Has anyone actually seen a ghost

Not, caught something out the corner of your eye or felt a presence, I mean actually seen one, spoken to one etc?

im aware this sounds woo. I don’t think I do believe in them, never seen one but ppl I have spoken to say they have.

maybe some ppl are more receptive to these things or maybe it’s a trick of the mind?

just be interested in anyones experience really

A dog went up my wooden stairs the other day, except both of my dogs were sat with me at the time and there was no other animal in the house at the time (I checked in case something came in). One of my actual dogs heard it too and looked up, but didn’t go and see. It came back down a little later. I am in my family home where many dogs have lived

I’ve had an encounter in the least woo location ever….. Basingstoke & Deane borough council offices. Just to put another spin with a location which isn’t as far as I know spiritual and lacking history. This was about 25 years ago where both myself and a colleague saw the torso of a man stood next to us wearing a buttoned up work shirt. Would love to know if he’s still seen today.

That was definitely a dream. Why would a ghost get into a bed or sleep? How come your husband never saw it?

That isn't an argument. No-one can ever prove a negative. If I tell you there are blue honey monsters floating around, you can't prove that there is no such thing.

The fact remains that people have been trying and failing for centuries to prove ghosts actually exist. Doesn't that tell you anything?

I'm hypersensitive and have experienced supernatural events. I guess you can't convince someone unless they've experienced the same and that's ok. One day it will all become clear to you..

I am a nurse and I find it really amusing that people say ‘they do not exist’ when we can’t possibly prove it one way or another.

one of the rooms on my previous ward - the alarm would go off all the time, for no reason at all. Estates couldn’t find the problem, but many people had died in there. It happened almost every night. When we took breaks in there, I always felt like someone was watching me. The hairs on my arm would stand up and I would feel someone behind me. Of course, I never saw anything.

one night I looked up and saw the outline of a man who looked like he had strange skin. Turns out, the ward was an old burns unit (I didn’t know this at the time)

there were lots of strange things on that ward.

I may have told this story before

Years ago,I used to live in York (born and bred)

Anyway I used to take toddler dd (she's 19 next week) to meet my father in town every friday,we would go do his banking (he's old school) get some flowers for my mother,go for a coffee and we might go to m&s for a few jars of jam

This Friday she insisted on taking her 'new' (charity shop) toy dog teddy (this thing was as tall as she was) with us to show grandad and he mentioned that he needed to go to a shop that was near York minster (neither of these things had happened before-he hates shopping)

We wandered up and the shop had steep steps up to the doorway,so I said I'd wait with dd (and this dog) outside while he got what he wanted

My attention was taken by her 'woofing' at me through the dog,when she suddenly dropped the dog and started waving at a little girl aged about 4/5 who was at a nearby (very old building) window,looking at us and was sobbing her heart out

My father (who couldn't be less woo if he tried) came out of the shop and back to us

He saw the little girl too,so I said id go over and let her parents know their child was at the window and upset

I left dd with grandad and knocked on the door

A lady answered and I explained

'Oh you've seen her too?'

'What do you mean?'

Turns out during the black death (which hit york hard),they would lock familes in a room and put a red cross on the door for 40 days (anyone left alive would be let out)

This little girl must have been locked in and died-shes often seen,crying her eyes out at the same window

I had to go back and explain-my father was that freaked out,he refused to admit he'd seen her and almost sprinted to get away (very impressive for my father as he suffers with a bad back and arthritis)

I spoke to dd about it the other day,and she remembers waving at her in a vague sort of way but did describe her as a 'little dark haired girl,with ringlets and a white 'old' nighty' which is what I'd seen too

Yes,it's private

It's a bloody old house (the joke being,'if something is older than poor grandad,you know it's old!' and its definitely older than him)

It's very close to the minster and I was sat on a wall or a bench (I cant remember but its wasnt comfy) while he went in to buy whatever he'd gone in for so was just at the right angle to see her

I've never seen my father go so white so fast and he ran away (he can barely walk at the best of times-he started with arthritis and a bad back and then cracked his head open by falling down the stairs,so he's not in the best of health)

Adult dd asked him today if he remembers and he said 'no' but she said the look on his face said differently

In his head,if there's no logic,it didn't happen (he's not woo in the slightest)

A house I lived in had a poltergeist, I never mentioned it to the neighbour's so there is no way they could have told any future occupant. The next occupant
who I have never met had an identical experience to me . A mutual acquaintance told me what she
had experienced .

Hmmm that story has been told several times on MN with varying details. Very similar, same keywords - little girl "sobbing her heart out" and "ringlets". Sometimes blonde, sometimes not. And crying about a lost key because it made her family homeless...in York.

Yes twice, when I first moved into my house 9 years ago I saw a ghost cat, it jumped off my tumble dryer and vanished midair. It looked like a black cat but sort of see through.
Three years ago on Christmas Eve I was walking home from work in the dark, nobody about because it was Christmas and I saw a dog .. Again very hazy and I remember thinking why is there a Labrador in the middle of the road… It was walking towards me and then just vanished.
Ive never owned a black cat or a Labrador so I have no idea why this happened.

I covered a locum position at a hospital in the Midlands where the hospital had an old building left from when the place was a workhouse. It was used as offices.
The cleaners told me that when they were working in that building sometimes they saw nurses walking about. These nurses had really old-fashioned uniforms with big white head-dresses.
They weren't scared at seeing what they took to be ghosts.

So many stories which are not only what you would call ghosts but telepathic messages/cold loving touch/able to do something unnaturally physical/de ja vue/warnings.

Some things can't be scientifically proven.

Go to the minster and on the corner is a bookshop (I'm not sure if it's still there-i moved away 11 years ago)

We where sat opposite the bookshop

To the right is an old building-that was the building where we saw her

I'm not sure I agree with that.

Most people I know that have claimed to see a ghost have been laughed out of town - until those that mocked have seen the same thing as well !

Yet no-one has given a scientific explanation....

If this is aimed at me,I've told those stories a few times on here,using the same 'keywords' a few times

Sarah brocklebank is a very well known tale-i didn't know it at the time and just know what I saw (blonde little girl.with ringlets)

I admit to having drank a beer but I wasn't pissed (I would be now)

The girl near the minster has been seen by more than just us (dark ringlets)

I was born and bred in york-i don't live there now but it's well known known for being haunted-there are a few ghost tours that happen most nights (well worth it)

A lot of people from there will tell you what they've seen-my father doesn't believe in anything that's not logical and he saw her too

I can assure you I have no reason to lie about what I saw-lots of others from/have visited have too-are we all liars?
