North surrey here. Roaring wind but not that noisy through the double glazing. Is this it or are we in for worse in the next hour or so?

justmuddlingalongsomehow · 28/10/2013 05:21

Feels like a case of media panic here. Flights still heading for Heathrow and a bit wet and windy but nothing unusual. NW London.

CinnabarRed · 28/10/2013 05:21

Amersham here - nothing like as much rain as we were fearing, and the wind isn't anything to write home about so far. We live in a barn conversion, and it certainly isn't rattling the doors and windows!

TheArticFunky · 28/10/2013 05:22

Dh just set off for a 70 mile commute. I 'm quite cross with him because he could work from home or at least wait until after the rush hour. The storm is supposed to hit London and the Home Counties between 6 and 7. He is going to be driving at the worst possible time which is irresponsible imo.

justmuddlingalongsomehow · 28/10/2013 05:23

Ah - so this isn't IT for me yet then Articfunky?

digerd · 28/10/2013 05:23

S.Herts.
Been raining and windy all night and still is. Too dark to see if any trees are down/broken branches. But got power still - fingers crossed.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 28/10/2013 05:26

Just woken up by the storm on Isle of Wight. Just peeked st Bramblemet and its 60 knots plus in the past 20 mins.

TheArticFunky · 28/10/2013 05:27

No not yet Just. I think there is worse to come. Fingers crossed it might be not as bad as they predicted? It's just a bit windy here at the moment. Not really any worse than normal.

TwelveLeggedWalk · 28/10/2013 05:31

Friends in Portland reporting 85-90 mph from their weather stations.

GloriaSmud · 28/10/2013 05:32

Leicester here. Heavy rain has just started, can't hear any wind though.

digerd · 28/10/2013 05:34

So it hasn't even started yetShock. And I thought we'd had it in the night and was done and dusted.
So I should pop out now with the dog? We can't go out in the dark and rain - she won't go.
Do you mean it is supposed to last an hour between 6-7 or just get started then?Confused

TwelveLeggedWalk · 28/10/2013 05:39

All ferries suspended and 99 mph recorded by Met office at Needles. Eek!

Have I slept through it or is it yet to come?!
In south east London and it's a bit blustery outside but nothing out of the ordinary. It's not raining and doesn't look like it's rained all night.
Yet all the trains are cancelled til at least 10am! I'm working from home either way so that doesn't affect me but I was hoping for some epic weather! Grin

justmuddlingalongsomehow · 28/10/2013 05:45

It's not got to us yet Gilly!!

cloudskitchen · 28/10/2013 05:46

Also North Surrey. Husband just set off for airport as flight still due to go. Not happy about him driving through this but also doesn't seem as bad as predicted. Waiting for daybreak to come on at 6 for live coverage but I think you lot are just as informative Grin

GillyBillyWilly · 28/10/2013 05:46

Well that explains it then!! Grin

iwantanafternoonnap · 28/10/2013 05:47

I take back what I said about the poor young boy being found as he hasn't been yet. It makes me feel very teary not least because I have DS(3 though) and this is just down the road. We like go down that beach and to another beach when it is windy.

Lifeboats are going to go out again looking for them but the wind has really picked up here in the last hour. Me and the cat are having trouble sleeping and my DS came into my bed at about midnight due to the wind. Dog couldn't care less though.

So far the trampoline hasn't come flying through the window. It is very, very dark here more so than normal.

youarewinning · 28/10/2013 05:47

Wind changed from SW to Westerly. Wonder if that means storm changed path slightly and won't go as far north through uk as predicted?

iwantanafternoonnap · 28/10/2013 05:49

www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-24700017

The link for the boy and the poor lifeboat crews. Waves so rough it damaged the boat.

flootshoot · 28/10/2013 05:50

That poor boy. He stood no chance really :(

cloudskitchen · 28/10/2013 05:51

Absolutely terrible about that poor teenage boy. His family must be desperate :(

itsazoohere · 28/10/2013 05:52

Ineedanap, the poor boy lost went to my children's school. It's horrible watching the news. His friends are in torment.
I just woke up, (in Lewes), did I miss it all?
It's windy outside, but not terrifyingly so.

mignonnette · 28/10/2013 05:52

It has just arrived here in West Suffolk in the last hour. Windows are rattling.

ElenorRigby · 28/10/2013 05:53

It's raining in Manchester. Shock Grin Wink
