Despite only really playing at the weekend due to working I'm now 180k through Level 31. Today I cheated somewhat. The M25 was stationary, so I opened the app and left it on. I had 8 eggs cooking and between junctions 18 and 22 managed to hatch 7 of them. Mantine, 2x Exegcute, Krabby, Eevee, Togepi and Magby.

Congrats Abbey on reaching Level 30, and commiserations Spammy on not being able to log in.

Ah, seems I am not the only one to make that assumption

Igneo yes, some new gyms and some old ones have gone.

I just took about 7 minutes to battle down a solo 2700 vaporeon to take our only gym for 6 miles. It used to be much faster! And from experience I know there about 3 of us playing locally because it just switches between the 3! Not sure I will be able to pop for a battle on the way to work any mire around the school run.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 09:05

And this, too, which explains about coins and badges a bit more

Clickty-click

NamelessEnsign · 23/06/2017 09:06

Psam it makes perfect sense to test on higher levels first I guess - plus each raid point is presumably less valuable to them with the millions of XP needed!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 09:08

I battled a Snorlax earlier with my much higher CP Rhydon, I battled it twice, got the heart about half empty, but then I have to go because Big Kids came and sniggered at me so I ran away, I am 36 ffs So I think battles will generally take longer. Before the update I am pretty sure I would have taken the gym out in one go.

Igneococcus · 23/06/2017 09:15

I wish they would not have removed gyms in rural areas, it's not like we had an enormous number of the in the first place or have 4G at all the ones that are there.

BumWad · 23/06/2017 09:17

Hello long time no see!

I'm still on level 32. I can't get my head around this new gym thing. Will have a walk out later when it stops raining.

Quite a few around here are level 36/37/38. They are regulars and I'm pretty sure they don't cheat.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 09:28

BumWad - there's not much to get your head around.

Basically, it's very similar to how it was. One team holds a gym, you can battle that gym with your Pokémon, and instead of the prestige counter going down, the enemy Pokémon's happiness rating goes down (as indicated by a heart graphic above each Pokémon). Once you have battled the gym down, you can put your Pokémon in the gym.

If your (or other team member's) Pokémon are not completely happy, their heart will be a little bit empty, so you can feed them a berry. The less happy a Pokémon is, the less well it can fight, so it makes sense for the team to feed them.

Coins are now awarded on an hourly basis, and you get them when a Pokémon comes home to you after being defeated. You get one coin per hour, apparently.

You can also spin the gyms as pokestops. First, click into the gym, then you will see a little photo disc icon. Click this and you can then spin the photo disc.

Raids are not really in effect right now, so don't worry about that yet. Apart from that, nothing has changed. You still battle in the same way, is clicking the hell out of the opposing Pokémon and doing an occasional special attack.

Natsku · 23/06/2017 09:28

Glad the cheaters are getting penalised.

I bet my local gyms have been taken over by the red team already, they always take over the gyms. I like the sound of the new coin system though. Just need to persuade OH to drive me to town today as I left my bike in town and can't really walk at the moment (foot is buggered) so I can check out the gyms.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 09:33

Candy and stardust as rewards for feeding Pokémon, apparently. Haven't done it yet but that would be awesome. Can anyone confirm?

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 09:42

Pokémon Go have confirmed on twitter that raids will be available to more players over the next few days.

Even more info on new gyms and raids, from Pokémon Go

NamelessEnsign · 23/06/2017 09:49

Igneo - our local gym is just the same. Patchy 3G (lots of huge trees) mean the app glitches in and out and you can't see what what you're doing in battles.

Igneococcus · 23/06/2017 10:00

Namelessensign the three (now two) gyms I can access actually have really good 4G signal (O2) but 6 miles down the road in the little town where there are a few more gyms, I can't access them 95% of the time. The weather makes a difference for me, sounds weird but it really does, on a clear day, rare at the West coast of Scotland, I have a better chance to access the gyms there.

Bimblesalong · 23/06/2017 10:46

Wondering if someone has had a pop at one of mine. Took ten berries today to get him back up to half cp. he's now dropping again. Think I'll let them knock him out and then pop him back in if there's space, since he will be later in th list for being beaten up! My other one in another gym was first in, but didn't want any berries, so maybe no one has yet had a pop at him.

WooWooSister · 23/06/2017 10:59

I agree the battles are taking much longer. DS was fighting one flareon and it took about 10 minutes. If that gym had had more than one pokemon, he'd never have been able to take it.

Natsku · 23/06/2017 11:13

Getting a lift to town but now its started raining, bugger

SomewhatIdiosyncratic · 23/06/2017 11:56

I got into 3 gyms this morning. One had a slot available, two I knocked out some opposition. I'm on the dominant team, so it's refreshing that they are getting a foothold. Under the previous system, the gyms could get quite stagnant for weeks. Nice if you were in there collecting coins, but frustrating for solo opposition players or not being able to get in because it's trained into maximum.

I did 3 laps of the woods so stocks of items have recovered a bit from the event. I found that the pokestops were being a bit stingy too with far too many purple potions and not enough balls, particularly the blue and yellow.

It's worth bearing in mind that highest CP pokemon will deplete quicker than lower CPs. They're also fought in order of entry, not CP.

I have seen spoofing in action in the past. A few months back the gyms were dominated by a cluster of high level, high CP, rare Valour pokemon, out of keeping with the usual Instinct dominance. I tried taking over a gym, and while I revived my pokemon to put in, 3 invisible men called DishyFella, DishyFella2 and Dishyfella3 (Hmm) took it back over again. Because the game is fixed on physical opportunities, that has denied legitimate players access to resources to progress. A fortnight frozen out by spoofers is one or two incubators of coins.

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 12:12

Somewhat - can you just slot right into a gym if there are fewer than 6 Pokémon already in it? Or do you have to friendly-fight your way in, like in the pre-update days?

inniu · 23/06/2017 12:13

Well one of my guys got kicked out of a gym and I have a notification that another needs a berry but so am at work do can't do that.

I am level 34 so need to try to get another 900,000 XP to do raids

WooWooSister · 23/06/2017 13:00

3 of our 5 pokemon got kicked out this morning with a message saying they battled hard 😂 14 pokecoins for each one. DS is going out to feed the 2 we have left and to try to retake one of the gyms whilst it only has one pokemon in it.

TrashPanda · 23/06/2017 13:20

Possum do you have a screen shot of your banned Blissey? I'd read they were going to do that.

You won't have to wait until level 35 to raid, that's just for Beta, it will be rolled out to lower levels and more areas soon.

I like the new gyms but you do seem to lose motivation quickly. They are changing hands here so quickly at the moment. I'm on the local Facebook group for Instinct and they work together! They plan where they are going to go, take all the gyms in that area and fill them up. They have also agreed to feed each other berries. Very organised.

PenguinOfDoom · 23/06/2017 13:28

Blimey! The pokestop I can reach from my desk has turned into a gym!

I managed to drop a rhydon into a gym this morning on my way to work so will see what happens.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 23/06/2017 13:29

can you just slot right into a gym if there are fewer than 6 Pokémon already in it?

In friendly gyms, as long as there are less than six then you can just slot one in Smile

DH and I are now in 6 gyms Grin Blue is dominant once more!

PsammeadPaintedTheLion · 23/06/2017 13:52

I wonder what will happen to the 'Ace Trainer' badge then, if training is no longer a thing.

Natsku · 23/06/2017 13:58

Stopped raining so visited some gyms - Yellow has taken over town for a change! Took one off them that had two pokemon in, then tried to take another but it had three 'mon and my battery was getting low so gave up. Found a friendly gym on my way home though and put another one in there and fed berries to the other 'mon. I like this new gym system even though it does take longer to take a gym down. I like that you can use revives and potions without having to leave the gym altogether, plus very very nice being able to spin the gym, quite generous too - got 4 10k eggs on the go now!

Its Midsummer weekend so most people are away at their summer cottages so think I'll go for another bike ride later today or tomorrow and try and take some more gyms.
