As requested by our snow guru OYBBK heres the new thread as the other one is almost full.

And I have no idea why I'm still getting involved as we had no snow

No more snow overnight so we just have enough to cover the ground and the trains are running. Oh well, better get ready - half term next week though Grin

NorksAreMessy · 10/02/2012 06:32

Snow at 4 am in Malvern, but have just woken up to about 2 inches. (fnarrr fnarrr)

SNOW DAY!!!!!!!

sassyTHEFIRST · 10/02/2012 06:36

I am wondering if I teach yr ds Droitwich mummy, being as I work at the only high school in the town?

A couple of cm in the Kidderminster area but roads look ok. I'm glad cos we are going away today and planned an early start.

GloriaSmud · 10/02/2012 06:38

Only had 1cm or so. Bit of a non-event after the forecasts of snowmageddon we were getting!

ShagOBite · 10/02/2012 06:39

Snow day Norks? I'm in Malvern too, didn't think we had enough for a snow ay! Which side of the hill are you?

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 06:42

Hmmph. Bit of icing sugar snow. Sad

sassy you may well teach my DS. He is in Yr8. Wink

youarekidding · 10/02/2012 06:49

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 06:51

Well he will be less than chuffed at the lack of snow sassy. Still not wearing a coat though. Angry

sassyTHEFIRST · 10/02/2012 06:53

Lol. Coat? Of course not!

School defo open, the head has emailed. My day off tho so not for me Grin

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 07:01

It's dress down day sassy so that should be interesting and hopefully involve a coat. Grin

ohyouBadBadkitten · 10/02/2012 07:07

4cm here. Not too bad, but not enough to close school.

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 07:09
Sad

OYBBK it all turned a bit odd for us in the end, the snow didn't fall for long at all and had actually stopped before they predicted it would start.

inmysparetime · 10/02/2012 07:13

As predicted, rain for Trafford againSad.

NorksAreMessy · 10/02/2012 07:13

well, I am over the hill and towards Hereford, not exactly Malvern and not exactly too much snow to drive, but having crahed my car in the snow on Saturday, I stand by my claim...

...SNOW DAY!

ObviouslyOblivious · 10/02/2012 07:15

Probably about 2 inches here. Very fluffy snow.

PeneloPeePitstop · 10/02/2012 07:17

It was a bit shit in the end here too.

ohyouBadBadkitten · 10/02/2012 07:19

:( sorry sparkling.

The models in the run up to yesterday did not reflect what happened at all. They showed a fairly straightforwardish synoptic situation, with a warm front meeting cold air. Instead, it looked much more complicated with a cold front arriving from the east (which I suspect did not decay as expected) bringing in snow, at the same time as the warm front coming in from the west also bringing in snow/rain.

Lesson to learn:sometimes all of the models can be wrong!

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 07:21

I think that's what makes it all the more interesting OYBBK. Smile

ohyouBadBadkitten · 10/02/2012 07:28

It is sparkling :)

I should have added into it, there seemed to be an awful lot of dry air last night, meaning that an awful lot of our snow just evaporated before it hit the ground. I'm wondering if that was caused by the cold front undercutting the warm front - as it did seem to happen where the two fronts 'collided'.

ShagOBite · 10/02/2012 07:28

Oh, Norks, I'm about to drive to Hereford. Too dangerous?

ohyouBadBadkitten · 10/02/2012 07:29

Ice is a big risk for almost everywhere today. Take care all (as norks can tell you!)

Sparklingbrook · 10/02/2012 07:32

Be careful out there Shag.

We now have what looks like a very hard frost but is actually the 1mm snow we managed, now frozen solid. More eastern parts of Leicestershire and Rutland got a lot more, up to 7cm BBC east midlands just said. Envy
