Has everybody got Ex Raid passes for next Saturday? Hopefully it'll be another 100% catch rate...

Welcome to the new thread.

I would go one step further and say that, provided you are regularly raiding to keep up your supply of golden razzberries, there is actually little point to the standard razzberry, period. And once you have some skill and experience with the throw and catch mechanics, there is no point to Nanabs either. I keep about 10 of either at any time, compared to ~75 each of goldens and pinaps.

MrsJamin · 06/09/2018 12:05

I tend to only feed berries when I'm actually at the gym, then they count a lot more towards the CP of the Pokemon. Nanabs are my preference as I don't use them for catching

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 06/09/2018 12:21

Thanks what. That makes sense. I'd written a post earlier but it got lost Blush

I was pretty much doing what betty was saying, I had a glut I was about to bin but hit on a gym in need. Had never seen that happen before though so got throughly confused!

TangelasVine · 06/09/2018 12:23

I throw all my nanabs at gyms for the stardust and occasional candy. Better than binning them

SirNilsOlav · 06/09/2018 14:19

I try to feed nanab and regular razz to pokemon with full health (at gyms that I don't have gold) instead of throwing away, because you get a small gym XP boost as PP said. Its not much but every little helps and I'd get nothing for just throwing them away.

I also find nanab useful for when I need a streak of excellent throws, I could do it without but it just makes it a bit quicker not having to wait for the attack movement.

BouleBaker · 06/09/2018 14:39

I do the same as you bettytaghetti. There's the extra XP an the chance of a candy, even if it is only 1 in a 100 or something.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/09/2018 14:42

Even if you use razz/nanabs when you’re at the actual gym, the CP isn’t restored that high.

I’m gold on the majority of gyms in my area, I have over 2 million stardust with all necessary Pokemon fully powered up, I have over 400 rare candies and I’ve no gaps in my dex so I don’t need the gym points/stardust/candy. The XP is too minimal.

I chuck all nanabs and razzberries and have well over a hundred golden razzberries so I use them on the occasional gym I don’t have gold on rather than taking up valuable bag slots.

So for me, I think they’re a waste, but YMMV 🤷‍♀️ Smile

MeetMeInMontauk · 06/09/2018 14:48

I find that my inventory fills up too soon if I'm holding onto multiple berry types. The gym XP can be useful, but not as immediately beneficial as extra balls or potions. I'm like the Marie Kondo of Pokémon Go: if it's not pulling its weight, it's getting blended.

MeetMeInMontauk · 06/09/2018 14:52

Just out of interest WhatToDo, where are your inventory ceilings at for Pokémon and items? 400 rare candy alone would be like 4/5ths of my capacity lol.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/09/2018 14:57

MeetMeInMontauk My bag is 1600, but I’m full to the brim; every time I spin a stop or open a gift I have to chuck items away! I need to increase it.

I have the same issue with Pokemon storage, but that’s a little lower at 1150.

SneakyGremlins · 06/09/2018 15:00

I have 400 for both Blush

MeetMeInMontauk · 06/09/2018 15:17

Nice 👍 I've a ways to go yet before I threaten those kinds of figures. I have 550 bag slot and 500 Pokémon slots. I feel that it's not a bad limit considering that I've only used currency obtained via gyms to upgrade though. Oddly, given that the whole purpose of the game is to collect mons, I find keeping their numbers down much easier than items. I do blend like crazy though, I should probably get into trading more.

eurochick · 06/09/2018 15:22

If anyone still needs friends my code is 5358 1103 3564

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 06/09/2018 15:31

Every time I upgrade my bag or storage, it seems loads but quickly fills! I agree that it’s easier to cull storage than bag.

Nest migration means my nearest park is now a Slowpoke nest so that’ll be handy when I get to the grass/psychic part of the Celebi quest. Just 3 more days of spinning Pokestops!

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/09/2018 15:34

I spend a fair bit of money on the game, hence all the item/Pokemon slots!

soupforbrains · 06/09/2018 15:40

well... I haven't hardly spent any money on the game and I too have the same bag/storage space as you. bar one pokemon storage upgrade.

SirNilsOlav · 06/09/2018 15:42

We all play differently. I've used Google reward survey money on the game but never actual money, if I had I'd probably be more invested.

As it is I'm only gold on 11 of the 40+ gyms in my city so I've got a long way to go! I have plenty of golden razz (about 175) but I tend to save them for pokemon I really want and for when I need to heal pokemon - and my berry feeding is part of why I have nearly 3 million stardust :)

MeetMeInMontauk · 06/09/2018 15:46

I've spent a lot on things for the game (Go-tcha, power packs) but none in it, which probably makes me a bit of a numpty really. Buying stuff in-game feels a bit too P2W for me though I think; I'm happier grinding my way through at a glacial pace. If there's a decent ultra box in the next couple of months though, that might tip the balance. I'm probably also a bit scared that if/when I cross that bridge, I might quickly bankrupt myself.

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 06/09/2018 15:50

well... I haven't hardly spent any money on the game and I too have the same bag/storage space as you. bar one pokemon storage upgrade.

soupforbrains Ok? I also buy a lot of ultra boxes when they’re on offer; the 50 coins a day from gyms just does not cut it.

soupforbrains · 06/09/2018 16:13

that's fair enough. It just sounded to me like you were implying the only way to get large storage capacities was to "spend a fair bit" on the game. I just wanted to offer the example that it isn't.

@SirNilsOlav the whole google survey thing is a massive helper. I can't do it myself as I'm iOS but one of my best friends does and he's got loads of pokecoins from it over the time.

SneakyGremlins · 06/09/2018 16:15

Do the prices for more space increase? As you buy more?

bettytaghetti · 06/09/2018 16:25

No they don't Sneaky, 200 coins for 50 extra, whether it's bag upgrade or pokemon storage upgrade.

As for getting to gold on most of the gyms in your area, Whattodo, I find it's now encouraging me to be adventurous and go elsewhere to try to get gold on new gyms. Have 15 gold gyms and another 9 that are close. Need other targets now, having got to level 40!

SirNilsOlav · 06/09/2018 16:38

@soup yes definitely really useful! I try to not to do paid IAP with the exception of one time "unlock whole game/remove ads" type ones so it's nice to have a way to buy pokecoins (and leaf tickets).

One of our local players is level 40 with nearly maxed out both storages through only gym coins so it definitely can be done :)

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 06/09/2018 16:40

Just soloed a Piloswine raid, first T3 I’ve soloed. Grin also got a Spinda yesterday, finally.

OhLookHeKickedTheBall · 06/09/2018 17:09

I've bought a couple of coin packages, cheap ones that is. I've played since the start so it's not much. I've upgraded my bag and storage a few times but tend to buy incubators for 10k eggs. I've probably accrued more through being in gyms than I've spent. Treated DD to a cheap package too to slightly upgrade her bag and storage. It's gym coins from now on though!
