Slightly concerned of hampshire here, but have put away garden table and chairs as advised so will just wait and see what happens. Nice of itv2 to be showing The perfect storm tonight, it was Twister last night!

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 18:35

Shed is still up.

Thought we could use some good news Wink

Will go and have a fag and a nosy at everyone's wheelie bins.

youarewinning · 27/10/2013 18:36

Oh I love that film Blush

PortBlackCat · 27/10/2013 18:36

I'm in Shropshire and earlier today the big arrow went right over our heads! But now i think the predictions have moved it southwards. It's certainly calmed down a bit here for now. Anyone else noticed it's predicted path has moved south a bit?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 18:37

Remember, whilst its brilliant that everyone is preparing - this is going to be a 'now cast' situation. Even at this point the storm is doing slightly different things from forecast.
What I'm saying is - if its not as bad as forecast, well that's how forecasting goes! and remember that the Express are not a reliable weather news source!

Noneof my neighbours have put anything away at all, lines are still out patio furniture, toys. This could be fun...

alcibiades · 27/10/2013 18:37

I'm wondering whether to fill a thermos flask with very hot water just before I go to bed, so, if the power goes out, I can at least have something that resembles a cup of coffee in the morning.

TheGhostsAndGhoulsOfHitchhikin · 27/10/2013 18:38

We are now getting updates from linconshire emergency services not to travel before 10am!

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 18:38

One guys bin has opened itself, and the for sale sign down the street is leaning. And my flowers will never be the same again.

Other than that, uneventful.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 18:39

If anyone is following the met office twitter feed please can you ask them how many people they have typing away answers?! They are having their work cut out today and I'd like to know if its one poor sod typing away really furiously.

Hi OYBBK. I am sorry to add to your workload, but I have just spoken with my dgd in Denmark and she says they have heard nothing about a storm? I was worried to read your report upthread that Denmark are in line to be hit? I have googled their weather forecast for tomorrow and there is absolutely no mention of the coming storm. Any further info would be gratefully received. Thanks

flootshoot · 27/10/2013 18:39

Too bloody dark to see anything here in Surrey but I'm starting to hear some fairly ferocious wind. Although I'm never sure if it's aeroplanes taking off at Heathrow... Blush

floatyflo · 27/10/2013 18:40

Hi im on my phone and can't read the writing on the met office update, what time is meant to hit east Anglia? I have to get a bus tomorrow at midday to my 20week scan. Il be gutted if I can't go.

Have been watching lurking on thread since yesterday morning. Excellent advice. Stay safe everyone x

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 27/10/2013 18:40

Checking in form near Worthing.

Off to work soon! It's very windy and just bucketed it down.

I am hoping people manage to get in to take over in the morning, don't fancy an extended night shift! Feels like snowgate all over againGrin

ChubbyKitty · 27/10/2013 18:40

Oh no I know I just thought I'd update.

It's a pretty small town in the arse end of nowhere so flying wheelie bins are newsBlush

OhYouBadBadKitten · 27/10/2013 18:41

what a complicated question you are asking youarewinning! Certainly the higher the sustained windspeed the more damage and I guess if you get frequent slightly lower gust speeds rather than a few big gusts that is in effect becoming more like a sustained windspeed of 60mph.

I'm in surrey too Floot it's been darkish since around 3pm here, was a bit windy earlier but now died down.

I'm off work tomorrow, tempted to stay up all night!!

Meandthecat · 27/10/2013 18:44

Hi I'm due a delivery of medication that needs to be kept in the fridge between 8 and 10 tomorrow morning. I'm near Bristol any ideas if it will arrive or if my fridge will still be working? Probably a bit late to change delivery slot now. Thanks
