Pokemon Go #4. I'm a Pokemon trainer - get Meowth of here!

Hello you lovely lot. Nowt new today, but at least I caught a couple of Squirtles and have enough candy to get Wartortle, so that's 4 to add to my Pokedex when I do a Lucky Egg mass evolve.

So nearby is now pokestop related? What if something is down the bottom of the road? Confused

Not 100% but I think its just nearest pokestop. Which works great if you're somewhere packed out with pokestops but not so great if you're in a sparse area.

It looks as if you are only shown the location of the nearest Pokestop to the Pokémon, not its exact location. So useful in a densely populated region but less so elsewhere.

I have those pictures now that I'm at work and it shows them for the two pokestops which are close enough to see on the edge of the map. There were no pictures when I was still at home where there is no stop close enough to show on the map.

Jellywitch - maybe you're half way through the update that brings the nearby feature and shows which pokestops the pokemon are close to ?

How far, MakeMyWineADouble? Mine are within 5-10 mins walk, never more than that. But it's useful because pokestops are literally in opposite directions so now I know whether to venture one way or the other.

I live rurally but on a golf course and near a park. Always had loads of Pokemon to catch but no Pokestops. Now i can only see Pokemon when in town and near Pokestops. None anywhere else. Bad update. I won't be playing any longer.

Nope - the pictures do show in the village but at home the sighting looks as before because no stops are visible on my screen. I'm not impressed - it tells me what's right in front of me or what's at a stop half a mile away. There are still Pokemon spawning at home though (better ones than at the stop!!)

Yep, it's useless in a not built up area. Ii can just see a stop on the map, from the local school. It's across a couple of fields so it's a 20 minute walk to actually get to it. All the Pokémon in sightings had 3 footsteps, even when I was right on top of them.

We just get the grass back when we are out of sight of the stop.

And definitely fewer spawns in sightings, this morning. I only got ones that were actually in sight on the map.

I had no sightings for ages I have completely shut the down the app and restarted my phone it's working now.

Um the furthest is just under 1.5 miles if google maps is correct! And definitely not all on my screen I could only see 2 of the stops showing on my screen Confused they are on my regular route though so maybe that's why? but yeah handy as they are all over the place! I agree all are showing on nearby anymore though had a charmander pop up not showing anywhere so it might be easier to miss things!!

blueskyinmarch, Jellywitch - so did those non-pokestop related rural pokemon appear in sightings before but don't appear in Nearby? Is that right? That's rubbish if that's true.

I always had lots of pokemon in the nearby/sightings bit - anything from 3 to 9. Having just walked from town to my home i can definitely say that i am getting nothing in my sightings until they are there on the path in front of me. So a whole lot of nothing until my phone buzzed and a pidgy appeared in sightings and also on the path in front of me. I now have no way of knowing what is around me. I used to love pokemoning whilst walking my dog but i can’t be arsed of i can’t see what is around.

Great - so now I know what's near a Pokestop that's 'nearby' as the crow flies but is actually across a river and a railway track and means a two-mile walk to the nearest bridge, but I don't know what's thirty seconds away at the spawn point at the end of my road. DS is going to get immensely frustrated if something juicy pops up on the wrong side of the river and DH isn't here or doesn't fancy driving him there (I don't drive atm for medical reasons). Blooming marvellous. This might just have killed the game for us.

Am in Inner London. Gym at top of road, my 9 "nearby" Pokémon are linked to 7 different Pokéstops - but it doesn't tell me what's coming at the 2 spawn points in range of my house. Even here you find good-sized patches between Pokéstops which'll leave the same uselessnesses.

Epic EPIC fail. What were they THINKING?! Has something terrible happened & this update is an attempt to alert the outside world to the fact they are in awful trouble? Rawrgh.
