The UK won’t get totality but depending on where you are, 80-90% of the sun should be covered. More info here.
Let’s hope for clear skies!

FelixFelix · 20/03/2015 08:11

Cloudy here in W Yorks Sad

Will be walking to play group at 9.30 which will be odd! Will it be really dark or still light enough to see? That's probably a really stupid question Blush

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/03/2015 08:12

You are not the only one, lovelyclaycup.

I'm ridiculously excited and no one in real lfe cares. At all. Sadly despite being in the sw I don't think I'm going to be able to see anything.

Have you all seen this? www.met.reading.ac.uk/outreach/newex_2015/index.html

Not very hopeful that cloud cover is going to be anything but totally overcast.

TheWoollybacksWife · 20/03/2015 08:16

Sunshine and mostly clear skies here

DS has been given the option of staying home to watch and go into school late (authorised by the school) or go in at normal time and watch a live broadcast with his friends in the hall. Guess which he's chosen? Still, it means I get the eclipse glasses all to myself Grin

Gloria DD1 is at the uni event in Vicky Park. It obviously takes a major solar event to get a student out of bed before noon when they don't have lectures. It may also be the free bacon butty she has been promised Wink

magimedi · 20/03/2015 08:18

Thick cloud here on SE coast - most disappointed.

Archfarchnad · 20/03/2015 08:18

We have amazing clear skies here in Berlin, but are only going to get 75% cover because we're further south than the UK. It's due to start in 15 minutes, at it's strongest in an hour or so.

I've tested out my colander on a sheet of paper and it works wonderfully.

DD1 will be flying from Germany to Gatwick for the entire duration of the eclipse, but we suspect the cabin crew will insist all the blinds are drawn.

imjustahead · 20/03/2015 08:18

thick cloud Devon

CocktailQueen · 20/03/2015 08:20

ThisFenceIsComfy · 20/03/2015 08:21

Completely cloudy here. How disappointing

Perihelion · 20/03/2015 08:23

Trying to blow cloud away here as we won't see much at the moment. Sun has been peaking through

GloriaSmud · 20/03/2015 08:35

Started here (Leicester) just a little bit taken out of the sun.
Woollybacks ~ it's the bacon butty that did it!

Wavered over keeping dd3 home to watch as she won't see it at school (nursery class too high risk!)
Dd1 was in my tummy last time. Now she's on work experience!

InfinitySeven · 20/03/2015 08:37

I'm in the W.Midlands. Had been preparing myself for poor weather all week but it's actually brightened up quite a bit!

I had a contact lense check in Vision Express yesterday and the number of people who came in asking for glasses clips. They kept repeating that they don't recommend anyone look at the sky.

I guess I'll go and stand outside and watch it get dark, though!

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 20/03/2015 08:37

Sun?(London) What sun? Do bacon butties make the clouds go away?

atticusclaw · 20/03/2015 08:39

Bright sunshine here (for now)!

RatOnnaStick · 20/03/2015 08:39

Envy of everyone who doesn't have thick low cloud. I can just about see where the sun is but there are at least two layers of cloud covering, the lower one is verging on mist.

Never mind. I saw the 99 eclipse over Capel cliffs and it was perfectly clear then.

HSMMaCM · 20/03/2015 08:42

Cloudy in Berkshire. Remember trying to get DD excited about the eclipse when she was a baby and she fell asleep. She's not going to notice it this time either.

RingtheBells · 20/03/2015 08:42

Cloudy in Northants, but sun is visible and just saw it a bit using my glasses from the 1999 eclipse, hoping cloud breaks up more.

Lovelyclaycup · 20/03/2015 08:43

Just got back school run and will venture out in the garden with a Brew

madhairday · 20/03/2015 08:43

Bright sunshine here in Shropshire, excited! not sure what dcs schools will be doing.

RingtheBells · 20/03/2015 08:45

Sun out in Northants, not for long I suspect.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/03/2015 08:47

It's trying to brighten up. Hoping it isn't going to be cloudy for too much longer. Brief glimpse of sunshine coming through a thinner patch in the cloud just now.
