Sixty-Eighth Republic - still under temporary guardianship…

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/11/2021 16:26

In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 68th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from previous threads…
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

Thank you very much MrsHP!

CallmeHendricks · 01/11/2021 16:40

Thanks Mrs HP.

CarrieBlue · 01/11/2021 16:45

Thanks Mrs HP! Please can we add Why Not Wednesdays to the booze roster to get us over the hump?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/11/2021 17:00

I've rearranged my management time for tomorrow so I at least don't have to stress over not being in for my class. It swapped a couple of people around, but definitely the least stressful option for everyone.

I obviously won't get any work done at home though. Typical.

HobnobbingAboutHobnobs · 01/11/2021 17:02

Or Might-as-well Mondays?

Appuskidu · 01/11/2021 17:06

Thank you for the new thread-sooo tired today, and we have parents evenings this week Shock

Sureitwillbegrand · 01/11/2021 17:12

Thanks for the new thread. I'm still struggling can't stand for long periods of time without needing a sleep and feeling breathless ☹️. Hoping I wake up magically better tomorrow due back at work in 2 days.
@RuleWithAWoodenFoot - hope PCRs are negative

motherrunner · 01/11/2021 17:30

MrsHamlet · 01/11/2021 17:41

Thanks MrsHP

Mistressiggi · 01/11/2021 17:51

Greetings all

motherrunner · 01/11/2021 17:52

@MrsHamlet

Just plugging in the CO2monitor. Thanks MrsHP
What’s it recording MrsH? Are we all full of hot air 😆
MrsHamlet · 01/11/2021 18:08

I couldn't possibly comment!
We got an email today to say "they're here. Don't touch them. They won't make a noise. We don't know what we're looking for so just ignore them"

Monkeytennis97 · 01/11/2021 18:16

Yup learning walked here too by the Head today. DH has had so much stuff shoved on him today. Half term, what half term??!

WhenSheWasBad · 01/11/2021 18:58

Yikes to the learning walks and parents evenings.

Are the test results back yet rule?

DrMadelineMaxwell · 01/11/2021 19:24

We had a training day (Excellent teacher course, very good and also entertaining!) today so tonight it's time for the fear.

It's also been parents' eve online tonight and tomorrow.

Hitting the ground running!

Hope Staff is ok!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/11/2021 19:51

So, me and child are negative, partner positive. So obviously he swans off back to bed leaving me to deal with school drop off and pick up chaos. Parents evening Tues, Wed and Thurs until 6, so will have to change all my appointments because after school club finishes at 5.30. He was on drop off and pick up all week.

He's much more precious about the whole covid thing than I am, so is obviously also now doing panic. He's such a doom merchant.

DanglingMod · 01/11/2021 20:15

That's rubbish, Rule.

Thanks for new thread, MrsHP.

Anyone see the ONS stuff about 25% of 35-54 year olds not complying with SI rules when Covid positive? I bet some of those are parents of primary aged children threatened with unauthorised absence codes if they don't get their kids to school!

JanglyBeads · 01/11/2021 20:29

Yeah and that’s precisely the age group who probably need test centres open til late if they’re to get a PCR because of symptoms (well and 20 somethings).

So you’ve got full instructions Mrs H?! Great….

HarrietDVane · 01/11/2021 20:34

Shameless place marking - hope Staff is ok.

That's rubbish Rule Sad

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/11/2021 20:37

if they don't get their kids to school

I have no idea how I'm going to get my child to school on Friday, next Monday or next Tuesday. I can pick her up from after school club, but might have to book her in to breakfast club - but that makes me late for school every day.

A stressful week ahead... at the end of which I'll probably catch covid.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/11/2021 20:39

A breakfast club starting at 8am and ASC finishing at 5.30 are actually no good for teachers children are they? I need to drop off at 7.30 latest, and pick up at 6pm. This is why I also need to be part time.

JanglyBeads · 01/11/2021 20:43

Autumnal gift for all you weirdos who like Cillian:

Hercisback · 01/11/2021 21:14

Thanks MrsHP.

I can usually do pick ups for 5.30 but drop offs would be a nightmare without my husband doing them. I know teacher couples that are stuffed at times. They have to come up with a plan for parents evening clashes etc at the start of the year and get their heads to agree to it as they have no family support.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 01/11/2021 21:25

Weirdly, the one couple who are going to be able to help us out most are both teachers - they stagger part time days though.

eitak22 · 01/11/2021 21:36

@RuleWithAWoodenFoot that sucks. Hope you manage to avoid getting it.

name Hope you managed to get through the day and it went OK.

I'm currently failing at making a birthday cake for DH. :(
