Didi are you driving down or using the train? May be worth checking the train company's website or Twitter page too.

MsIngaFewmarbles · 27/10/2013 15:21

we can be twitchy together then :)

Sleepingbunnies · 27/10/2013 15:25

I can't decide if I'm being ridiculous or not Grin

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 15:27

Gusty in Leicestershire.
Sunny but windy.
Not cold.

digerd · 27/10/2013 15:34

marl
The recommended distance from house walls and foundations for Birch trees is 10 meters to avoid the risk of roots causing subsidence.
" Like branches, roots that grow from your land onto a neighbours are tresspassing. Your neighbour can chop the branches and roots along the boundary line and does not need your permission to do so"
Quoted from www.gardenlaw.co.uk/trees.

Poor Denmark - lucky us?

MsIngaFewmarbles · 27/10/2013 15:37

Yay Kitten!

I am so confused, weather warnings for my area suggest 60-70mph gusts but the general forecast is saying 20-30mph winds. I wish I could understand the models.

digerd · 27/10/2013 15:38

Sun gone again and gusty wind backHmm. SE

Twighlightsparkle · 27/10/2013 15:38

I'm in south west Scotland which is supposed to miss most of it and its blowing a gale already.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 15:39

managed to get on to the met office app warnings page. I see there is no downgrade at present.

Tip for tomorrow. dont go down to the beach. my ear is full of sand.

OP posts:
LostInWales · 27/10/2013 15:39

Just back from the beach, windy and fun! The waves were pretty big and impressive as well, there were a few surfers trying to make the most of it. I now have fabulous smooth skin from where the gusts blew up the sand and gave me free dermabrasion Grin. The coolest thing was every so often the sea would surge up the beach quite a long way and catch out people who don't know to always keep an eye on the sea.

LostInWales · 27/10/2013 15:40

Cross post OYBBK, I concur.

digerd · 27/10/2013 15:42

Lost Grin. Or better than an acid peel?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 15:43

I'll have a look when im back marbles. those could be mean wind speeds or often the problem arises that they are computer generated.

very hard to type. road very bumpy. catch you all in a bit.

I'm moving my boys in with me tonight, you are not alone. Going to stay put in my house. Hope the windows survive!

digerd · 27/10/2013 15:47

metres ugh!

octopusinastringbag · 27/10/2013 15:49

Hells bells, 4.8m in the channel...sod that for a game of soldiers.

HalloweenDidi · 27/10/2013 15:50

We're getting the train Herdy. Atm Virgin say everything's fine, so I'll check again later tonight/tomorrow morning to see if we're likely to have delays/cancellations.

SpookyTeacakes · 27/10/2013 15:56

We've taken our net off but not flipped the trampoline and put the bins in the shed as they've already blown over Hmm

Also oybbk Thanks we went pumpkin picking this morning and didn't get wet Smile

MsIngaFewmarbles · 27/10/2013 16:01

I've been reading a weather forum but TBH they might as well be speaking in Mandarin Blush

There was a link to wave buoy activity 100 miles SW of SW Ireland coast showing wave heights of 35 metres. From what I could tell the norm for the last couple of weeks is 8 metres. Very interesting, I think OYBBK should offer a Mumsnet Academy course on meteorology, I would love it :)

MsIngaFewmarbles · 27/10/2013 16:06

buoy report if anyone is interested until Kitten gets back with a proper report.

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 16:06

Back from morrisons. Came out to a completely different town, it was grey, windy, rainy nastiness.

Also, some dick has bought all the broccoli and I'm left with one of those dual packs of precut broccoli and cauliflower tonight.

Because in the event of a hurricane, appease the wind gods with dark green vegetables.

It's a bit mildly wild out there iyswim? The sort of weather where I'm considering leaning out the bay window to smoke.
