VB's dress on Mrs Burnham - horrible

TheBlueKoala · 20/07/2026 19:42

I'm not a fashion expert and I really don't care much for it but this was the most horrible dress I have ever seen. Even on a coathangar bodytype like VB herself it wouldn't look good but on an average body it's just hideous. That's 850 £ unwisely spent. She could and should have gotten a dress from M&S for 50£ and actually looked good.

Well at least we know for sure that you’re trolling now OP.

Some of the posts on this thread belong in Heat magazine in the 90s, “circle of shame “. Someone zoomed in to see her ‘knicker line’ and someone else posting a view from the back for more scrutiny. Jesus.

Women get judged on what they wear waaaaay too much. Let’s stop eh?

Ok this suggestion shows you’re the last person to be giving style advice, of course she can’t front up in that, it’s cheap looking and a shapeless sack.

What on earth is going on, there is a thread on Lilly Allen and women ripping her body apart and now burnham wife for her clothes choices.

whats actually wrong with you, where you judge another woman, mand start a thread to tell everyone just how much you judge her,

this is a huge day for her, it will be terrifying, shame on you.

Agree with you, this thread is showing yet again the nasty side of Mumsnet. People need to stop policing what women wear.

Absolutely and as the op is clearly clueless in style advice given her markies dresss suggestion, she really shouldn’t be starting threads slagging off other women,

I’ve not seen anything designed by VB that’s attractive tbh.

I thought she did a reasonable job with her dress at Brooklyn's wedding. It needed a jacket for parts of the wedding, but it wasn't too bad as she had that embroidery which gave a bit of the weight and structure her designs often lack.

Perhaps you could email her with that suggestion.

I don’t really rate VB as a designer. This is proof that her clothes really don’t work on normal women.

What do you mean normal women??

Cheeseandolivesplease · 20/07/2026 21:50

I couldn't give two figs what Ms van Heel wears. I am far more annoyed regarding the assumption that she is Mrs Burnham!!

TightlyLacedCorset · 20/07/2026 21:50

I don't like the colour, but other than that I think the dress is fine! I think she looks fine. But of a tum showing, but so what? It's normal.

I'm going through menopause myself now and my own body has completely betrayed me, it literally feels and looks like somebody else's. The fat distribution has completely changed and my clothes do not hang right anymore, so I think some allowances should be made.

Yeah if you’re auditioning for a part in Amish wives,

myeyelashes · 20/07/2026 20:56

Let's be honest - the first thing you see is her belly because of the colour and the bad fit. I wouldn't go out looking like that but if she's happy with it then 🤷‍♀️.

I agree. I am a size 8-10 but with a belly on me and if I had £850 to spend on a dress that was going to be worn for such a high profile event and photographed like it was, I would not have picked that dress in a million years! So many more flattering options out there she could have opted for - and way cheaper too.

Anyahyacinth · 20/07/2026 21:51

This is a kind of playground bully kind of post. As others have said she wasn’t there as a model. This kind of nonsense whilst the world literally burns is what holds women back. Trivial and contributes to how we are dismissed as humans

Women are different and that's perfectly fine.

I actually quite like that.

BUT I don't agree it would look good on everyone and it isn't suitable for a PM's wife. She'd have looked like an extra ballerina from the opening scene in Coppelia.

But I could be encouraged to channel my inner milkmaid in that ...

Grammarnut · 20/07/2026 21:52

AnonymityAnonymity · 20/07/2026 19:47

It's not particularly flattering but I don't like her any the less for wearing it. It's only a dress and what she is like as a person is the important thing

£850 for that? And shows that Burnham and his ilk know nothing about how most people live. If Mayor of Manchester's wife can spend £850 on a dress then politicians are paid too much.

Well to be fair they tend to change pretty quickly so I was glad enough that I knew the name of the PM.

She is not like some of the other politician wives dollies. Ordinary humble looking woman, given birth to now 3 adult children. Whatever. Who she is is not important. Lord save us from her husband

All of us? I have 30J boobs, you think they’d fit in those little triangles? I would look hideous in that dress.
Plus it’s horrible.

Brightlittlecanary · 20/07/2026 21:54

TheBlueKoala · 20/07/2026 20:07

Ofcourse none of us have perfect bodies. I don't. That's why I said that only a coathangar could wear it (and I still think it's horrible) - it's def not made for a normal woman who actually eats food which might not come as a surprise since it's VB. But to pay 850£ for the shite..

Wtaf are you posting, shame on you.
