Right so lets work out who is likely to be hit first with this storm.

I'm in Salisbury, I'm sure there are folk far more southwestern than me.

Its still okay here, cloudy and windy but not really windy and certainly not squally

Well, we're not supposed to be getting the storm up here, save the top end of the rain, tonight, but it's bloody windy. Got pelted in the ear by a flying blueberry leaf, today. Smarted, it did.

Helenagrace · 27/10/2013 16:16

35m waves ShockShockShock

Southern railways have cancelled everything tomorrow before 9am. No commuting to London for lots of people then! Gay wick Express also not running.

Geckos48 · 27/10/2013 16:17

How are things your way starfish

Meglet · 27/10/2013 16:20

Last nights gusts have already taken a couple of branches down and blown around a building site near me. I'm guessing that the combination of scaffolding, building site and large panes of glass is going to be a bad mix tonight.

That wave buoy is reporting in feet, not metres! Still wouldn't fancy being out there, though.

QuintsHollow · 27/10/2013 16:27

some airlines are still selling flights out of Gatwick tomorrow...

TeamEdwooooooo · 27/10/2013 16:27

Hastings checking in here, from other thread. Beautiful morning, but now grey, grim and getting very blustery.
Everything is tied down and we've checked on elderly neighbour and put her bins in the garage.
If you have a needy neighbour, please check they are ok!

Geckos48 · 27/10/2013 16:27

We have had a few gusts which were quite strong but we seem to be getting calmer now. We are pretty far inland so maybe we will not get the worst of it.

Keep us posted starfish I reckon anything you will get, we will get later!

Geckos48 · 27/10/2013 16:28

Just about to light the fire for the evening.

The bbc weather link www.bbc.co.uk/weather/2635167 seems to think it will hit around 2 am

DebrisSlide · 27/10/2013 16:32

I was just looking at the passageweather wind charts - it looks like there might be another hefty storm for next weekend too.

BerryLellow · 27/10/2013 16:33

We seem a bit nonchalant here - I'm on the North Coast of Cornwall. Lots of people dog walking on the beach. It's not really cold at all, DP and DS1 had a quick paddle Hmm

Think I'd better hunt out some candles etc just in case!

TheDoctrineOfAnyFucker · 27/10/2013 16:35

Marking place on new thread.

squirkle · 27/10/2013 16:38

Another one on the Sussex coast here. I'd say in the last hour or so, although it has dulled over a bit, the wind has actually dropped. Am basing this on the highly scientific method of watching the big tree across the road, from my living room window.

So far it doesn't appear to be anything other than a quite windy day and we have definitely had worse in the past. Keeping an eye on it though, as I still have a line of washing out.

DD is ramping up her anxiety levels and is currently expecting our whole house to be lifted off to Oz during the night!

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 16:41

My shed has tilted forward by just enough so the doors won't open properly. There's a fence behind it with concrete post, but behind that is a massive massive tree that's about 1 storey taller than my house. I've propped the shed with a broom but if it's gonna go that won't really hold it I don't think.

mummylin2495 · 27/10/2013 16:43

Very dark and windy in. Bournemouth.just starting to rain again

Antidote · 27/10/2013 16:46

Gloomy, blustery and lagging with rain here in SE Cornwall. But nothing exceptional so far.

Tubemole1 · 27/10/2013 16:46

Zone 2 south London reporting very windy but not treacherous... yet. Met office asks us to stay in until midday tomorrow. That's unfortunate for DH, as he is a postie and will be forced out regardless.

I imagine outside London will be more dangerous than the urban areas as there are more hazards and faster moving roads.

GloriaSmud · 27/10/2013 16:47

A few webcams that I've been looking at while it's still light:
Woolacombe (can take a little while to load.)
Exmouth
Brighton. (make sure you click on 'live cam'.)

SnakeyMcBadass · 27/10/2013 16:50

Bit blowy here in South Derbyshire, but I don't expect things to be too rough for us. I hope everyone in the worst hit areas has an uneventful night.

4yoniD · 27/10/2013 16:54

wind seems to have died down a little in Guernsey. Not sayin' it will stay that way mind....
