Anybody remember this? No? Just me then. I managed to raid and catch Latios yesterday.

Will the friends have to be close geographically, or will it just be a bonus? If so, I think it will be the final nail in the coffin for me to stop playing. I’m already missing out on so much of the game because I can’t do raiding parties.

Unless any of you guys happen to be lurking around Devon at all and don’t use the fb groups? Or fancy moving to Devon? Or coming on a Pokemon based holiday to Devon?

NameyMcNameChange00 Yes, you have to be within 100m to trade. It’s to stop eBay selling and so on.

Ah, I see. Didn’t think of people doing that. I might try and get dh to start playing on his phone so I’ve at least got1 person I can swap with.

But what's to stop people logging onto another device as the other person (if they supply password etc) and making trades?

The stardust cost seems so ridiculously high to the point that I can't see the benefit particularly.

bettytaghetti Because you have to be friends to make trades, and you can only have someone on your friends list that you’ve been near and active with (ie. battles and raids).

So while that’s theoretically possible, it would take a lot of work and a hell of a lot of time to get the friendship level to a point where the stardust cost isn’t too extreme.

A lot of people with second accounts just won’t have the stardust cost to be able to trade, so it combats multiple account users too.

Does anyone know if Cloyster is worth using? I couldn't get a sensible answer from my WhatsApp group.

Kpo58 It’s not too bad. Definitely not worth powering up, but I have occasionally used it in battle.

It has good defense, but its low HP lets it down.

Cloysters are a good ice type damage and I find them very good against dragonites.

I do think they’re worth powering up btw, especially if you have one with good attack moves.

NotARegularPenguin Against Dragonite you want to be using Rayquaza (if you have it), another Dragonite, Articuno or Salamence. Walrein and Jynx are good too.

All those Pokémon are better at countering Dragonite than Cloyster is. Like I said, Cloyster has bulk but its HP is low and it’s DPS is poor too. It’s attack stat is nothing special either.

It would be a waste of stardust to power up. Whatever Pokémon you want to use it against, there are much better options out there to counter whatever Pokémon it is.

NameyMcNameChange00 I agree re the friends thing, I’m already frustrated I can’t join in raids (don’t have time, or any friends) I just go around catching rubbish Pokemon really.

At least we can swap friend codes here and gift each other item boxes (which can contain Alolan Eggs). Extra items if you are in a low pokestop area is always good.

I think they have given a lot of thought to the trading and put good measures in place to stop abuse. They have to protect against people with multi accounts, people looking to sell pokemon for real money (this is still going to happen through local fb and whattsapp groups but it will limit it), people pinching pokemon when someone leaves their phone unattended (poke-muggins as my partner calls it).

They want trading to be in so people can complete their dex but don't want people to be able to easily gather a team of 100% mon so the stats randomiser comes into that.

All in all I'm happy with it :)

Oh but I am a bit miffed with the Lapras quest coming out the day after I legged it down the quays to catch one and finally completed my Kanto deck!

I had an excellent day yesterday!

I got my 4th shiny Magikarp! 4th! It’s got the poorest IVs of all my shiny Magikarp though (highest shiny Magikarp is 93%, this is my lowest at 54%).

I also got a 2nd shiny Wailmer! Again, poorer IVs than the first at 31%.

I’d much rather find shiny Pokemon I didn’t already have though, but I suppose they’ll be handy for trading just around the corner

I got a 96% magikarp today, chuffed that I got one before the water event is over. Never seen a shiny one. I got two shiny larvitars on Saturday which is pretty good considering I didn't get loads.

Oh god saturday, was at a wedding but saved enough candy to evolve one Ttar with the special move.

Managed to catch all of 4 lavitar but one was shiny :D

@LivingDeadGirlUK Next time get a Got-cha and auto catch things when you aren't supposed to be on Pokémon Go (like at weddings).

Got-cha sounds like a good idea but its against the terms of service and I would hate to get banned after all the effort I have put into my dex should they start detecting it's use.

My partner was going to email them to ask if they were planning to support firmware updates, should Niantic start coming down on them, I will see if he got a reply!

Cloyster has got all shy and gone into hiding.

Hydro Cannon has been added to the code for the upcoming update along with many, many other things, so squirtle with hydro Cannon is looking highly likely. At least we'll be going into that one with plenty of candy and hopefully a few candidates for evolution.
