I think this year's santachu is different somehow to last year's, as it appeared as a shadow on my nearby before I caught it (and I have last year's)

Looks like Wailord is going to be the new Gyarados in terms of candies. 400 to go from Wailmer to Wailord!

cottonwool125 In terms of candies, yes, but Milotic (previous evolution Feebas) is actually Gen III's Gyarados equivalent.

It needs 100 candies and you have to walk Feebas for 20km before it turns into Milotic.

Yep, Wailord is the new Gary. Hopefully there's a shiny version, some of my local group hate that I have a Red Gary and a shiny Magikarp. I think it's hilarious! :o

WhatToDo yeah Milotic looks brilliant! Can't wait to evolve him. I just meant in terms of candies, as it's only the 2nd Pokemon that needs 400 candies. He's going to be a beast!

Wailmer has also been confirmed to be hatching from 2km eggs which should help with reaching the 400 candy mark.

I've also just seen, that the single use incubators actually start dropping from your first Pokestop spin after 21:00 tonight, not yesterday.

I got a single use incubator this morning. It is currently 3.8km through a 5km egg.

I bought an ultra box as I wanted the 8 super incubators, and am now using 2 of them to walk 10km eggs.

BouleBaker The shiny Magikarp are actually yellow/gold coloured; it's when it evolves into Gyarados that it becomes red

I've caught two shiny magikarp (so turned one into a red Gyarados), and of course several Zapdos.

For anyone who caught a Zapdos, you do have a shiny, as only the shiny Zapdos was released during raids

Also, as I mentioned above, anyone who caught Zapdos automatically has a shiny as they only released shiny Zapdos for the raids.

I've been telling the youngsters here it's not a shiny Gyarados but it's Red Gary. I'm not the only one, the local group organiser does the same. And it's catching on. :o

A conversation had yesterday with a chap my age as he was knocking my Snorlax out of a gym:-

Me: "Hi , taking the gym down?"
Him: "Yeah. You're gonna kick me straight out again aren't you?"
Me: "Am I fuck. That would be rude. I'll be back in a couple of hours though, so at least you get coin"
Him: "Wow. Wish everybody would do that!"
Me: "Let's float the idea at the next raid"

So we did. Now there's an agreement in the group that a newly taken gym has 90 minutes before it's attacked.

If you're gonna take it in a couple of hours anyway, you may as well just take it straight away as they'd only earn 12 coins!

You get 1 coin per every 10mins.

That idea floated in our group, but we all decided that it was part of the game, and the experience you get from battling and levelling up the gyms is more valuable than the meagre few coins you'd get if they left you in an hour.

I tend to leave gyms alone if I've seen a kid battling it down, anyone else is fair game.

Oddly all the names from the old Blissey Tower days are gone and they used to own all the towns round here, now poof, all gone.

We have 3 gyms in our area and obviously there are 3 teams. So we all organised days that we are in each gym and when we kick each other out to maximize coins . Doesn't always work if players are passing through and don't know our system.
