easily. Gusts of 40-50mph can bring down large branches in full leaf.

Thanks OYBBK. I'm in south Yorkshire with a funeral tomorrow afternoon on a exposed hill.. I'm guessing I need my umbrella?! ( Which might be blown away lol)
I love your threads and I love Autumn Smile

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 13:55

thanks :) sorry about the funeral. By tomorrow afternoon you should be down to heavy blustery showers.

The worst of the winds will be through pretty quick tonight.

Errrr are you on the wrong thread lion??

Storm tonight has now been given a name: Aileen

Cue umpteen come on Aileen jokes.....

lionheart · 12/09/2017 16:26

Ha, yes I am. Don't know how that happened. Never posted on weather in my life. Best skulk back to the rabble.

Smile
Puffpaw · 12/09/2017 16:28

Noted.
Listens to wind picking up outside...

Berrybakecake1 · 12/09/2017 16:38

My heart runs on the solstice/equinox clock so im not in Autumn yet (hides behind cushion waiting to be berated for this silly notion).
I Love Autumn. Cannot wait for the crisp, colourful days. 🍁🍂

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 18:41

No real changes to the latest model run, perhaps a bit less of a squeeze on the isobars in the SE now for the early hours.

bump in case anyone wants to blunder around their garden in the pitch black tidying up Grin

OP posts:
GloriaSmud · 12/09/2017 20:41

So they did name this one in the end. Have found the list of storm names for 2017/18.

Think the only things that will be blundering around in my garden in the dark, are the couple of hedgehogs I have that visit! I am though keeping an eye on my 7-8ft sunflower at the corner of our conservatory, which is already waving about in the wind. I perhaps should have done a bit more propping up of that but as it's chucking it down, I'm not heading out there now!

Bravas · 12/09/2017 21:05

I love your threads too, thank you Flowers.

Looking forward to snow watch this year, last winter was rubbish.

MusicToMyEars800 · 12/09/2017 21:05

The winds have picked up here in the SE, and heavy rain is forecast for tonight and tomorrow morning, I hope it's not raining for the school run Grin It's pretty chilly too.
