what can you buy for £300k in your area?

In terms of housing. I live in the pretty part of a big Scottish city and you can get a 80 square meter 2 bed flat for that here.

I’m surprised London has flats cheaper than other areas, surely that will filter out and flat prices in other areas will be impacted?

2 bed semi

North Oxfordshire town. A small 3 bed semi or a decent 2 bed semi.

A wing of a country house, 4 beds. A 2 bed cottage with 1 acre of land. A 4 bed town house.

also my dc rented a London flat after graduating. It was one room plus tiny bathroom. Flat was pushing it as a description.

Very little (middle class rural area.) Maybe a 2 bed semi that needs a lot of work doing to it... (One that's done up would go for £375K,) but not much else... No flats in my area.

You could buy two 2 bed houses in move-in condition for that in my part of Fife.

I put 5 miles in my Rightmove search. I’d say that’s my ‘area’ , not my postcode. If we were looking at school catchment, nothing is the answer, so I suppose what ‘your area’ means to people.

Just outside Belfast - a 3 bed detached or possibly a 4 bed semi. That’s if you buy an established house. If you want to buy one of the gazillions of new builds, you’ll pay another £100-150,000, even though the garden will be the size of a postage stamp and you needn’t bother putting on weight because if you’re wider than a wheelie bin, you’ll get stuck round the side of your house🤣 I do appreciate that houses are at the cheaper end of the scale here overall. Wages are lower though.

2 bed, mid terrace new build ex social housing. Next door sold for £320k. Hampshire

4 bed detached.

Ayrshire

North east- 4 bed detached in a nice area

4 bed detached, 2 reception, conservatory etc. North Sheffield eg S5.

A 2-bed flat. Southern commuter town.

A 2-bed terraced house in the least desirable areas would be upwards of £350k.

I'm central belt of Scotland and you can get a ten year old 3 bedroom house in a very good school catchment or a 4-5 bedroom house of a similar age in a reasonable catchment area round here for £300,000.

Probably just about afford the foodshop to put in the house (London)

£300,000 would get you a bungalow with two bedrooms, on a large estate in the nearest town.

Around here, nothing... mainly because it is so sparsely populated, and land and properties very rarely go up for sale! (North Wales)

You can get property under 300k in the South East.
