I listen to a lot of true crime podcasts - I like mini series, so like Bear Brook, Broken Hearts and recently I listened to My Aunt & The Hitman on the Foul Play podcast which was excellent

Any others like this that you would recommend?

They Walk Among Us
My hub and I put it on every weds night before sleep and we joke that we require Benjamin's dulcet tones informing us the podcast is not suitable for younger audiences before we turn the light off!

In surprised not to see True Crime Society mentioned, mainly US crimes but if you follow true crimes you'll have heard of most of them. I think there's a new episode wekly

I’m enjoying Psychopedia at the moment

Red handed. But also I'm here for placemarking!

I absolutely love The Missing and have never found anything better than it despite trying loads of others. Pandora Sykes has a very soothing voice.

I can't bear the two women who do Red Handed. They are so irritating.

Teachers Pet is good and I like Kendall Rae too.

I agree re red handed and some of the stuff they find funny just seems odd given the subject matter. Tried it, but not for me.

The Lady Vanishes

I'm patiently (?!) waiting the coroner's verdict.

Pushkinini · 21/09/2023 19:15

@Pootle40 me too. I've been an avid listener since it started. Hope the family get some answers.

Me too. Unbelievable what the podcast and super sleuths discovered from that one paper ad.

I’m currently listening to the Lady Vanishes on Spotify after seeing it recommended on here, it’s about Marion Barter in Australia who disappeared in 1997.

Her daughter is on lots of the episodes and seems like a lovely woman, the presenter Alison on the other hand just comes across as quite nasty or maybe just unpleasant.

Either way I would recommend the podcast as it’s quite fascinating.

I wonder if the real Fernand Remekel ever got an apology from 7news, I felt that the way the hounded him was terrible, I think they called his house really early in the morning and bombarded him with questions. Goodness knows what he thought was happening!!

At one point Sally was taking about how bad she felt for knocking on his door and the presenter of the podcast completely changed the subject.

CamdenLurker · 21/09/2023 20:30

Sorry this was to Pushkini and Pootle40.

The Teacher’s Trial
Shandee’s Story
The Trial of Lucy Letby

Small Town Dicks is good. It’s presented by Yeardley Smith (the voice of Lisa Simpson) and Detectives Dave and Dan and Paul Holes. They have a different guest on each week to talk about a crime….

I know what you mean. I don't warm to Brian or Alison in the same way as Hedley Thomas who did the teachers pet.

I like The Casual Criminalist, quite a fun concept where the host reads a script he hasn't seen before and reacts as he goes along.

Marking my place for suggestions. I've just finished The Trial of Lucy Letby which should be essential listening for anyone who thinks she didn't do it as it's very clear by episode 3 she did ! That got me through a really nasty dose of Covid when all I could do was lie in bed and listen to it .

Now on The Teachers Pet which is fascinating/sad/ infuriating/ horrifying and gripping in equal measures.

blahblahblahandblahsomemore · 21/10/2023 17:56

Something inbetween podcast and drama - lovecraft investigations. It’s totally brilliant.
