songbird I've flipped onto pc to try to namechange. Fingers crossed I've managed. Mobile kept kicking me off, so that's user1471 etc checking in.

Used the incense on a boat again (so no spawns). Two Pikachu, and a few other less common ones! No Pidgey and ratatta or weedle! Did a 30k lucky egg evolving session too!

Thanks to those who encouraged me to wait to do the double evolve for nidoking and Queen...look what I have!

Now on 118 seen and 118 caught. Grin 13 lines in bingo.

Just for info, from the boat with incense. Definitely worth the incense! Loving the ivysaur since Bulbasaur is a rarity!

Yay Hunter - no-one will mistake you for a Goady Fucker now

Everyone is doing so much better than me - I think it's coz I don't have a car and my battery just doesn't last even though I got a pack!

hollinhurst84 · 19/09/2016 23:37

I ran out the house in balloon dog pjs to catch this ConfusedBlush

I hoped no one would assume trolling on a pokemon thread songbird but glad I got it changed!

I now have three battery packs Blush and have been all over the country this month which has helped. Add to that rural living plus incense on necessary boat trips and it all helps! Can't wait to go to London next month, seriously considering the pokemon go plus to make my hunting less obvious....

reddA · 19/09/2016 23:49

Time for a rest now I think - until Gen II Grin

Shockwell done red I'm a lowly 24!

reddA · 20/09/2016 00:10

Only 500,000 to get to 31 Lurker! Lol - it's getting silly now, especially as there's no incentive to go out searching for pokemon, I need Aerodactyl and they don't spawn at all here so i'm reliant on 10k eggs (Ha!). I'm back to just catching pidgeys, weedles and caterpie for the candy. I am enjoying gym battles though but I do find they are hard to build up but too easy to take down, it could do with some adjustment imo.

LongtimeLurkerNowPokemonHunter · 20/09/2016 00:12

Just looked and the plus isn't available until after my trip Sad I've got three aerodactyl, swap?! Grin I really want lapras!

reddA · 20/09/2016 00:42

I have been promised an Aerodactyl from Pidgeys - but you are welcome to a lapras anyway :) I could do with a decent snorlax actually, mine are all good CP but crap when appraised - need to hatch one really but the few 10k eggs i've had seem to only produce Eevee, Electabuzz and Onix.

QueenLizIII · 20/09/2016 01:11

I have a 766 Nidorina and a 751 Nidorino. Are they worthy of evolving?

I havent the candy to do it so it is moot. But should i hold out for better CP to evolve?

nuttelladreams · 20/09/2016 07:17

Well done red. Ill get there by xmas 2017!

Longtime - I've tried the incense trick as I had been lurking here and read about it and it didn't work. Maybe not secluded enough. I will try again when I get free ones but I'm not buying any.

I've also no hope of catching new ones around here. All I can do is try to collect candy to evolve the least common ones.

I'm in London next Tuesday and refuse to come without a pikachu and a Lapras Grin

FrogTime · 20/09/2016 07:20

nutella i think incense is only worth it if you're going after something specific. So when I was hell bent on getting my blastoise i used incense around the lake where I get squirtle and got around a third more than usual. Plus some weird and random ones!
I'd also use if I was going back to cleethorpes seafront for sandshrews Smile

Level 30! I've just crept into L16. Although I've not used any lucky eggs yet, I'm trying to get the right Pokemon to evolve.

Ds1 (17) had just looked at me in bemusement as I explained (badly) about lower CP Pokemon in gyms and bubble attack.

I'm now having great success with the FastPokeMap and was able to get a local Venomoth, direct DS1 to a Squirtle and take to DD hunt Charmanders :)

IhatchedaSnorlax · 20/09/2016 09:57

The bubble attack link didn't work for me - can someone explain it please (in simple terms!)? Thanks!

FrogTime · 20/09/2016 11:05

I think that if you pick a low HP pokemon to put into a grey gym (10HP horsea being the best example) and then sit and train that gym with a slightly better pokemon with good opposition moves (best example being a diglet with mud shot) the diglet will take out the horsea with 1 move, taking no damage itself and earning 500 prestige for the gym. Keep doing it and within 10/15 mins you can achieve a level 10 gym for others to join.
My problem would be that as soon as it was full you're be out on your arse first when another team showed up and you'd have to fight the hard way to raise yourself another spot to put a high value pokemon in.

Bubble strat is a technique that allows you to level up a gym quickly by using low level Pokemon to defend and an even lower level Pokemon to train.

Eg you catch a 10cp polliwag with a bubble move as it's quick attack and power it to 20cp. Now the bubble move is slow enough that a 10cp magnetite beats it before it can charge its main attack.

As the cp is twice that of the training Pokemon you get a tonne of xp and can quickly raise the prestige of the gym.

There are charts available which show which level Pokemon with certain moves this works with.

Problem is most of us are at a level where 10cp Pokemon are rarer than drangonites!

Had a major disappointment last night. A Dragonair appeared on our sightings last night, so we tracked it down on Fastpokemap. Drove round the corner and found it, for it to run after escaping from my first ultra ball Shock It was only 458 CP! My partner's one was ??? CP and didn't run after using all his ultra balls and around 20 great balls. He's got dyspraxia so got me to catch it for him otherwise he'd run out of balls (he misses more than I do). I was pleased that I managed to catch it for him, but really disappointed that I didn't get mine.

SoupDragon · 20/09/2016 12:00

So, I have a 12 CP Squirtle with Bubble. Do I stick it in a spare slot in a gym or fight with it?

QueenLizIII · 20/09/2016 12:52

I caught a Dragonair a month ago: 73 CP.....!

Not worth evolving. I am not saving up 100 candies to evolve a 73 CP Dragonair. So I'll have to evolve one of my Dratini's and start again. My Dratini is 404 CP so 'll have to save candies for that and start again once that is done.

Itsoverpeople · 20/09/2016 13:18

soup you would take a gym and install your Squirtle as the defender then fight another of your own Pokemon against it.

Here is a chart showing suitable candidates.

I'm confused by the bubble thing. Is this good?

If the gym is already my team, should I go stick my Squirtle in it?

I need to know so I can seem more knowledgable than my children!

tumpymummy · 20/09/2016 13:59

I thought I was getting the hang of gyms, but what I dont like is the fact that you cant collect anymore coins for another 21 hours. It means there's no incentive to go to a gym until the 21 hours is up? Gyms change hands so quickly where I live there's no hope of a pokemon staying in a gym for more than a few hours.
