Hello you lovely lot. Nowt new today, but at least I caught a couple of Squirtles and have enough candy to get Wartortle, so that's 4 to add to my Pokedex when I do a Lucky Egg mass evolve.

Jellywitch I just tried out my dewgong in a friendly gym. Thanks so much for the info, s/he kicked ass! My CP1247 dewgong was wicked against a CP2642 dragonite. I didnt realise the right sort of poke made such a difference in a gym. Am going to be more methodical about gyming and do my homework next time before I leap in!

We're now halfway through level 26 & have caught 116 & seen 135. Still no lapras or arcanine, which we're desperate for!!

I'm glad for the changes to the gyms as it means we can fight again & get in! Also, thanks for the tip re swapping Pokemon during fighting to save a little HP so that revives aren't needed! That's working well for us .

Anyone know why there are so many Onix's around? Also when is gen 2 likely to happen?

Onix evolve into steelix in gen 2 - there's a theory that those Pokemon with a gen 2 evolution are more populous at the moment. Guess I should be saving candy.

Still haven't made it to a PokeStop today, having forgotten my phone for the school run.

I decided to go out and chase the shadow, it was a Wheezing, over 1000cp which was nice. Also found several spawning points near me, none on my road but on the roads either side of mine so if I go for a walk 'round the block' I can get several pokemon. Shall have to go for another walk again soon, and go to the nearest pokestop so I can get my 7 day streak. Will do my lucky egg mass evolve at the same time.

Hope we get the thanksgiving event then, just for the hatches and distances!

Been out this morning and caught a ponyta, my 2nd one ever and a wild 1300CP poliwrath! Have got 91 poliwag candy now that I can save for gen 2 to get politoed
I think you're right about the gen 2 origin pokemon being more common now, ive got enough eevee candy for at least 2 of each, almost enough horsea for a kingdra and enough for a slowking.

What do you all do about catching Pokemon with a high CP, that you probably don't want? I used 2 Great Balls and a couple of razberries on a 800 Raticate but why? I still only get 100 XP for catching it and only one candy for trading it in. I think the higher Pokemon should be worth catching, even if you're not going to keep and power them up.

I just ignore the ones I don't want so wouldn't have attempted to get the raticate. If it is one I want and it's good cp then I use raspberries and Great/ultra balls and try to do a curveball (ds better at curving it than me)

Very excited to report I am 19 candies from evolving my magikarp walking buddy!!

Anyone know how many evee/Seadra /Poliwag/Onix candy to save for gen 2? Am also noticing more of these!

igneococus Zubat, Oddish, poliwag, slowpoke, Onix, chansey, porygon, Horsea, scyther, evee on that link. Variable numbers of candies suggested. Just realised I have 250 evee candy saved. May be excessive!

I have 90 Eevee candies at the moment and Eevees are everywhere, so are zubats and oddishes, Onixes aren't uncommon in my part of Scotland, but I haven't even enough Slowpokes to evolve a Slowbro, sigh.

Cooroo I just have a look and see if they are a higher CP than the ones I ahve already. If they are lower I dont bother or I might try and chuck one ball at it. I certainly dont waste loads of balls on something I'll probably just transfer anyway. In fact with most pokemon now I have a 3 ball rule! Unless it is something that I actually want of course.

Hi all I also lost the thread when a new one started! Up to level 23 now, also tonnes of Eevee's around here as well as shelder, also seem to have a few abras and koffing spawning right outside my house all of which are good for candies. Halfway through budding eggescute seems to be going very slow though

I've got a few I'm still waiting to evolve need to save up enough for a lucky egg session sometime. I've got a seel and a Sandslash where I have one around 200cp with perfect ivs and then ones around 450cp with absolute rubbish ivs been waiting for weeks now to find a decent one to evolve!

Also does anyone know if the move follow through evolution? I've been looking into the better moves for certain pokermon and wondered if I need to be checking through the moves as well as ivs before evolving?

Oddish 100 for bellossom (I have 83)
Poliwag 100 for politoed (I have 93)
Slowpoke 50 or 100 for sloking (I have 43 so hope for 50!)
Onix 50 for steelex (I have 59)
Chansey 50 for blissey (I have 33)
Horsea 100 for Kingdra (I have 55)
Scyther 50 for scizor (I have 23)
Evee 25 each for espeon and umbreon (suggests day and night might decide which) (I have 250, with lots to bin)
Porygon 50 for porygon 2 (I have 19)

This gives me something to work for!

I would get the raticate because with bite and hyper beam they are great all rounders for prestiging gyms.

Moves are random through evolution

That's really useful longtime. I might stop evolving these and saving the candies instead.

I've 76 onyx, 75 zubat and 65 horsey so will be saving those. All the others I've spent too many but will be mindful from now on.

Good (ish) day here. Cashed in on 6 gyms again and levelled up one from 7 to 8 so should hopefully stay in that one at least.
Also caught an execute and am now on 39 candy (my buddy).
An abra ran away. It's the third one on the trot that does that. That is my next buddy as I'm on 65 and these escapades are really annoying me.

Very excited today - in a spot where I have been dozens of times before, I came across a wild Snorlax and caught it easily with a couple of great balls. It's a strong 1969 HP one, and I'm delighted!

nuttelladreams, the Abras are infuriating. Whilst buddying an Abra for candy I had about half a dozen poof on me. Since getting enough candy I've managed to catch quite a few. Typical! At least I did a chunk of my buddying of him during the Halloween event or it would have been even more annoying.

Oh, LunaLoveg00d, my DD will be so jealous. She is desperate for a Snorlax.

Couple of questions, we are off to centre parcs next week in Elvedon. Any idea what the pokemon hunting is like?
Also, I've really only just started fighting in gyms. When I get a pokemon in and my shield shows as 1, can I fight more gyms before collecting? If so, what happens if I get knocked out before collecting? Do I lose my coins?

Nutella I met someone on a pokemon hunt (we were at a nest walking same pace so got chatting) who said Abra always teleported in the game after one chance. So you only get one shot at it. It's useful, cause I always use raspberries and use a better ball than I would for their xp to ensure a catch. And a curve ball. It certainly improved things.
