I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts - I like mini series, so like Bear Brook, Broken Hearts and recently I listened to My Aunt & The Hitman on the Foul Play podcast which was excellent

Any others like this that you would recommend?

I've just finished The Teacher's Pet, what the hell will I listen to next ,what will top it? It was brilliant and I could listen to Headley's voice all day long!

Have you listened to The Lady Vanishes? There are lots of episodes so maybe start with the catch up episodes. I can tell you what number they are if you need it.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 30/10/2023 23:20

Thanks, just found it!

Barbiegirl2013 · 30/10/2023 23:25

Came here for new suggestions but was surprised nobody has mentioned Anatomy of Murder or Deathbed Confessions. Two of my favourites! The others I like have been mentioned already :)

Try Shandee's story for another Hedley investigation. Totally agree on his voice - so soothing.

One that was just released is Exposed: Cover up at Columbia university.

Just finished it, it was very good.

I agree with you about Headley's voice. Try Someone Knows Something. David Ridgen's voice is another one I could listen to all day. He's also a very similarly ethical journalist. Likewise Bill Rankin's podcast Breakdown (from the Atlanta Journal Constitution.) The second season in particular is an incredibly level and fair look at a heartbreaking case.

Hereforthedramaz · 31/10/2023 17:35

It's actually a mockumentary but This Sounds Serious is brilliant.

Mini series of a faux true crime podcast, there are 3 series.

I'd really recommend it

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 31/10/2023 23:07

I'm 5 episodes into The Last Vanishes, it's great. Have taken a note of all the other recommendations, thanks 😊

SlightlyJaded · 31/10/2023 23:31

Lots of the ones mentioned here.

Recently really enjoyed Scamanda - not murder, but proper jaw-dropping true crime. Multi-episode series.

Also 'In the Dark' (The New Yorker series)
'Suspect'

And almost anything Serial does or any Wondery True Crime. Great productions.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 04/11/2023 12:31

The Lady Vanishes is very good but sooo long, I think they could edit at least a quarter of the episodes,I find myself skipping forward a lot.

SerenityNowInsanityLater · 04/11/2023 14:52

Teacher’s Pet and The Lighthouse are both excellent. The Lady Vanishes is a worthy listen but I wish it had been better edited. Yes to David Ridgen. He’s not only excellent at what he does but, like Hedley Thomas from The Teacher’s Pet, he’s got a great voice and approach towards people. Very sensitive and considerate. Connie Walker is another great Canadian journalist who delves into the murders of indigenous women.

Weallgottachangesometime · 04/11/2023 15:02

Just started teachers pet. Thanks for the suggestion!

cheezncrackers · 04/11/2023 15:09

Cold (first series is excellent - the ultimate 'deep dive' podcast)
Paradise
The Teacher's Pet
The Lighthouse

And the one I don't really like: Crime Junkie - which I find a) distastefully sensationalist and b) a 'case a week' nonsense of info cobbled together from the internet/newspapers that doesn't offer much in the way of depth or analysis.

Paradise was really excellent.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 26/11/2023 12:45

I've finished The Lady Vanishes, I honestly think at least half of it is repetition and waffle. Otherwise it's good. Seem to end rather abruptly though?

Just started My Sister's Secrets but finding it a bit gruesome and very graphic so might have to stop listening to that and try Paradise instead which looks promising.

Have they finished it yet? I think it still gets updated as and when. Has the coroner returned a verdict yet? Weren’t the6 waiting for something?

Pootle40 · 27/11/2023 12:28

The lady vanishes isn't finished. They are still waiting on coroner's verdict and then fingers crossed criminal proceedings

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 27/11/2023 17:46

Ah right, that makes sense. I'm new to podcasts 🤣

I'm listening to The Teachers Trial which is the trial of Chris Dawson in The Teachers Pet now.

Headley Thomas again ,honestly his voice... <swoon>

Lifesapurpledream · 27/11/2023 18:02

The Prosecutors take on the Adnan Syed case provided lots more detail and completely changed my mind

DrDisrespect · 15/01/2024 17:08

The casual criminalist (on Spotify and YouTube)

efeslight · 15/01/2024 17:43

Used to like my favourite murder and Redhanded but gone off them a bit as the crimes are treated in a lighthearted fashion which I find uncomfortable.
Listening to Down the hill and West Cork at the moment

Witchbitch20 · 20/07/2024 21:49

For the Headley Thomas fans, he’s back.

Just want to warn people before starting to listen that 2 episodes are subscriber only. Pissed me off as I already subscribe to Spotify,I don't want to pay twice. Hope this doesn't become a common thing for pod casts.
