VB's dress on Mrs Burnham - horrible

I'm not a fashion expert and I really don't care much for it but this was the most horrible dress I have ever seen. Even on a coathangar bodytype like VB herself it wouldn't look good but on an average body it's just hideous. That's 850 £ unwisely spent. She could and should have gotten a dress from M&S for 50£ and actually looked good.

She's a warm toned Spring wearing a dress in a colour meant for a cool toned Summer. Her hair is also the wrong shade of blonde.

And what’s Andy? I wonder if he’s had his colours done.

MyDandyUmberDuck · 20/07/2026 20:58

I didn’t like the fabric but I did learn VB does dresses in my size whereas I’ve never looked before just assuming they were for model types.

It's really not human nature to be unnecessary online about the way another woman looks in a dress. As someone has already said, not every thought in your head needs to be shared.

You can say that about anything. We can all just keep our thoughts to ourselves but then MN wouldn't exist. I don't think ANYONE can look good in that dress. That's not misogynistic.

Exactly this ! Anyone can look fabulous in a nice dress well cut suited to their morphology. This was not a nice dress and didn't suit her at all. I can't believe all the posters being outraged about the discussion about that. I'm close in age and morphology with the lady in question and this thread was something so superficial as treating a choice of dress. Ofcourse the escalating war in Iran is more important to think about. Or restricted abortion rights in many US states. Or the many unnecessary deaths in UK maternities due to them being understaffed etc etc. Sometimes it feels good to just think about something completely superficial like a dress...

Publicly insulting a woman for her appearance and encouraging others to do so isn't feel good fun, no matter how you dress it up.

‘Sisters’ FFS. She’s now in the public eye. I don’t think saying an outfit doesn’t suit someone is betraying any bollocky ‘sisterhood’.

We comment on fashion because it’s visible, not because we dislike the person. There’s a difference between discussing a dress and attacking someone’s character or appearance.

She wore a bad dress that did her no favours. People are going to comment. It’s human nature.

Well women are attacking her appearance arn't they, i mean Keirs wife was wearing a dress that resembled a large trench coat but that is apparently height of style, Andy Burhams wife wears a dress that is a bit clingy around her stomach and it is a free for all!

Why the 'gotten' and the euros?

Well he's a twat regardless of what he wears.

EverytimeItPours · 20/07/2026 21:01

Why do we care about her dress? I couldn’t care less what she was wearing or what she looks like. Poor woman having to contend with this.

Difficult to do men but if thats his natural hair colour then I'm guessing a winter.

They might be in your size but that doesn't mean they will look good. The thing about using extremely skinny women modeling dresses (like VB herself) is that you never see how a dress really looks like on an average woman.

It feels unfair though as Ms Burnham isn't a public figure herself. It's different to criticising someone like an actress at the Oscars or Met Gala, for instance.

Of course she's a public figure now, she's the wife of the Prime Minister.

I'm sure she and her husband discussed the repercussions of what he was doing when he put himself forward and they both decided that they were prepared for it.

NewGoldFox · 20/07/2026 21:03

£850 for a dress - ridiculous. Just shows how completely out of touch the lot of them are.

She should have bought if you prefer. £ is not €.

NO!!! Not a warm toned Spring wearing a dress in a colour meant for a cool toned Summer!!!!!!! And her hair is also the wrong shade of blonde.

When will people realise how important this sort of thing is?

Honestly, the country is going to the dogs.

Glittertwins · 20/07/2026 21:05

It doesn’t fit properly as it’s too tight across the middle and not tight enough around the top. It’s a bit like a reverse sack. The whole design is poor and there’s a lot more available that is less expensive and better cut and fitting.

She must have liked it on herself as she wouldn’t have worn it.

Or maybe she’s diverting us from looking at Andy's politics and it’s all part of a masterplan. Muahaha. We don’t care who you have instructed as chancellor Andy, your wife needs to get her colours done, she’s a warm toned Spring don’t you know, not a cool toned summer. We know what’s important here.

Rituelec · 20/07/2026 21:05

True, but nobody puts the £ after the number around these here parts.

The sleeves look cheap as well. She would have been better with The Fold Salerno dress in vibrant blue.

AnonyMumAuDHD · 20/07/2026 21:06

Only been PM’s wife for a matter of hours and already the vultures are out.

Women supporting women. Grand concept, isn’t it?

I couldn’t give a monkeys what she is wearing. I only care what her husband does with his newly acquired power and influence.

TheOutlier · 20/07/2026 21:06

Price tag is the epitome of champagne socialism. Other than that, it’s pretty harsh to judge her - she’s just the wife of a man who has committed a political coup. She’s not a model! Although apparently she was the coolest girl in college when they met at Cambridge. Tough life!

Something else. I read an article by Hillary Clinton in which she said running for president would mean that her clothes and hair would be scrutinised in a way the male candidates would not. She was correct.

Maybe we should try and change that rather than joining in?

I am not sure the dress was a good choice at all, however I couldn’t stop looking at her face - absolute ball breaker. She looks FIERCE. I can’t work out whether that’s a good or bad thing for the country….

Andy stepped up with a suit at least.
My heart sinks at the whole god damn thing. The standards of this country spirals and to me this is the epitome of how far we have fallen. No scrutiny. A guy no one knows in a coronation - talking about nationalising when we have £3 trillion in debt. Despair.
