I finally bought Detective Pikachu on Google 😀

How is everybody getting on with the Vivillons? I have no bloody Ocean postcards at all, although I've got started on everything else and I have a full Sandstorm one (out of sheer dumb luck because one of my friends went on holiday out that way).

I love Detective Pikachu. The big showdown was filmed very near my office, and every time it's on telly I enjoy seeing all the details they've CGI'd to make it into Ryme City, and am yet again baffled by why there's a Lloyds Bank and a Farmer J's in between all the Pokémon related brands.

I live relatively close to some of the locations they used and it's great fun working out where they are.

That montage of Ryme City is my favourite part especially the Machamp directing traffic around the Snorlax.

On a relevant note, DD2 can do the best impression of an angry Jigglypuff.

It's great to have gotten so many friends from this thread. It really encourages me to get walking otherwise I have no gifts to send. It also got me through the winter because I am a dedicated PokeDex filler.

I’ve been a bit hit and miss with my Pokémon playing at the moment since I can’t get out much. Hoping to get back to playing daily. I’ve added all the new people (I think).

I've still only started about half. Haven't tried signing up to any of those groups solely for that purpose though.

I was gutted when I discovered my first international friend (NZ) was also bloody garden region!

@SocksAndTheCity Have all my vivillon and most (all but 4) I have also got a spare 6 of each bug; which I’d be happy to trade (but probably not at gofest unless they up the number of trades allowed as I’ll be looking for recent regionals and unown z trades).

It does take a lot of effort and time but I was lucky to already have friends in most regions and picked up those missing from the website I posted a few days ago. I’d always made efforts to send gifts to friends daily (sending at least 100+ a day) and also opening max gifts daily before vivillons. I still try to open from all my friends at least once a week if I can, and those regions I need most I prioritise opening daily.

Little tricks that may help anyone struggling include:

1. even if you reach the limit of gifts you can open daily you can still pin postcards. So be sure to pin every postcard you can to build up your candy.
2. Use a pinap or silver pinap berry every catch to double your catch candy.
3. if you can afford the stardust then mirror trade bugs with friends/family if you were going to transfer and then transfer the traded one as you get a candy for trading and for transferring. Appreciate that you have to have a surfeit of stardust to be able to do that and you likely want to be saving stardust for trading at gofest if you are going.

I’ve also changed the nickname of regional friends to either their country or vivillon region and prioritise opening/sending gifts to those regions I need the most.

I was actually doing this before the Vivillion thing because I was trying to build up local friends for lucky trades. It's worked out handy for this too so I've continued it, although so many people from Japan added me through Twitter at the moment it's hilarious when we level up our friendship and I just get a whole run of "you are now good friends with Japan" type messages. 🤣

Don't know if annereading is still around but we can level up tomorrow. You have a gift from me so would be great if you could open at 2 but if not no worries
