Hi all, I've just returned to Pokemon go after a few years off. The game has changed a lot since I last played but catching up nicely now. If anyone has had a random friend request over the last few days, it's probably me, as I've worked back over the last few pages of this thread. Thank you!

If you are spending 000s a day on buying remote raid passes to spam legendary raids is the increase going to make a massive difference?

They only people you are putting off is people in smaller towns or remote areas whose only chance of raiding with other players is remote raiding. I know they want to reverse some of the changes they made during the pandemic but this was a useful change.

Big thanks to gillybean2 for the vivillon friends site. I've been on a bit of a mission and now have all but 3 of the regions up to spewpa level. Annoyingly I'd already got a few and traded them before I realised what they were all about! Redoing river, which is coming along nicely but frustrated by sandstorm and ocean- have 2 out of 3 for both of those but really hard to get friends and the ones I do have hardly ever send gifts 🎁

I was so pleased when I finished the Vivillons - not just the gifts but all the annoying candy....

It's going to be a hard slog to get them all fully evolved- I completed Ocean postcards today though, so one step closer!

Is anyone going to Go fest London on the 4th to 6th? My son tells me it's the last day for reduced price tickets is today and he really wants to do it, but I don't know London well at all and and am concerned we're going to spend a day getting lost. I think it would be best for us to drive as train would take a couple of hours but I wouldn't know where Brockwell Park is! Would parking be impossible?

How old is your ds? Will you be playing too? Does your ds need constant supervision or are you happy for him to wander the park while you find a spot for him to come find you?

I’m hoping to go, have bought the ticket, also booked a hotel and booked parking via a rent your driveway type app (both on cancellation rate though as my health may mean I can’t actually go).
Have been to previous events all over the world with ds but he doesn’t okay any more so isn’t coming this time. The atmosphere is generally great but do expect there to be bugs, issues, lag and the usual niantic mess ups.

There is a lot of walking (which is what I can’t manage atm). In Montreal my ds did I think 12 laps of the walking circuit and I managed about 5 before seeking shade and a sit down.

This event is actually only half a day at the park and extended to London for the rest of the day. It’s also extra for addition extended London days, plus lots of extra paid for add ons this year which I’ve not seen before. They can be added too later but you might want to factor that the reduced price is actually only a basic ticket and you may end up buying add ons on top.

Tickets will still be available at full price after today, I think it’s £5 off for early booking. If you’re not sure then the extra £5 per ticket on top of travel, hotel, T-shirt, coins for extra storage etc isn’t a huge factor so maybe do a bit of research on the area and travel options. If you’re definitely going, and/or buying half a dozen tickets for the whole family then saving £5 a ticket today might be worth considering.

Brockwell Park is just south of Brixton which is in south London, so depending on which direction you're coming from might mean you wouldn't have to drive across London? There is a pay and display car park, but I don't know how big it is and I'd seriously rethink getting a train instead as it's likely to be very busy.

I'm going, but I live in the City so I'm only about half an hour away. Brixton station is about 10-15 minutes' walk or Herne Hill is practically outside the gate .

@bedlegs i wouldn’t worry about getting lost as long as you’re fairly competent with public transport and generally cope with finding your way around. I had no clue where I was going in Paris, Dortmund, even the very first uk event in Chester where hotels booked out within 24hours of the event announcement so we had to take whatever was available. However I’m very used to travelling alone and finding my way around. Will it be just you and ds? What day are you thinking of booking?

The ticketed time is in Brockwell park itself (have a Google). The rest is anywhere elsewhere in London (I understand it’s Greater London) so just follow the crowds, stick close to the park, or jump on the tube and head to the tourist spots. I’m not intending to head far from the park and my hotel which is in the Brixton area about 20 mins from the park. You can just wander wherever you are and be part of it still outside the ticketed time.

I’m 2 around hours drive away but I’m still coming up the day before to get sure if getting my moneys wort. I have a Friday ticket, and then planning to leave late Saturday evening. Unless you are local which it sounds like you’re not as you’re concerned about getting lost, If you can afford it I would recommend arriving the day before so you can settle in and explore a bit before you have a full on day on your ticket day. There will be queues to get in the park so you need to arrive in good time, and plenty of people about to do raids, trade etc with the days around your ticket time if you arrive the day before and stay a day after. Make a weekend if it and explore. Maybe I’ll see you there…!

We are going on the Saturday, our first ever event. We are about 1 hour away by train so will just be in London for the day. We went for the afternoon slot in the park, so our morning will be spent in Greater London. Really looking forward to it and may see you there if you decide to go.

I am bringing my son on the Sunday afternoon. Although we are relatively local ie a 20.min train ride away. We have other things on the Saturday and I am working on the Sunday to go before then.

We have never been to any Fest before so interested to see what it's like

I'm going on the Saturday afternoon too - I can play in town in the morning and I might just gradually make my way over on foot and jump on a bus for the last bit. I'm in the City so half an hour or so away 😀

@bedlegs it depends on how old your son is but he should be able to travel on the tube and buses for free or at a discounted rate if he's under 16 (I think). Have a look at the TfL website and you can order travelcards and stuff ahead 😊

Thanks for all your advice everyone. I think I'll wait and see closer to the time I think it would be really fun if we were a more normal collection of people! My boy's a young 12 who needs a lot of support. When the event description said Greater London I had visions of us having to traverse all corners of London with me like a crap sweaty menopausal asthmatic Challenge Anneka, and my husband (who needs a new hip) limping along behind! Think we'd have to hire St. John's ambulance for the day! There's another event at the end of August which looks a bit easier to get tickets for as they are in the Pokémon store, I wonder if that will have the same Pokémon to catch?

Does anyone here use the campfire app and, if you do and we're friends (I'm Cobbblers), please could you invite me?!
How does it work? I have a few gyms in the small town I live in but there's really not a lot of action round here 🤣
I've never had any company on raids, only my friends joining remotely and obviously that's getting less with the changes.
A portal has appeared in a nearby gym but it's a 5 star so I know there's no point in going down there as I'd be on my own, it looks like with campfire I could send up a flare and at least the few players in town would know I'm there!
Would anyone who's tried recommend it and how do the invites work, are they limited?
Thanks for any info anyone has, it looks quite promising for me as a lone player.

Oh OK, just had a quick Google and it looks like it's pretty limited at the moment! Maybe something for the future 😏
