Armchair aurora watching

I'm starting this discussion because I was in danger of hijacking the Icelandic volcano thread. I started using the Mila Icelandic webcams to watch the eruption at Holoraun (the Bardabunga webcams), but lately I've seen the aurora borealis quite a few times on the other webcams, particularly the Thingvellir webcam www.livefromiceland.is/webcams/thingvellir/, although the lights can be seen sometimes on the Hekla and Jokulsarlon ones.

I am posting a couple of pics below for comparison to get you started. The first is a lovely aurora shot at Thingvellir from September, then a more blurry one from last night and a normal dark evening shot.

Ay caramba, Tromso! With these glorious lights, you are really spoiling us! (Which is just as well because all the other cameras on that site are a bust this evening.)

They are firing up the brazier in north Finland at the mo - must be aurora chasers staying this week.

It's not quite Abisko 2 nights ago, but lucky tourists!

Porjus camera is back & there are clear skies at Abisko, Svalbard, Tromso and north Finland. All in all, a promising evening.

I'm disappointed to see that the Porjus camera has been brought indoors and there is now a reflection on the glass marring the view. I found the original link and they have a better northern lights/sky camera on the site at: uk.jokkmokk.jp/detail_nr5.shtml

Good display going on at Abisko and Tromso at the moment.

I'm liking the purple/green curtain effect at Svalbard just now. Shame it refreshed and got blurrier before I could snapshot it.

I think things have quietened down for the moment except at Svalbard, where it seems to have started up in the last few minutes!
