what can you buy for £300k in your area?

In terms of housing. I live in the pretty part of a big Scottish city and you can get a 80 square meter 2 bed flat for that here.

A one bed above a shop is the only one in my area. In the neighbouring, less popular, borough, there are quite a few 1 bed flats. I am in outer London.

Maybe, just maybe, a small two bed terrace in one of the outlying villages with poor transport connections.

Maybe a parking space in an undesirable neighbourhood?

I live in Manhattan.

Probably a 3 bed semi/detached in the nicest part of the area, maybe a 4/5 bed in a less nice area

You can get a 2 bed semi detached or a 3 bed terraced house for that in my part of Edinburgh.

3/4 bed new build. Or two 3 bedroom terraced houses. After reading other property threads I imagine this wouldn’t buy anything in areas such as London, the one thing I’m grateful for is the low prices in my area compared to other parts of the UK.

I saw a TikTok about rental prices in Manhattan recently. Absolutely crazy so I can imagine you not getting anything to buy for £300k!

2 bed apartments in Aylesbury or Slough

Small-ish 3 bed detached

Cheshire market town, 3 bed terrace, garden, 78 meters squared, needs renovation, in catchment of good primary and two good secondaries, large 50s estate, loads of families.

A 3 bed semi needing a bit of updating, or 2 x 1 bedroom flats in a desirable school catchment in a Scottish city.

I live in one of the most expensive areas in SE . Quite a few 2 bedroom houses in decent villages within 3 miles of our town .

Not a great deal coming up on a rightmove search but they're either 2/3 bed terraces in a nicer area or a standard 3 bed semi in the less desirable areas. Greater Manchester.

50m2 one bed flat for £300k or a 38m2 one bed above a restaurant which is a snip at £275k. Outer London borough, both in a nice area, the second flat sits opposite houses that routinely sell for £1m+.

🙄 yet I chose a town in Kent and there’s 394 properties for sale under £300k including 3 bed terraced houses.

Depends what you mean by "your area". Within a mile or so it would be a 2 bed flat, or maybe a 3 bed flat on a main road.

A little over a mile away there are some 2-bed houses, mostly rather ugly.
