VB's dress on Mrs Burnham - horrible

I'm not a fashion expert and I really don't care much for it but this was the most horrible dress I have ever seen. Even on a coathangar bodytype like VB herself it wouldn't look good but on an average body it's just hideous. That's 850 £ unwisely spent. She could and should have gotten a dress from M&S for 50£ and actually looked good.

No. Serious amateur. Once people know you can sew, you find yourself making costumes for plays, party dresses and goodness knows what.

Standard these days though - I won’t even pay ME&EM prices for what is essentially plastic, never mind VB. It was lining fabric in my dressmaking days…. I do prefer a proper natural fibre.

The leopard print swing dress the OP posted and referred to as ‘awesome’ is 95% polyester. That’s the dress I was talking about.

Nothing says working class man of the people like your wife wearing an £800 dress. Honestly, who advises these people?!

I like Mrs Burnham but I don't rate VB as a designer. I don't think she can design for anyone above a size 8 and Mel Cs wedding dress looked like a nightie and VB makes people wear trousers that hide their feet. It's like feet are something embarrassing.

£850 on a dress? It just goes to show that most of them are out of touch champagne socialists. No doubt this new pm will be increasing everyone’s taxes even more. They can clearly afford it if they can afford £850 on a dress 🙄

In her place I would have chosen an environmentally friendly bin bag and a charity shop belt. On brand, Grounded. And on board with the homeless messaging. It would have looked edgy.

A VB dress was a shocking choice.

Frankly I couldn't give a toss what she wears. However, for the wife of a left wing pm who has repeatedly spoken about the impact of the CoL on the ordinary people of England and Wales, to wear a frock costing £890 on move in day is more than a little tone deaf.

A good start and let's hope we see far , far more of it. It will bring Labour more quickly to defeat.

Most of her dresses look like bias cut petticoats.

(Cost aside) why can’t women just wear what the hell they want because they want to (like the colour, feels good) without being publicly scrutinised and criticised? Is that where your mind goes when you see people - straight to a critical place? is that what you do to yourself? How would you feel if your choice of dress was publicly criticised and scrutinised.

I think she ‘s an example of women doing well in their careers while bringing up three kids ,living with double mastectomies choosing and paying for the clothes they wish to wear and turning up for a photo shoots with their husband . Not bad all in all.

mhm, i have a similar figure, similar age too. I am not the vainest but have a good capsule wardrobe. When I attend anything where I need to look somewhat put together e.g. bigger meetings, conferences, bigger events for my teens, I make sure to wear something that's at least not the opposite of flattering.

This is a badly chosen dress, not sure how you can get it that wrong, looks like a bridesmaid number and tight in all the wrong places. this was an important moment in the public eye, she looked silly.

Is this supposed to be another dress that would look great on absolutely ANYONE?
