It’s basically our whole town that’s down. Thankfully most of my next few days is going to be either at home or at the theatre I help at so I’ve at least got WiFi in both and the theatre is a pokestop too.

Who’s excited for the Go Fest Max finale weekend?

Meh. I haven’t really got into max battles I can’t do on my own. Being rural there’s no group here. If I go somewhere that does I can’t follow the group due to my mobility issues. If I try and join remotely my phone crashes and I can’t get back in.

I’m also meant to be at a family BBQ on one of the days so not looking great for being able to join in.

@Tillow4ever How do you get on with them? Do you have a community around you that makes it easier? I assume you’re looking forward to it…?

Sorry to hear that, rural play makes it so hard. I live in a small town, but have manage to get around 150 new stops added to it since I got a high enough level. We now have loads of gyms etc, which massively helps.

we struggled with GMax until remotes got introduced, but we still struggle to get a group together sometimes. I tend to look for people that appear to be playing and make them come join our group lol. I’ve applied to the community ambassador programme though, so I’ve been trying to build our community.

looking forward to the weekend, a chance to get the missed GMax and do more crown raids!

I have attempted Dynamax Entei twice via Pokegenie but got absolutely battered both times. I have powered up what are supposed to be good counters but my Gigantamax Inteleon got defeated before getting to the max phase on both occasions. I am not sure if I'm getting it wrong, or how you're meant to co-ordinate who attacks/shields/heals. Feeling quite frustrated!

You are supposed to coordinate but it's no good if you can't dynamax in the first place.

3 star is about my limit, at the moment. I'm hoping they make the points for the reward path more generous, like they did with go fest, at the weekend.

At least I've managed lots of sinistea raids, this week. I will get that antique one evolved, one way or another - probably just in time for it to be released into the wild and shiny 😂

Is inteleon your strongest pokemon that can dynamax? Even with good iv’s and maxed out that’s not likely to last long at all.

I appreciate that you may not have enough rare candy but if you do and you have a decent sword Zacian and/or shield Zamazenta that can dynamax you should power it up fully and level up the max moves as much as you can. Particularly work on guard. I spent over 600 rare candy getting one of mine to a reasonable level and I’ve still not maxed out their max moves.

if you can’t do that then concentrate on a couple of dynamaxing mon that you can beef up because you have lots of candy. Charmander, Gengar, Machamp etc.
You need to power them up fully to have any chance of them surviving to dynamax. You need to unlock guard and spirit. Work on maxing guard first. once you have a decent team you’ll find it a lot easier.

you can put more than one guard on at a time so once it dynamaxes then try and get at least 2 shield on to help with getting through the next dynamax round. Then use spirit.

I’m no expert but I find that to have any chance you really need strong pokemon in your team and hope the rest of the group do too.

What you need to do is use your tank Pokemon to power up the meter (Blissey is usually good for this, as are the crowned dogs). Then when you are about to Dynamax, switch out to your attacker. Once you’ve done your 3 attacks, switch back to your tank.

For your tanks, don’t bother with the max moves - power to the CP as high as you can (ideally level 50 but level 40 as a bare minimum). Once at 50, you could then unlock the healing power or the shield.

For the attacker, max out your max attack move before bothering with the CP. Don’t bother with the shield or healing max moves. Once you’ve reached level 3/max level of attack, then power up your pokemon. Really though, you shouldn’t take any hits with your attacker - your 2 tanks need to be strong enough to take these.

if you don’t have a decent Blissey, do as many Chansey max battles as you can until you get a good one! It’s so useful in pretty much every DMax raid, and a few GMax too!

OK, good to know. I have got a decent Blissey and a lot of candy from a community day a while ago. Got a Crowned Sword Zacian too, though less candy. I read on one of the usual website guides that GMax Inteleon was the best attacking counter for Entei (I want that one specifically as it's the only one missing from my 'dex and will get my platinum Johto medal) but obviously no use if it gets defeated before it can go max.

I've not been able to go to any of the local Gigantamax raid day events so not had much practice yet apart from doing 1/2* battles by myself!

I’ve started to really enjoy the max raids now that I understand the way to play it. The tactic of having 2 tank pokemon to fill the max meter and take all the hits without losing too much health is brilliant as like you say, your attacker gets taken out with one hit otherwise.

Gmax, unless you have the numbers, needs more tactics. Decide your groups of 4 in advance and go in in the correct order so you keep your groups. You decide who will be the healers so they use the healing power, your attacker focuses on the max attack move and you may choose to have someone put 2 or even 3 shields on to draw the attacks to them to allow everyone else not lose their tanks. It’s practice/trial and error but make sure everyone knows who’s attacking and who’s healing!

Finally managed to get my Entei and my Johto medal, using Zacian, Blissey and GMax Inteleon.

I'm pretty sure I won't complete the Eternatus research, as I'm at my parents' house and out of reach of any gyms/powerspots. But I also just got a shiny Zamazenta so not a bad weekend!

I have really enjoyed this weekend so far!

LL has his Eternatus, thanks to a very prolific New York friend who jumps into some very busy raid lobbies. I have a bit of catching up to do.

I tried to do the same today but no matter how many it tried it just put me in on my own, didn’t even matter how long there was left to go. And I highly doubt they were all private ones so no idea what was going on there.

The good news is that the mast in town seems to be working again so I might actually get to go out and play properly again. Yay!

I did end up on a team seemingly on my own against one gigantamax even though there were over a dozen players. I did some good cheering, though 😂

Both ds and I got an enternatus after throwing money at remote raid passes. One of ds’s Japanese friends raids a lot so he just jumped in with him to do the max battles needed. I managed to also do the same with a couple of friends and using ds’s phone which is much more stable than mine. I also paid for the delux ticket so ended up with over 6K of candy and 1K of xl candy. Shame my enternatus is only 87%. I really hate powering up anything below 90% but I guess I’m not going to get a better one any time soon.

With all the extra spawns on Sunday I managed to power through stage 4 of the wish granted masterwork research as well as all 1,000 of my great balls and 500 ultra balls and completed the 385 excellent throws in just 2 days all whilst sitting on my sofa.

I’m now on stage 5 which is the easiest of them all so far I think. Well as long as you’ve already reached level 40.

Catching 1,000 pokemon is just a matter of time and with my go plus+ I anticipate the 7 day time lock of catching a Pokemon every day for 7 days to be about the right timeframe to complete that.

I found this event to be pretty dull if I’m honest. There is something weird about raiding just for candy, even by my addiction level. I did all day Saturday and then did the last few raids I needed remotely on Sunday. I’ve maxed it out, including the max move. Now it can just gather some dust for a bit.
