I'm starting this discussion because I was in danger of hijacking the Icelandic volcano thread. I started using the Mila Icelandic webcams to watch the eruption at Holoraun (the Bardabunga webcams), but lately I've seen the aurora borealis quite a few times on the other webcams, particularly the Thingvellir webcam www.livefromiceland.is/webcams/thingvellir/, although the lights can be seen sometimes on the Hekla and Jokulsarlon ones.

Another OP posted a link to the Hotel Ranga aurora cam, which is here: www.hotelranga.is/northern-lights/northern-light-webcam/

I am posting a couple of pics below for comparison to get you started. The first is a lovely aurora shot at Thingvellir from September, then a more blurry one from last night and a normal dark evening shot.

If you can find any other lovely aurora cams please post links (and pics) below. Happy hunting!

Oh yes. 'Tis a good start to the evening.

It's quite pretty on the north Finland camera at the mo, but impeded by snow splatter on the camera lens. I'll keep an eye out to see whether I can get a clear shot.

Just found another live sky cam - at Abisko Skystation in the far north of Sweden.

What I particularly like about that camera is that you can just make out a person in the foreground. It has a restaurant with viewing area for the aurora.

Abisko again. I'm probably getting close to my daily limit now, so follow the link for more - it is refreshing frequently and saving pictures.

Stunning!!

GloriaSmud · 15/11/2014 19:45

That is a really eerie light on the North Finland one but still very pretty.

DustBunnyFarmer · 15/11/2014 19:45

Get over to the Abisko sky station Kitten - the last few pictures have been jaw-dropping. I'm all out of pictures for today, so can't post any more.

I tried to get a picture of the really bright Aurora on the Abisko webcam (on the Service Aurora website) and couldn't get it timed right and just got a dull glow on the right hand side.
Things seem to have quietened down for the moment.

DustBunnyFarmer · 15/11/2014 20:04

Try here: www.auroraskystation.se/live/ It has a stream of the photos under the current shot - fill your boots!

I think it must be fisheye of the same area on the main EU camera site. The sky station link is a shot of the open land/skyscape.

Ooo very nice.
Not a lot to be seen in Iceland at the moment but there are some nice Aurora photos on the HotelRanga website from midnight time.

DustBunnyFarmer · 15/11/2014 20:18

Yay, I've been allowed another photo.

The good camera is offline (typical) so that's from www.ronnmurrayphoto.com/NorthernLights-AuroraCamera/AlaskaAuroraCam

Is it tonight we're expecting a goid show after a CME a couple of days ago?

Thanks Badger - really useful to see real time footage as DH and I been debating the speed of the changes.

Great show on Ron Murray's Alaskan webcam at the mo.
