Not, caught something out the corner of your eye or felt a presence, I mean actually seen one, spoken to one etc?

im aware this sounds woo. I don’t think I do believe in them, never seen one but ppl I have spoken to say they have.

maybe some ppl are more receptive to these things or maybe it’s a trick of the mind?

just be interested in anyones experience really

Another one, not me but someone I used to know. She was a seer and very psychic, so much so that the county police consulted her whenever they hit a dead end in a case. Occasionally she'd be flown abroad to help someone who'd heard of her abilities, but she was old school and always refused payment for her services; she believed she'd been given these gifts to help people and she stuck to that.

Anyway, one day I asked her how and when all this started. She was around 40 and had a heart attack, and when they were putting the paddles on her she left her body and watched from above as her body jerked up, then down, and her head slammed back against the table.

When she woke up in the ward she kept seeing people in olden style clothes walking around the ward and asked the nurse who they were and why they were in fancy dress. The nurse couldn't see them but after a bit of chat admitted that other people had occasionally mentioned the same thing. They figured it was nurses who'd been there in the past as there'd been a hospital on the site for a long time. And that was how it started. She said it freaked her out for a long time as it happened spontaneously, she'd see things, know things on a daily basis and spent a long time coming to terms with it and working out how best to use it. Said she got great help from the spiritual churches, they were the only ones who didn't act like she was weird. She was an amazing lady

You don't jerk up and down when you have a defibrilation. That's a made up thing for dramatic effect in films. So, she was either dreaming or making things up for effect.

When I was about 6 I was going to bed, hadn't even laid down yet and I saw a farmer type figure sitting on my table by the window, looking at me. He was wearing a tunic and straw hat, with some straw in his mouth. There was a weird winding sensation thats difficult to describe too. I ran downstairs to get someone and he wasn't there when we got back. I thought it must have been a ghost at the time but who knows? Woooo! If it was, why would they have been upstairs? It no doubt used to be farmland though.

It was 25 years ago or more when she told me so I may have some of the details wrong. What I do remember definitely is that she said the back of her head slammed on the table, because she guessed that's what may have activated the whole caboodle.

Perhaps she needed vigorous chest compressions. It' a fascinating story! How accurate was she in the facts she was able to provide to the police?

I believe they heard about her and asked her to go with them to a place where someone had been killed and see what she picked up. They didn't tell her what had happened, just that they wanted to test her. It wasn't something that had been made public either, so she wouldn't have heard about it elsewhere. She described the event (her going there not the death) to me, but I really don't remember the details after all this time.

It seems she described the events pretty much as they'd suspected, and added some extra info.. I never asked her about any other cases, not my business, but she did say that after initial skepticism they would consult her occasionally. I don't think it's the kind of thing the police would like to be known publicly.

I seen something that I just can’t explain at work. I was working alone, locked in my workplace and I seen a figure across the room from me. I have never been more terrified in my life

BakingNana · 15/02/2026 00:35

Moved into a house aged 4 and thought we were sharing it with an old woman in a small room upstairs that was used mainly for storage. She was just there, not transparent or scary. Never looked at me. Asked my mother several times but was told there was no one there, none of my sisters or brother ever mentioned her. Moved out when I was about 12, she was still there, just sitting near the window in a nightdress and dressing gown. I called her Bessie.

You are a better woman than me! I'm a nosey bissom and would have demanded details of everything 🤣

My husband is quite psychic though he isn’t really interested in why. He used to tell me he’s seen various things quite matter of factly. One house we were living in he told me there was an old woman spinning in a corner of the bedroom. We later found out that there had been an elderly woman living on the house for a while. She was the elderly mother of the man who lives there and he brought her to live with him. She used to spin on a wheel. We knew nothing about this at the time.

Many years ago I was driving up to see my cousin (she’s my cousin but best friend and sister I never had rolled into one) my car broke down, the rac man came out but wasn’t hopeful being able to fix it but said he’d give it a go. He tinkered around sat in the car to start it, it wouldn’t, then and this is where it gets weird the sun came out and there was a smell of cigars! And my car started!! Now the sun bit isn’t weird but the cigar smell was as there was no one else around where the smell could have come from! My uncle (her dad) had passed away several years before and he smoked cigars! So I dunno I always kinda believe that he stepped in to help 🤷🏻‍♀️

You can have an opinion that they don’t exist but you can’t state factually that they don’t because no one knows.

Silverswift · 15/02/2026 13:25

We have had lots of strange encounters over the years. When me and hubby first got together (second marriage) I was walking down the stairs and something flicked my hair, it's as if someone had flicked a rolled up ball of paper at it, there was no-one there but hubby saw my hair flick up. Also in the same house the mechanical oven timer would go off randomly when no-one had set it. We also sat in the kitchen once and jokingly said 'Is there anyone there' the phone rang once and stopped (I used to say it was my Mum)

My son who nearly died in a motorcycle accident once saw a woman in victorian dress with a large hat on his staircase, he later saw a photo of women dressed similarly at an old community centre in the place where he lived and said that's what she was dressed like.

My mum passed away when she was only 50, I was 18 at the time. I had a vivid dream a few days later where I met her in the house she died in, she was dressed in white robes and asked me how my Dad was coping, we had a chat about things, I still believe she came back to reassure me that she was ok.

You can have an opinion that they don’t exist but you can’t state factually that they don’t because no one knows.

You absolutely can, I’m afraid. The burden of proof is on the person making the claim, and precisely none has ever emerged, despite investigations, research, widespread public interest, the Randi prize, and almost everyone having a device capable of taking photos, video and audio permanently on their person.

What can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence, Russell’s teapot etc etc.

Haven’t seen a ghost myself but my Mum and me had a very rare evening out together on one of her works Christmas dos. Was at the bar and this man approached us - he was a bit sheepish but said he didn’t want to come across strange but wanted to ask if we knew someone - he described my Dad including his height, build, hair colour, texture etc even down to his accent and knew how he died - we don’t discuss my Dad so there was no chance he had earwigged on a private conversation. He said he had to approach us as he said my Dad had an arm over each of us and was so happy we were getting along (sometimes volatile relationship with my Mum). Freaked me out if I’m honest but you can’t fake what he said and did. So whilst I didn’t see it, I definitely believe now.

I had a very similar experience.

Ten years ago, I was going through a particularly messy divorce. I had gone out for a meal with friends. We had literally just ordered drinks when a man came to the table and said to me “this is going to sound really odd but my wife really needs to speak to you”. I turned round and there was a woman
sat at a table across the room looking at me.

I laughed but agreed to speak to her for a few mins. I sat at her table and she started to tell me that when i had walked in to the restaurant , I had been surrounded by a glow that she had spotted straight away and described it as protection by a female force. At this point I was giggling until she said to me that a woman was stood next to us, being very forceful in wanting to get a message to me. She preceded to describe by maternal grandmother in detail who had died over 15 years earlier - her name, description, …she then called me by the nickname only my grandma called me….at this point she had my full attention as there is no way she could have known this. She asked me gently “you want to give up, but you mustn’t. She wants to let you know that she is with you and you will get through this”. She described a dream i had had of my grandma and said that was her way of letting me know she was here.

anyway, i have waffled on for long enough but she told me enough to make me a firm believer

No. They don’t exist.

People that have seen them
a. Believe in them
b. Imagine them.

How do you know?

Obviously you can’t prove a negative. But all the many paranormal events that have been properly investigated have all turned out not to be paranormal at all. You would have thought there’d be at least ONE!!

It is in the nature of paranormal events that they are in the moment, often personal, and not replicatable. It doesn't mean they don't happen.

Not a ghost but an odd experience

Im going back 28 years (in april)

I was giving birth to ds1 and had tonsillitis (which turned into quincy)

I have very short labours and had been huffing and puffing away (no drugs) for about 20 minutes

I suddenly left my body-i could feel my arse touching the ceiling,I could feel my nighty on my back,my slippers on my feet and I could see myself labouring away but had no pain (I was also watching my ex and the midwives moving around the room)

Next thing I know, there was a 'whoosh' and I was pushing him out-bloody felt that!

The midwife told me 'you've done a good job there' I honestly hadn't felt anything until I went to push

Weirdest experience of my life

Well, actually if you’re making a claim - that ghosts DON’T exist - the burden of proof is still on you.

What did you see please @Lesina ?

Many people saw a hand moving in my previous house. It 'scurried' like a rat.

Several members of our family saw it and so did other visitors. A cleaner and the chimney sweep also saw it and they had no previous knowledge of it. All different times of day and night.

Everyone described it in exactly the same place, moving in exactly the same way.

😮😯😮

I saw a dark man at the top of our stairs as a child. He was silhouetted against the sunset in the window of the room behind him. He had a hat on, and the light shone between all the places where his joints would have been. It terrified me and I’ve never forgotten it. I was six at the time - this was the 1980s.

As an adult I once saw mention of ‘shadow people’ and googled and found out about the ‘hat man’ which apparently is a fairly common vision/night terror. I wasn’t asleep though - I remember running downstairs in terror.
