3 MORE weeks Sad

Yes, quite a bit less rainfall than feared for the upper Thames. Thames levels falling in Oxfordshire, wonder when today's rain will stop that?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 11:37

There are some tiny hints of improvement ihatethecold with the models showing a developing high pressure over Europe, but I dont know if it will be sustained.

The position of very strong winds the bbc grapics are showing does reflect the latest models. expect the amber areas on the MetO website to move north over northern Wales and the north Midlands and parts of northern England.

The snow is coming quickly in this system!

Ugh! Just given up working outside today as a bad job when a torrential storm of rain and hail with gusty wind hit.Now it is snowing heavily.

HesterShaw · 11/02/2014 11:43

THREE BLOODY WEEKS? Angry

Piss off weather.

HesterShaw · 11/02/2014 11:44

On the plus side, it's a nice sunny day today. Sun is streaming through my newly clean windows. I can pretend spring is here for a couple of hours

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 11:47

It doesnt look as stormy as we go into next week, so although wet, wind looks to be less of an issue.

Some of you will find the water situation reports interesting. I normally hang around on those pages during drought!

GloriaSmud · 11/02/2014 11:56

Seem to be alternating between mahoosive and small snow flakes at the moment but none of it's settling. It'll be over your way, Mirage in about 20 minutes! (Think from memory, you're over Rutland way?)

SnakeyMcBadass · 11/02/2014 12:11

Sun is out now. This weather is utterly bonkers.

mankyscotslass · 11/02/2014 12:13

That link is rally interesting OYBBK - It also seems to bear out what the United Utilities man said last year about the Greater Manchester area being drier that usual.

But I am Shock looking at some of the rainfaull amounts the south of England has had!

BlackeyedSusan · 11/02/2014 12:17

sunshine now too.

flootshoot · 11/02/2014 13:02

North Surrey here. Ok for now but DS now off school all week as it's in Wraysbury and they're having a hell of a time of it. Several friends are flooded out or marooned in their houses. Nightmare.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 13:20

The nightmare spreads flootshoot :(

updated warnings

Unfortunately its almost the worst blend for the SW with both the high winds and the rain for tomorrow. Note the extension of the amber areas.

Also dont be surprised if the track changes again, a significant number of gfs ensembles are going for a more southerly track. link if it works

OP posts:
HesterShaw · 11/02/2014 13:59

At least there's no spring tide.

I guess :(

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 14:03

When is the next one Hester?

OP posts:
HesterShaw · 11/02/2014 15:00

Erm...next I guess. Don't know how high though.

LostInWales · 11/02/2014 15:10

Hmm, I like those lovely coloured models in your link OYBBK, although whichever one I look at it seems that it is going to be rather windy at my house tomorrow. Ah well.

flootshoot · 11/02/2014 15:31

OYBBK when I buy my next house (renting at the mo) can I please ask your opinion about its location?? Seems every thread I read people are either under water, losing power etc.

denialandpanic · 11/02/2014 15:38

flootshoot you can check any postcode on the ea website and then xoom in to the exact location.my criteria when moving were not in any type of flood zone whatsoever

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 15:38

Now there's a business venture I hadnt thought of! hmmm......

I'd send everyone who doesnt like snow to Manchester and those who dont like lightning to Scotland. Everyone who likes snow can go to Buxton. For sunshine Bournemouth. Don't like flooding - head for the tops of the hills. Dont like wind head for London or east of the pennines.
If you like floods and high winds head for the SW or parts of Wales. If you like lots of rain then naturally the lake district.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 15:39

next which Hester? Grin

OP posts:
denialandpanic · 11/02/2014 15:40

but to be honest you also need to be on the look out for drainage issues, groundwater flooding etc. There are areas flooding at the moment that have never flooded so you can never be certain except maybe at the top of a hill. most borough council websites have nifty what's in my area search tools on website, generally on planning page showing all constraints flood, drainage channels etc

OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 15:42

Latest run of gfs is consistent with the met office warnings.

I'll start a new thread this evening. That isnt a good thing.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 11/02/2014 15:48

I am wondering if we might see a little snow over Dartmoor tonight as well as Welsh hills, pennines etc. Possibly just about over the chilterns too.
