In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 68th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from previous threads…
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

We are the 17th. I love having more time before Christmas so very happy.

MrsHamlet · 05/12/2021 20:57

We're the 16th thanks to the jubilee day being the Friday :)
Back on the 4th.

WhenSheWasBad · 05/12/2021 21:02

Congrats echt

phleba so glad you went to the police. School is just not dealing with it.

We finish on 17th. Very much looking forward to it.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 05/12/2021 21:44

We finish on the 22nd too.
Not looking forward to those last 3 days.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 05/12/2021 22:06

We finish on 17th, skiing on 20th.

echt · 06/12/2021 05:59

Good on you Phlebas, though Shock you should have to do this.

Thank you all the well-wishers. I felt elated doing my last reports, knowing I'd never have to do something so worthless again. Reports in general aren't worthless, just ours.

I'm back from work now, and feel a little odd that I have nothing to do, that my evening tonight and non-working day tomorrow will actually contain no schoolwork, so used to school leaking into my unpaid time.

I reckon I can handle it though.:o

DanglingMod · 06/12/2021 06:27

Enjoy, Echt! Wine

eitak22 · 06/12/2021 18:16

Well done Echt! You've made it, Hope you enjoy your free time :)

winewolfhowls · 06/12/2021 19:07

Echt, congrats on the nearly finishing, im sure many of us are envious!

Phleb, so sorry to hear about your daughter that's absolutely horrific, I hope she is recovering somewhat but how can she if the school are allowing her attacker to more or less get away with it? Well done for police, keep channeling that tiger parent.

DreamingofBrie · 06/12/2021 20:27

Phlebasconsidered, I think you've done the right thing by going to the police. I really hope that the school are forced into action. It sounds as if they are hoping it will just go away.

Something similar happened to my dc last year and dh and I had to fight hard to get any action taken. I was so disappointed by their reaction.

DreamingofBrie · 06/12/2021 20:28

And Echt, what a milestone! Do you have something to move onto, or are you going to see where life takes you?

echt · 06/12/2021 20:37

The plan was to do some travelling, in part with my DD, but Covid has Casta cloud over that. Even interstate travel here is unreliable, with borders opening and closing. A ton of stuff to do at home, simplifying my garden, to future-proof its manageability. I'm also training as a volunteer guide at an exhibition house, so something different to keep me on my toes.

I'll so some supply work next year to keep my registration as a teacher, and then review where it's something I want to do.

chocolateisavegetable · 06/12/2021 21:11

Phleb I am so sorry for what happened to your daughter - it sounds horrific, and the school definitely handled it extremely badly.

echt how very exciting! I am on countdown myself - I handed in my notice last week and now only have 2 weeks to go!

noblegiraffe · 06/12/2021 21:12

How did you manage that, chocolate?

JanglyBeads · 06/12/2021 21:19

Do TAs only have to give a month’s notice?
(Think I’m right that choc is a TA? Apologies if not!)

eitak22 · 06/12/2021 21:24

Think my contract is a months notice (I'm a TA) although my head would not be happy to only have a month.

@phlebasconsidered hope your DD is doing OK, definitely right thing to go to the police. Can't believe how little the school are doing!!

chocolateisavegetable · 06/12/2021 21:26

You are correct Jangly - I am a TA, so only need to give 1 month's notice Smile

noblegiraffe · 06/12/2021 22:21

And one week of that is a holiday!

What are your plans, choc? Hope your reasons for leaving are positive.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/12/2021 08:48

That is shocking Phleb! I think even the snapchat messages would result in an exclusion of some sort at my school let alone an assault leaving serious injuries. Hope you have documented the visits, the threats to dd via minions and the snapchat stuff - I'm sure you have - as well as the injuries.

I'm glad the police are taking it seriously and I think I'd now be writing to ofsted and the board of governors with copies of all the evidence and the case number and copies of all your emails and logged phonecalls and the complete lack of response from the school and stating that she was being deprived of an education due to their refusal to take safeuarding and peer on peer violence seriously.

Bloody hell! Seriously shocking.

I've been awol recovering from overreaction to booster jab and get through mock ofsted deep dive preparations. Non work day today and marking to do.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/12/2021 08:48

Oh and congratulations echt!

cornercupboard · 07/12/2021 20:27

I've finished my 10 days isolation but still feel rubbish, so I'm off the rest of the week. I feel like I've walked into a door repeatedly. Cough has mostly gone thankfully but doing anything is too much trouble.

Phlebas I am so sorry to hear about your dd's experience and I hope you got some sense from the school today?

echt woo hoo! and chocolate woo hoo too!

chocolateisavegetable · 07/12/2021 20:41

@noblegiraffe

And one week of that is a holiday!

What are your plans, choc? Hope your reasons for leaving are positive.

Actually, I am lucky enough that two weeks of it is holiday! Notice in on 3rd December, so I don't go back on the 4th Jan, and we break up on the 17th (although I'm not convinced we'll last that long).

Not sure what I'm going to do next - need to get my health (mental and physical) back on track. I'm fed up with getting ill, fed up with insufficient measures to keep us safe etc etc.

Corner sorry to hear you feel rubbish - hope you recover soon Flowers

Piggywaspushed · 07/12/2021 21:00

Take it easy corner.Lots of my colleagues are back from Covid and in some kind of shock I think at how bad they feel.

DanglingMod · 07/12/2021 21:22

Anyone heard from Staff at all?

MsAwesomeDragon · 07/12/2021 21:23

@Piggywaspushed

I agree with piggy. You have to take the recovery slowly if you've been properly ill with it. A couple of my colleagues tried to come back too early (teacher guilt for not being there) and have ended up needing to take more time off later. One ended up with pneumonia and was off for 3 months in total.
