VB's dress on Mrs Burnham - horrible

I'm not a fashion expert and I really don't care much for it but this was the most horrible dress I have ever seen. Even on a coathangar bodytype like VB herself it wouldn't look good but on an average body it's just hideous. That's 850 £ unwisely spent. She could and should have gotten a dress from M&S for 50£ and actually looked good.

Should she have worn something that hides her stomach do people think? Would that have been better? Or would there then just be a need to find something else to criticise about her. By women for women and all that.

Excellent point. This is about sexism, not politics. Women who are politicians or married to politicians of all stripes are subject to criticisms about their appearance and failure to get their names right that their male equivalents aren't.

It's not "blown out of the water". Judge AB by his politics, not his wife's dress - or worse - her body shape in said dress.

So women who are less curvy are not real women. Right. But then we have Andy telling us men can be women. 🤣

Exactly this ! Anyone can look fabulous in a nice dress well cut suited to their morphology. This was not a nice dress and didn't suit her at all. I can't believe all the posters being outraged about the discussion about that. I'm close in age and morphology with the lady in question and this thread was something so superficial as treating a choice of dress. Ofcourse the escalating war in Iran is more important to think about. Or restricted abortion rights in many US states. Or the many unnecessary deaths in UK maternities due to them being understaffed etc etc. Sometimes it feels good to just think about something completely superficial like a dress...

But why should she dress like she earns £25k when she's a highly successful woman. She's the wife of the PM and presumably earns very well herself, I'm surprised for such a day she didn't spend more to be honest.

Agree! It was ugly. What a hypocrite family, feed the hungry, help the homeless, project for the poor, but here’s my wife in her £850 dress.

Agree it’s a superficial decision, “which dress do I wear?” and superficially, the style and colour did not suit her and I do not like VB as a designer. But come on, you are supporting the man in the most famous role in this country after the King. I don’t much like how they presented themselves, too much The Greatest Showman and his circus in town.

Or Primark? Maybe Sainsbury’s? They were selling dresses in B&M not long ago. That would have done.

You can believe in all those things and still be a high earner you know. Hardly hypocritical.

Something else. I read an article by Hillary Clinton in which she said running for president would mean that her clothes and hair would be scrutinised in a way the male candidates would not. She was correct.

It was appropriate for the occasion.

It feels unfair though as Ms Burnham isn't a public figure herself. It's different to criticising someone like an actress at the Oscars or Met Gala, for instance.

She's a warm toned Spring wearing a dress in a colour meant for a cool toned Summer. Her hair is also the wrong shade of blonde. If you look at photos of her with more golden tones in her hair she looks far more beautiful.

However it clearly isn't the most horrible dress ever. it just wasn't her ideal choice of styling. She still looked perfectly nice,

Me too, there are numerous other pics of her online looking cool & fab.

Let's be honest - the first thing you see is her belly because of the colour and the bad fit. I wouldn't go out looking like that but if she's happy with it then 🤷‍♀️.
