Cornwall would be great

OP posts:
Seashor · 07/10/2023 23:45

The Lake District and Scotland. I’m really put off by the thought of mozzies though.

CesareBorgia · 07/10/2023 23:47

I'd love to go to the Scottish Highlands and Islands - particularly Barra. Never been further into Scotland than Glasgow and Edinburgh. Also would be interested to visit Belfast.

Beautifulsunflowers · 07/10/2023 23:48

It’s been years since I went to Cornwall so I’d live TiVo back there.
@Seashor Ive been to the Lake District a couple of times and didn’t see any mozzies. August both times.

Ohmylovejune · 07/10/2023 23:49

Scottish Highlands.

I'm in Cornwall and it's sooooo far away.

MehtotheChristmasrunup · 07/10/2023 23:49

Havent done the east coast further up than Suffolk. Been to Lincoln which was lovely but would like to go to Norfolk and to Newcastle.

Bongosbanjo · 07/10/2023 23:50

York, only visited briefly, such a lot of history.

TootiiFrootii · 07/10/2023 23:50

Another one for the Highlands. Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands too.

AFieldGuideToTrees · 07/10/2023 23:53

I've pretty much been to every corner of the UK. I'd like to explore Northern Ireland and Wales a bit more as I've not visited them nearly as much as I have areas across Scotland and England.

MehtotheChristmasrunup · 07/10/2023 23:54

For me HS2 always was a bit 🙄I mean the west side of the U.K. has the M6 and trains run into Birmingham. But how the the heck do you go west to east? There’s only the M4 / M5 and that’s only useful if you are near London. ? The M1 is pretty much down the middle. It’s like half the country isn’t a thing.

Firefretted · 07/10/2023 23:56

Suffolk coast. Absolute nightmare to get to on public transport

TooBigForMyBoots · 07/10/2023 23:57

The Highlands and Islands. Before or after midgie season, not during.

Scilly. I love a micro climate.😍

975zyx · 08/10/2023 00:28

Northumberland, I’ve never been.

Also the Wye valley.

Inkypot · 08/10/2023 00:31

Seashor · 07/10/2023 23:45

The Lake District and Scotland. I’m really put off by the thought of mozzies though.

Can confirm in 45 years of living in Scotland I've never once seen a mosquito.
Midges? Aye. Mozzies? Never.
Midges are not scary though so you'd be fine. C'mon up! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

theduchessofspork · 08/10/2023 00:31

I’d like to spend more time in Northumberland and the borders - I have been but only a few times.

I’ve been to the highlands a lot, but still lots I haven’t explored. I’d like to go to the Shetlands, Orkney and Bute.. also the Scilly Isles, Jersey.. lots of islands. Haven’t spent much time in Wales since I was a child so I’d like to do more of that.

Thighdentitycrisis · 08/10/2023 01:14

Cumbria and the Lakes, Northumbria
( yes I’m in the south)

Wolfen · 08/10/2023 09:48

Scottish highlands. Loved it so much when I went once. I want to go back and see more.

Sgtmajormummy · 08/10/2023 09:58

The Llynn peninsula is on my bucket list.
I’ve driven past Hadrian’s wall and not stopped too many times.
Durham would be a good city break.
And I’ve forgotten the town with the Writers’ Festival.

Basically I’ll go anywhere because for me the planning is as much fun as the event!

Sommerled · 08/10/2023 21:52

Pembrokeshire
Isles of Scilly
Jersey
Shetland
Cotswolds

MariePaperRoses · 08/10/2023 23:20

The Moray Coast of Scotland.

Gloriously · 12/10/2023 16:39

The islands - Orkneys, Hebrides - I love the idea of wild barren remoteness......also Scilly Isles but not when busy.

minipie · 12/10/2023 16:42

There are loads - Scottish highlands, North Wales, Pembrokeshire, Cornwall, Peak District, Cumbria, Herefordshire - but only if I could guarantee dry weather. Unfortunately I am not someone who enjoys rainy holidays.

Thebigblueballoon · 12/10/2023 16:43

Would love to go back to Uist, Berneray, Lewis and Harris again. And extend the trip to other beautiful and remote parts of the Hebrides. Would highly recommend a road trip to anyone.

Funf · 13/10/2023 11:12

Southwold, its on the list just not got around to it

RaraRachael · 13/10/2023 11:14

I think the only county in England I've never been to is Shropshire which I'm told is lovely.

@Seashor if you're concerned about visiting Scotland because of midges, come to the East coast - none here!

KohlaParasaurus · 13/10/2023 11:26

Derry. Every time I go to NI it's on the long list of places I need to visit, but I haven't got there yet.
The Scottish border towns.
