Met office warnings

Nothing exceptional, but it is early and trees are in full leaf so are vulnerable. 3 days of strong winds in various places coming up. Tomorrow night into Wednesday we could see gusts to 70mph across northern Wales and northern England. It could be pretty disruptive.

Storm Brian sounds funny. Grin

Bit damp here (Bedford), but not too breezy yet.

My parents live in the small intersection between the amber warning for wind and the yellow warning for rain. So I guess they'll be getting the brunt of Aileen.

OublietteBravo · 12/09/2017 21:32

If they replace Harvey in the name list for Atlantic hurricanes (seems likely ), then I really hope they pick Hunter as the replacement name. 'Hurricane Hunter' would be an awesome name Grin

MrSlant · 12/09/2017 22:03

Really breezy here, lights flickering (stupid rural network) and windows bumping (stupid old sash windows). I'd forgotten what it was like.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 12/09/2017 22:06

Bit of a shock this autumn lark. I would quite like to know what happened to the bit where it gets nice when they go back to school.

I know, my Indian summer where all the tourists have gone, the sea is at it's warmest and we get to have a lovely month. 2 hours in the rain at training and I've ended up putting the heating on. Not on UK weather, not on at all.

ItsNachoCheese · 12/09/2017 22:35

I have a driving lesson tomorrow... in the pishing rain by the sounds of it. Yaaay.... 😂

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 12/09/2017 22:39

Breezy now here in WMidlands/Warwks.

ErrolTheDragon · 12/09/2017 22:41

Storm Brian sounds funny.

Storm Brian sounds as though it'd turn out to be dull drizzle in Hull.

gttia · 12/09/2017 22:57

Sounds really windy outside here, se (north Kent) and it's so cold the hive has kicked the heating on.
This time last year I think it was 30 degrees if I'm not mistaken?

JillJ72 · 12/09/2017 23:00

Yay to OYBBK and GloriaSmud!

We've had some rain in N Bucks. It's becoming quite blowy now and the cat is out 😳. Expecting to wake to the dulcet whistling of wind in the bedroom at some point. The heating is not on yet.... yet..... but by golly autumnal weather's just plonked herself on the sofa without so much as a polite goodbye to summer. Brrrrrrrr.

Looking at twitter it seems that there are a fair few trees down on rail lines. Highest gust was 74mph, with quite a few 60mph gusts. So nothing major, just generally misbehaving trees.

IsletsOfLangerhans · 13/09/2017 07:34

A few trees fallen onto roads near us (E Yorks) but winds dying down now.

Spudlet · 13/09/2017 08:37

It's blown one of our garage windows out, although it was a bit loose anyway. Replacing it has just been kicked up the list of jobs 🙄

Don't think we'll be cycling to playgroup this morning either Sad. I do so love my Wednesday morning jaunts, but we have to take a national speed limit road through totally open fields, it's just too risky with ds on the back. Boooo.

BiddyPop · 13/09/2017 12:17

I had an interesting flight home from Brussels to Dublin last night over the UK - the first time in many years that I felt queasy from a flight as it was pretty bumpy and shifty all the way. Lots of rain and wind to drive through on the way home as well.

DH has probably also had an interesting flight this morning to the UK - and he IS prone to airsickness so was looking for a spare sick bag to take with him. He's coming home tomorrow night, so hopefully it will have calmed down for him then.

I am just hopeful that we have some blackberries left in 3 weeks for the annual Cub Scout blackberrying expedition (they pick whatever they can see, and we stew those to serve with icecream before they go home - its the first session after we finish boating every year and much loved!).

HemanOrSheRa · 13/09/2017 12:26

I'm in Bristol - it was VERY windy here last night. Neighbour's huge garden gate got blown off at about 2am. I heard that go! And lots of other bumps, bangs and crashing noises. I was on call last night and spent most it praying I didn't have to go driving across the city Confused.

We had blue sky and sunshine first thing then it clouded over and it's been raining heavily this on and off. The wind has whipped up again.

Misty9 · 13/09/2017 12:34

We're in norwich and it's very windy here still. Last night was very noisy and lots of banging doors and blinds from draughts. Our garden is having work done and they're not even attempting tomorrow with the rain forecast! I was going to start cycling to work tomorrow too Confused

OhYouBadBadKitten · 13/09/2017 13:13

sounds like a bumpy night for some! We have a calmer spell, then I'm keeping an eye on what happens towards the end of the month.

Misty9 · 13/09/2017 14:42

Thunder here now! Exciting...if I didn't have to do school pick up soon Grin

BiddyPop · 13/09/2017 15:34

I got caught in a torrential, out of nowhere, rainshower while out over lunch.

There was sunshine before I even got back to the office again, and there are now mixed low grey clouds, high white clouds and blue patches in the bit of sky outside my small window.

MrSlant · 13/09/2017 22:12

Dear god I have just driven home through rain so torrential if I hadn't been on a narrow country road I'd have stopped the car and waited it out. I've had better visibility in severe fog and the road was an inch deep at least river. I might have a glass of wine. (Travelling east to west across south Wales).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/09/2017 09:12

I can see hints of a fairly wild start to October starting to show in the GFS model. Long way off yet though.

Are you saying I should really fix that leak in my roof this month OYBBK? Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 17/09/2017 14:44

Might be a good idea Grin
