:) in case I'm not back by the time the other one fills up.

OP posts:
oldsilver · 27/10/2013 22:23

Our local news has just said they expect the worst winds to be up through the M4 corridor with Bristol expecting the biggest. winds of the country Hmm. Mind you, it is local news.

Both of the Severn Bridges are going to be closed - they didn't say from when though.

roseblanche · 27/10/2013 22:23

Sorry to repeat request for info... but family in Denmark say they have no knowledge of impending storm...you mentioned up thread that Denmark are in for it?

SlowlorisIncognito · 27/10/2013 22:25

I'm going to bed soon too.

The rain sounds even heavier here. The gusts around Plymouth are supposed to reach about 60mph according to the met office, so I think we will have some trees down tomorrow and a bit of flooding. I have to get into the city centre for 10 am tomorrow, which should hopefully be do-able, so long as the winds haven't done too much damage.

If there is going to be more rain in the week, I think there could be some real problems with flooding. I was walking earlier today, before the rain came in, and the ground is just so wet that there isn't really anywhere for the water to go. There have been problems this year in SE Cornwall with landslides and things. I hope we don't see any more.

clam · 27/10/2013 22:26

roseblanche the bbc weather forecast (available on line) mentioned it heading out towards Denmark and Sweden after it's finished with us.

TheRedRabbit · 27/10/2013 22:27

Ah yes, trees on the line. I knew it was a stupid question!

I was so tired when I came up to bed but now excited/a bit scared and have DH snoring beside me which doesn't help! I need to get some sleep but keep thinking of the lampost not far from our bedroom window...

CrazySexyCool123 · 27/10/2013 22:27

Exmouth. Rain. Nothing interesting really.

CatAmongThePigeons · 27/10/2013 22:28

Clouds I'm closeish to South Hams, it's just very wet at the moment but very little wind so far

AtticusMcPlatypus · 27/10/2013 22:28

Pelting down here in N Cornwall and wind has defo got up. Can hear it over DH snoring!

LostInWales · 27/10/2013 22:29

Bed soon here as well. Weirdly un-rainy day for us, that's incredibly unusual Wink. We all have wind up torches and mobiles fully charged, going to put a rolled up towel inside the front door too because we have all the water running down the hill to the front of our house and the drains already look full from the rest of this week. Hope everyone has a boring night, see you in the morning.

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 22:32

Flood warnings now for Newark. About bloody time considering we're smack in the middle of the Trent.

That's our other frequent news. The ground gets wet a lot.

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 22:35

Also having quick bath before we lost electric and hot water. I've had a bath by pure candlelight before when our lights broke and it's really not fun.

SorrelForbes · 27/10/2013 22:35

The wind has really picked up now (Plymouth). My windows are rattling.

BabylonReturns · 27/10/2013 22:36

Eerily calm in south Derbyshire too. A light sprinkle of rain but that's it so far.

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 22:36

Oh and the bathroom light keeps flickering. My dad says it's probably just the bulb but it's connected to the extractor fan (no window) whitch goes up I to the roof.

roseblanche · 27/10/2013 22:36

clam, thanks for that, but I can find no reference to the storm and Denmark, even on BBC site. Very worried that family there are totally unaware. Maybe Danish TV does not broadcast (hype?) storms? Or maybe it is going to bypass them completely?

BadRoly · 27/10/2013 22:37

Thanks Signet he's arrived safe and sound and us now enjoying a beer with his work mates as they plan for tomorrow's meeting apparently!

Thank you for all your hard work OYBBK, although I am still half hoping you have got this wrong as windows rattle ominously Thanks

Sl1nkyMalinki · 27/10/2013 22:38

North Somerset (just west of Bristol) update: still raining heavily, light winds. Off to bed with a big torch and expecting to be woken at some point!

Love the mumsnet weather collective giving updates :) it's so interesting to see where the storm is without the media hysteria!

Herisson · 27/10/2013 22:40

Movie rain here! I love it when it does that.

clam · 27/10/2013 22:41

Just saw the latest bbc weather bulletin and they've removed the specific reference to Denmark and Sweden (only noticed it the first time because someone on here asked earlier) but the map still showed the blue and lime green rain cloud moving that way, along with the fat white arrows.

QuintsHollow · 27/10/2013 22:41

My dad has been taken ill. I need to get home.
Not sure it is safe to book tickets for tuesday?

98percentchocolate · 27/10/2013 22:42

Southampton has lots of rain and a bit of flooding according to the local news. Winds starting to pick up a bit.

ChasedByZombees · 27/10/2013 22:42

Oxfordshire - light rain and quite still. Quite boring! Off to bed and hope for more interest when I wake. :)

ChippingInNeedsANYFUCKER · 27/10/2013 22:43

I'm far too wired to sleep. I seriously doubt OYBBK is going to manage it Grin

TheRedRabbit - I have a fucking annoyingly bright lampost just outside my bedroom window - I hadn't even thought about that... might have to camp out in the lounge with the heater, laptop, teapot.

legohouse · 27/10/2013 22:44

wild in Porthleven,gusting strongly now.....

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 22:44

Quint I imagine the flights may be delayed but even then if you have tickets you will get home eventually? I've never flown so not sure how it works. There has to be some way to get people home within the next few days though. Sorry to hear about your dad as wellThanks
