Sorry to bother you again OYBBK but do you know what time they estimate the brunt of the storm to hit us? I have an unbeliever texting me saying that there is obviously no storm coming

lagoonhaze · 27/10/2013 18:44

Re Surges it more if power flickers on and off I was thinking

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 18:45

meandthecat, I'm afraid I don't know the answer to either of those questions. I hope it works out ok for you.

I'm tempted too, no work for me either althoughi do have the DC! DH is fully intending to go into work tomorrow (he drives into chiswick), guess it depends on how the roads are.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 18:46

Thank you! I'm a bit upset I can't pick her up but dh thinks its a bad idea and I do think she's safer with an experienced bus driver than with me...

octopusinastringbag · 27/10/2013 18:47

We've got hardly any wind but the sky box says that it is not getting a signal. Is anybody else having problems?

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 27/10/2013 18:47

Thanks hun x

denialandpanic · 27/10/2013 18:48

I'm in Ireland for half term (but still loving an oybbk thread Smile Grin ) and the six one news weather lady was pretty dismissive of the fuss for southern England and reckoned it would all go to the channel / northern France. mind you I'm not sure met eireann are that renowned for their forecasting and storm force ten winds are not that uncommon here.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 18:49

d&p - to be fair, it does look rather rough for northern France!

my dinner is just about ready. dh had to take over cooking it after he saw how firmly rooted I was to the keyboard. I'm going to scoff it (politely) and come back.

Don't tell me that.

I AM in the Channel....

youarewinning · 27/10/2013 18:50

Thanks OYBBK that was what I was getting at Grin

AtticusMcPlatypus · 27/10/2013 18:50

Cornwall calling! Just sent DH out to secure the bin and he reports back that there's no wind yet. I'm secretly a bit excited - I love lying in my nice warm bed listening to it blowing a hoolie outside. Stay safe all though.

iwantanafternoonnap · 27/10/2013 18:52

Update on the 14 year old on the "save newhaven beach' facebook site is that his body has been found. I feel so sorry for his family and friends and especially for the other boy who was with him.

idobelieveinfairies · 27/10/2013 18:52

Evening Jersey! How are you up on that hill?

Certainly stormy out there huh?

I've just heard about someone being swept out to sea in jersey via a FB weather website.. :( hoping it's not true. Tree down in st. Saviour somewhere too,

Stay safe!

SilverApples · 27/10/2013 18:53

'Hi I'm due a delivery of medication that needs to be kept in the fridge between 8 and 10 tomorrow morning.'

Have you got a cooler bag and icepacks? That will keep your medication cool enough for several hours if your power goes off.

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 27/10/2013 18:53

Cornwall here too - a hell of a lot of rain, and the sea looks very rough. It is getting blowy, too.

ScreamsInTheNight · 27/10/2013 18:53

So its looking later now, not hitting London until >5am, worst around 8am-12pm Monday according to this?

TempusFuckit · 27/10/2013 18:54

Not sure if this is the right thread for it, but if anyone is thinking about heading down to the coast to watch the storm develop, please take extra care - a 14-year-old boy has been swept out to sea at Newhaven. Very sad.

AnyCluffyflumpFucker · 27/10/2013 18:54

Cornwall here too
Bits and pieces of rain at the mo, but not as windy as earlier.

denialandpanic · 27/10/2013 18:55

sorry Jersey spudSad

AChristmassyJerseySpud · 27/10/2013 18:56

Evening Fairy!

Yes its somewhere up the road that the tree is down. Not heard anything about someone being swept out to see over here. Wouldn't surprise me though the amount of idiots who are rushing to the beaches to take pictures!

LtAllHallowsEve · 27/10/2013 18:56

Hello kittens, hope this gets thru, service is patchy.

Well we have the honour of being in the background of Sky News! DH succombed to pressure not to camp, but we are in our caravan in Brean Sands (near Weston-Super-Mare). The local fair was open this afternoon, but were battening down the hatches and closing lots of rides. Sky were there interviewing the staff who are all pretty busy.

Caravan is chained at the corners, so not that worried - but Sky seem to think that this area will be badly hit Sad. Everyone else was bloody leaving when we were driving in - we are mad.

Winds are high, but not awful. Started raining lightly about an hour ago. We are expecting the worst at around midnight. I'll let you know...if I can.
