:) in case I'm not back by the time the other one fills up.

OP posts:
MrsOnTheMove · 27/10/2013 22:44

I'm in coastal village, South Hams area. It sounds like thunder at moment but DH has said it is the wind.

It has defo got worse in last 20 mins, still very heavy rain. I expect we will struggle to leave village tomorrow as often get localised flooding.

Cat98 · 27/10/2013 22:44

S Wales - wind picking up but not too bad. Very wet though - heavy rain on and off.

clam · 27/10/2013 22:45

Was talking to someone earlier who lives overlooking the Severn estuary (Chepstow). Apparently, a regatta there was cancelled today, not because it was particularly windy at that point, but because a whole load of ships were moored there, having come in from the Channel for safety.

CatAmongThePigeons · 27/10/2013 22:45

Wind has suddenly arrived, it made me jump as it blew down the chimneys

DameFanny · 27/10/2013 22:46

Re Denmark, I don't know what their forecasts are like, but my aunt in Schleswig has been told to batten down by the German forecast. She's closed the windows Hmm.

So far just outside Norwich it's gusting. Looking forward to a lie-in as was planning to go into office tomorrow but will work from home instead.

QuintsHollow · 27/10/2013 22:46

Thanks Chubbykitty.

cloudskitchen · 27/10/2013 22:46

Thank you Cat. Grateful for the update Thanks

Raining harder in Surrey and seems more gusty (or maybe that I've come up to my room which is in the loft so more noisy Smile )

PigletJohn · 27/10/2013 22:46

chipping

IME the trains do run, there may be some delays if trees on line, but they get on and clear them. You may have a delay but far less tedious than going by road, and safer too.

ChippingInNeedsANYFUCKER · 27/10/2013 22:47

Quints - sorry to hear about your Dad :( Ask OYBBK in the morning, I'm sure she will have a look for you. I think, from everything that has been said, that Tuesday should be alright though.

DebrisSlide · 27/10/2013 22:47

roseblanche, I found this

Doesn't look good for The Netherlands either. Slightly more moderate reporting than here, though.

Moodykat · 27/10/2013 22:47

West Berks here and just rain at the moment. Bloody cat won't come in though so am worried!

Perihelion · 27/10/2013 22:49

Rose Danish Met Office DMI have amber/orange warning out for this storm.

cloudskitchen · 27/10/2013 22:49

Thanks also MrsOnTheMove for South Hams news. Sounds like its closing in Confused

MurderOfBanshees · 27/10/2013 22:49

Bit wet out, but windows are open and the blinds aren't moving, so the wind hasn't arrived yet. Nice gentle breeze instead. This is the (literal) calm before the storm isn't it?

QuintsHollow · 27/10/2013 22:51

Thanks Chipping.

NothingMoreScaryThanAHairy · 27/10/2013 22:52

First power outage only lasted a minute or 2 (long enough to get the torch!) In South Devon.

The wind is definitely getting up now!

RegainingUnconsciousness · 27/10/2013 22:52

Nothing remarkable happening at the top of Dartmoor. It's raining as usual but less so than a few days ago. A gentle breeze.

But the pressure is plummeting. Down to 970 hPa a few mins ago (from 980 a couple of hours ago).

We're off to bed. Hoping we don't sleep through anything dramatic.

HissyFucker · 27/10/2013 22:52

Raining heavily, wind picking up, occasional gusts that do sound like thunder.

casacastille · 27/10/2013 22:53

It's wild outside here in Brittany. All I can hear is the loud rustle of dozens of trees, several info which are tall and within felling distance of my house.. fingers crossed they are firmly anchored and bendy!

QuintsHollow · 27/10/2013 22:54

London. It is windy, and raining. Normal. My phone line has been weird though. I have been on the phone a lot this evening, both mobile and land-line, and been cut off several times.

BoreOfWhabylon · 27/10/2013 22:55

For whoever was asking about trains from reading heading west tomorrow:

First Great Western info

AnyCluffyflumpFucker · 27/10/2013 22:56

Oh hope your Dad is ok Quint.
North east Cornwall and we've got rain but not hellish winds. We are in a bit of a dip though.
We were other widmouth earlier, and it was great!

VirtuousVamp · 27/10/2013 22:58

Phew. We're home safely. Flight landing was interesting to say the least!!! Confused. All credit to the pilots!!

Roads were pretty flooded on way back too. Off to bed now and see what daylight brings us.

Good luck everyone and stay safe. Smile

BIWI · 27/10/2013 22:59

Quint - sorry to hear about your dad Sad

VirtuousVamp · 27/10/2013 23:10

Oops. Meant to say thanks Thanks to kitten for the reassurances over past couple of days that we would get home.

Quint. Hope your father is ok. I'm due to fly and see my ill parents this weekend and I've heard a rumour another storm may be on it's way after this one. So hard when you are apart from loved ones so my thoughts are with you.
