Bramblenet showing drop in pressure starting and gusts are getting up. Still only F4 with F6 gusts though.

CatAmongThePigeons · 27/10/2013 20:28

Thanks Plymouth people, it's just reached us gently as I type.

BadRoly · 27/10/2013 20:29

Atticus - I have one of those little home weather stations mounted on the shed roof and have been boring dh and my Mum all afternoon with updates Blush.

Gusts starting again after a period of calm but still very slow. Pressure continuing to drop. Oh and it's raining (but even I can tell that without the weather thingy). I may have to take the display thingy to bed with me...

AllIWant85 · 27/10/2013 20:30

SE Cornwall is very wet and wind is starting to pick up now. Local roads are flooding already and the usual hotspots in Plymouth are flooded, go steady if driving.

Antidote · 27/10/2013 20:31

Pouring with rain in saltash. Not windy yet.

I had no idea there were so many mnetters in these parts.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 27/10/2013 20:31

The sky box has just freaked out lost signal (right in the middle of the "end of the world" speech in Ghostbusters!) but still nothing happening locally. Although pressure is still falling.

However, dish points southwest, right towars that Plymouth rain (vague on the details of satellite function!)

TwelveLeggedWalk · 27/10/2013 20:31

Thank you! Sorry if you'd already explained that, I can't keep up with these threads!

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 20:33

Gloria I think my friend might be on that flight!

culturemulcher · 27/10/2013 20:33

Oh how I love MN.

I've been wondering all evening how the storm's progressing... then MN!

And here you all are.

RegainingUnconsciousness · 27/10/2013 20:34

Weather station is flashing at us. Not sure what it means!

Auntidote · 27/10/2013 20:35

Waves at Antidote - thought you were me for a moment there.

JKSLtd · 27/10/2013 20:36

Hoping parents, sister & Nieces have made it to Plymouth by now - they left essex today instead of tomorrow because of the storm.

All still pretty calm in essex.

SlowlorisIncognito · 27/10/2013 20:37

I've also heard of localised flooding in the Plymouth/Saltash area. Nothing specific unfortunately, just mentioned by a few people on FB. It seems like there is some wind now, instead of it being pretty still.

Agree with the advice to go steady if driving tonight or early tomorrow!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 20:37

Well it's not an open wave anyhow.

observations chart you can see the discrete low to the west of Cornwall.
Means that gfs was wrong.

Thought I could hear the wind picking up then I realised it was just the dishwasher sloshing about. Now they really think I'm an obsessed crazy lady!

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 20:38

He's got to start again at 6 tomorrow so will be leaving at 5.30 but he's walking, so will it be a problem if trees block roads? I mean I guess he could climb(would probably be expected to get there anyway he canHmm)

BabylonReturns · 27/10/2013 20:38

Very calm here in south Derbyshire, no wind, rain, nada!!

I'll keep an eye out though!!

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 20:39

I reckon that when tomorrow is over we need a nice 'weather horror stories' thread so I can read at leisure!

youarewinning your ferry story reminded me of a journey we had between Calais and Dover, probably around the same year.

It was quite a windy day, lots of wAves. We made it close to Dover in the usual time frame then couldn't get into the port because the weather was too bad. We were out there for about 4.5 hours! The duty free booze had all smashed so there was an awful stench of alcohol. Those who weren't vomiting due to the sea sickness were vomiting due to the combination of the smell of vodka/Bacardi/whiskey/any other alcoholic beverage you can name! The boat was going on to its side and bouncing back up before going on to its other side. People couldn't stand up because it was so bad. I found it very exciting until I had the toilet cubicle door smash into my stomach as I tried to go into it. On the way back from the toilets to find my dad and our stuff my mum and I fell over into a table and this nice family told us to sit with them. It was horrific! I don't think my mum has been on a ferry since.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 20:41

chubbykitty - perhaps he should see how it is first thing tomorrow.

We just lost our SKY signal during Ghostbusters too.Still fairly quiet and dry in Leicestershire.

octopusinastringbag · 27/10/2013 20:43

Mirage at least you know who you're gonna call.

ColouringInQueen · 27/10/2013 20:43

What does that mean to someone in bucks oybbk?

Flowers too - I have thoroughly enjoyed watching this thread today! Smile thanks.

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 20:45

I've told him that. They can't expect him to risk his life just to fold some tea towels.

He thinks it'll be fine. We'll see.
