The UK won’t get totality but depending on where you are, 80-90% of the sun should be covered. More info here.
Let’s hope for clear skies!

getting darker now in Ayrshire, again nothing dramatic, just noticed would need to turn lights on inside

OwlCapone · 20/03/2015 09:32

It's not even very dark. No darker than a cloudy day but it is a slightly strange light.

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 20/03/2015 09:33

Birds are swooping down to rooftops and ariels here.

Donthate · 20/03/2015 09:34

We are at total totality here. 95% coverage and the clouds moved just at the right time. It isn't actually dark outside but cold and very quiet.

bonkersLFDT20 · 20/03/2015 09:34

Essex - birds still chirping, gloomy and very cold. If I didn't know it was an eclipse I wouldn't think anything of it. I demand a refund!

OstentatiousBreastfeeder · 20/03/2015 09:35

That should be aerials for TV, not Ariels the mermaids.

OwlCapone · 20/03/2015 09:35

In the eerie half light, zombies are rising up through the ground...

RoonersisNOTRoonerspism · 20/03/2015 09:36

Our chickens are acting like their usual bastard selves Grin

It's just quite dark, too much cloud cover to see anything of the sun.

RoonersisNOTRoonerspism · 20/03/2015 09:36

Owl Grin

I was expecting it to be a bit darker than a normal cloudy day Sad.

Halloweenywooh · 20/03/2015 09:37

This is the best one I got before 9.30

I've had a good view in Leicestershire. I've just taken 6yr DD into school. We drew the eclipse as we saw it and she is really proud of her sheet of drawings with timings and has taken it into school. Its gone really cold though and the brightness is quite eerie.

InfinitySeven · 20/03/2015 09:39

There's not much happening here.

I stood out by the pond...I thought that'd be a popular place to view it but there's no one in my village out, unless everyone can see from their garden.

It's quite cloudy I suppose but it's stayed so bright! Definitely no street lights etc.

LaurieFairyCake · 20/03/2015 09:40

It's not dark here at all in hertfordshire

Just overcast

We got nothing Confused

girlynut · 20/03/2015 09:41

Nothing happening here in Brighton. Just like a normal gloomy day. What an anticlimax. Sad

Newbiecrafter · 20/03/2015 09:42

Strange light here, but very cloudy.

We're just outside SW London, so I'm guessing this is going to be as dark as it gets?

There were lots of birds flying around earlier, landing on trees. Then none flying and can now hear them singing so does that mean we've gone past the maximum?

Very cool and eerie. Really Good images on the BBC.

Xxx

OurGlass · 20/03/2015 09:42

Nothing here. Boo!

The clouds broke for just long enough for a quick view of the eclipse! Of course, I rushed out with my pinhole camera, lined it up carefully, then realised I'd left my reading glasses inside and it was all a blur Grin

lovesmycake · 20/03/2015 09:43

Very cloudy here in Bergen but also very very dark, no-one in my office gives a monkeys!!

RingtheBells · 20/03/2015 09:44

Watching the BBC now with the brilliant pictures from the plane. I did manage a glimpse at home through breaks in the clouds, sad it was cloudy in the Faeroes.

Halloweenywooh · 20/03/2015 09:45

Returning back to normal now. Amazing experience!

After saying it was cloudy- we've just had an amazing view in the South West! My mum told me to look outside at 9.23 and sure enough at that second, a thin sliver crescent was visible through the clouds, like an upside-down smile.

It was very strange to see in a sky of clouds. It's now turning out quite sunny and everything is visble (didn't have the glasses but took a chance given it was misty/cloudy the whole time)

Sorry to those not able to see anything, my children were disappointed when they went to school- I would have kept them off if I'd thought we were going to see it but it was so cloudy I sent them in- hope the school rushed them all outside for a look (as I say, no danger of being dazzled in the first ten min, now you would need glasses/camera).

OhYouBadBadKitten · 20/03/2015 09:46

I'm proper overtired as I sobbed when it went total on the bbc. It was beautiful.

Newbiecrafter · 20/03/2015 09:46

This might be a silly question' but does anyone else feel very emotional.

I'm watching with my eyes welling up. Blush

Also woke up in a bit of a mood. Not sure if that's to do with this or totm. Confused
