colouringinqueen - you are in the amber area so I think you could see gusts of 60mph+

Outside and I can hear a constant low rumble in the sky. Could do with putting my bin out but not sure I want to.

JKSLtd · 27/10/2013 20:49

Just got text from sister, dad is taking the be careful advice a tad too far and crawling his way down! So far it's taken them 6 hrs and they've just arrived in Devon. Sister going crazy as she's not on his insurance so can't take over.

heidihole · 27/10/2013 20:51

Are they still forecasting the worst of the storm to go through the channel? I'm in the CI and its torrential rain right now plus quite windy. Guessing its going to continue into the night.

Antidote · 27/10/2013 20:54

Waves at auntidote,I thought you were me a bit earlier!

Sparklysilversequins · 27/10/2013 20:56

Raining in London now, not that heavily but can hear it over general London noise and two screamy not wanting to go to bed dc Grin.

SteamWisher · 27/10/2013 20:58

rain here too (S London).Has been a bit breezy all day (this morning was lovely actually)!

Littleredsquirrel · 27/10/2013 21:01

Finally managed to persuade DH that the chickens shouldn't be left outside. They are now in my downstairs loo for the night!

TiredDog · 27/10/2013 21:02

I wish I was brave but a storm overnight is my worst nightmare. I like to see it. I'm planning a walk along the seafront tomorrow - daylight and storm = fine. Nighttime with crashing outside = terrifying.

BeckyBrandon · 27/10/2013 21:03

Just started raining again here in surrey

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 21:03

as a slight aside - if you have an ipad the app livingearth is well worth £1.99 you can see the storm in real time - and the lights of the uk underneath the leading rain. You can spin the planet and look at hurricanes. Its just Shock just downloaded it, dd is giving me a running commentary on planetary conditions.

heidi - I think so.

My chickens are out :( Should I go and get them? Their coop is fairly sheltered next to a fence under a big tree Confused close to neighbours house so I feel they are sheltered

musicposy · 27/10/2013 21:04

Hadn't thought about charging stuff, will do all that now and get candles out in case.

Well, I did the Chichester-Wimbledon-Chichester trip and we're all back home safely. :)
Some very heavy rain on the way up around Haslemere and I thought if the rest of the journey was like that I was going to be in real trouble. But it then eased. Wimbledon was gusty but nothing like as much as down here which rather lulled me into a false sense of security! On the way back I didn't stop, ignored pleas for a coffee (DD1) and the toilet (DD2) and just ploughed straight home. Rain started at Petersfield but not too bad. Just after arriving home it started chucking it down so we are very glad to be indoors!

Poor DH has just arrived back from work soaked. He cycles from the bus/coach station the 4 miles north to home. He got home OK but I think he would have been better to stay at work overnight (Gatwick) because next problem is he has to cycle back to station at 5am and catch the 5.30 coach back, if it runs!

That's our next issue as his work don't take kindly to missed shifts for any reason. If the coach does not run we are buggered as there are no trains that early and we currently only have use of my parents' car which he's not insured on. Plus there's the issue of cycling 4 miles into Chichester. I also have to take DD1 to work in her well-known-much-maligned fast food restaurant Wink for just before 8am. So I don't feel we are out of the woods yet. Fingers crossed!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 21:06

I think your dh might be quite challenged cycling at that point musicposy.

No trains either - as far as I can see most are shutting the lines til at least 8am.

tireddog I was a bit paranoid about ours because we live in the middle of a wood and there are already branches down from the gusts we had earlier. They're quite happy now in two boxes in the downstairs loo.

Mirage · 27/10/2013 21:08

Grin octopus

Geckos48 · 27/10/2013 21:08

Just started raining in Salisbury. Wind is still at nothing.

musicposy · 27/10/2013 21:10

I could drive him down in the car if I get up at stupid o'clock. Would that just put two of us at risk or be the safer option? Roads are main but quite tree lined.

TheGashlycrumbTinies · 27/10/2013 21:10

Raining in Dorset, DD's tucked up in a back bedroom away from a line of oaks at the front of the house.

Had no digital sinal since 6pm, no Downton...

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 21:11

I think I will attempt an earlyish night if I'm not too excited. Got to be up early even if the weather doesnt wake me (I'm sure it will!)

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 21:12

I wonder why so many people arent getting a telly signal.

musicposy, if he absolutely has to go in then driving would be far safer.

I dont suppose I can risk booking a 9 am flight out of Gatwick tomorrow morning.

Geckos48 · 27/10/2013 21:14

OYBK, why are you the weather person? Have you studied it?

ChasedByZombees · 27/10/2013 21:14

My parents texted from the IOW, sandowne area. The wind and rain are terrible. They had to move their car from the beach to more inland as the waves were breaching and huge. They got soaked on a short trip out. They'll update me at midnight (but I'll probably be asleep).
