Sixty-Eighth Republic - still under temporary guardianship…

In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 68th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from previous threads…
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

Thank you, I do feel ill but not as bad as some of my colleagues with it. My TA and the HLTA who covers my PPA have also gotten it--fully opened windows only go so far I guess.

BitterTits · 16/12/2021 20:46

Not that we isolate in England as contacts anyway, but the goodwill has gone - not a chance I would volunteer for any such thing. On top of no pay increase and no sensible mitigations, we have been observed and criticised to the nth degree by a couple of members of SLT with a very suspect agenda and our usual early finish on the last day has gone without consultation. Minor things, but I just feel so unappreciated already.

rainingcats · 16/12/2021 20:57

Sorry - I will rephrase and will say extra good luck to anyone who is working next week

noblegiraffe · 16/12/2021 21:06

Sorry to hear people catching covid, hope you all recover quickly.

Tough question on Teacher Tapp today. I went for Heroes.

JanglyBeads · 16/12/2021 21:25

Noble, before I clicked on the pic I thought the question was going to be something along the lines of “How do you think teachers most deserve to be described after the last 18 months?”

noblegiraffe · 16/12/2021 21:29

Grin that would have been an easy question!

Piggyinblankets · 16/12/2021 21:29

It was weird to put that questions after the Qs about whether we should give sweets to kids...

I'm a Quality Street girl.

Piggyinblankets · 16/12/2021 21:30

A year 12 began a quiz question today with 'What noble and admirable profession... '

The answer was of course teacher.

noblegiraffe · 16/12/2021 21:31

Quality street used to be much nicer.

I gave Celebrations to the kids today and now I’ve got a tub left with the dregs of snickers and bounty.

noblegiraffe · 16/12/2021 21:34

Noble and admirable is what they’re saying about us on all those threads about schools closing.

chocolateisavegetable · 16/12/2021 21:35

It's my last day tomorrow, thank goodness. The attitude of some on MN has confirmed that I made the right decision. Also very pissed off that although the official line from school was not to sit right next to individual children (confirmed Omicron in the school) - I was told that I should be taking several children one at a time for 1:1 interventions because "everyone else is doing it." Well, more fool them.

My hat off to each and every one of you Republicans. I hope you can ignore the few offensive idiots on MN and know that you honestly are Crunchies, Wispas, Twirls etc

ChloeDecker · 16/12/2021 21:54

Actually love a Bounty…

WhenSheWasBad · 16/12/2021 22:00

I try and ignore bits of mumsnet chocolate

Some people are just really, really stressed and unhappy since Covid started. Some are just very unpleasant.

Can’t believe you like bountys chloe I went chocolate orange. But anything other than bounty would be fine. Grin

JimmyGrimble · 16/12/2021 22:37

Thanks everyone. It’s not too bad apart from the bone shaking chills and the tiredness. Feeling a bit better today Xmas Shock ho ho ho!

eitak22 · 16/12/2021 23:11

Ferreo Roche all the way although the hotel chocolate chocs have gone down well this eve.

What! Snickers are the best ones!
TheHoneyBadger · 17/12/2021 04:30

I was going to say that Beach Grin

Mind you I also like the creme egg ones that are in celebrations I think and I can do the bounties if I have to.

echt · 17/12/2021 07:08

Proper last day, with speeches and all. It was really touching to hear nice things being said about me, and though I say it myself, I made a good speech back. Lovely (enormous!) gift tokens from staff, and the school sub-branch of the union.

What is best of course, is the comments and good wishes from colleagues.

The day was rounded off with a late lunch at a colleague's house with the inner circle, and retired lovelies.

Excellent way to go. Smile

MrsHamlet · 17/12/2021 07:26

Congratulations @echt

DenbyChina · 17/12/2021 09:48

Congratulations @echt.

There is a really nasty thread about school closures not linking so don’t report me Grin in which staff should be working unless we’re at death’s door because it’s for the children.

TheHoneyBadger · 17/12/2021 09:59

Yet spending a couple of hours in the evening with your own children going over their home learning would be a ridiculous imposition!

Congratulations Echt. Well done for all your years of service. No idea of your age or if it's early retirement but I'm sure you've paid your dues.

I've a teacher friend who is also a dive instructor and boat crew in Port Douglas if you ever want an adventure with a discount.

I'm bizarrely drinking port and feeling like it's late evening because I've been awake since 2am. Should all balance out somewhere along the line.

CarrieBlue · 17/12/2021 11:13

Posted on that thread @TheHoneyBadger but just wanted to reiterate - thank you for your post

Beachhuts90 · 17/12/2021 12:01

Congratulations echt!
