Sixty-Eighth Republic - still under temporary guardianship…

MrsHerculePoirot · 01/11/2021 16:26

In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 68th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from previous threads…
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

phleb I'm so sorry. Police would be my go to. I don't know what else to advise. You're doing the right thing keeping her off.

That science school in London where the head said he was going to refuse to implement masks and was much lauded by U4T has just been put into special measures and the head has left.

That's actually very interesting as the constant prep for tests does sound like an extreme version of many schools . It's how I feel about what has happened to education.

That’s an interesting read-so much corruption!

I wonder if the free school HT’s wife posts on here? Grin

ChloeDecker · 04/12/2021 11:45

Wasn’t this the school constantly used by the current govt as a beacon of what schools should be like and was constantly used for advisory purposes too?

Speaks volumes.

Piggywaspushed · 04/12/2021 12:04

Yes the curriculum review used them as a case study.

echt · 05/12/2021 07:56

That's it. I'm done. Sort of.

Last marking. Evah.
Last report. Evah.

Next week is cover lessons only.

I went to the police. I'd phoned and requested a meeting to get her back to school on Monday asking that the other girl not be on the bus. They haven't got back to me. Then the girl in question sent abusive snapchats showing her and her older sister making punching motions.

So i spent yesterday looking at their bullying and safeguarding policies as well as KCSIE and phoned the police. Who agreed that given the injuries and hospital safeguarding it should have been sent to MASH immediately they knew about the severity of it. Peer on peer is a big thing and absolutely fuck sll consideration has been given to her. The girl in question was out playing football as normal in my dds team this weekend.

I will give them the chance to respond at school but i'm prepared to go to the trust and OFSTED. I think that as dd is not as clever nor as perfect in class as the perpertrator(chatty and a bit slower) they have decided to victim blame. Plus they sent her home with concussion! I imagine they are fudging paperwork while they put me off. Earliest meeting is Tuesday, a full week after the attack.

Police advised to get cctv which just shows you they know about the family.

I'm getting more and more angry. I've sent 8 emails, had 3 phonecalls, sent hospital evidence and still no meeting. I have sent all of that to the police. They agree its a classic escalation from ostracism, verbal to physical. Perpertrator had been careful about social media before (always careful to be out of the eyes of teachers and leave no evidence- i've managed her in guides though so I know what she's like) but is now greatly emboldened by her success.

Any advice would be welcome.

noblegiraffe · 05/12/2021 11:22

Bloody hell, phleb that's outrageous lack of action on the part of the school.

What's the complaints procedure? Governors next? (Should be on the website). That needs some sort of safeguarding review, sending a kid home with concussion after an assault.

DanglingMod · 05/12/2021 11:33

There is not a chance that this lack of care or lack of sanction would happen at my school.

We've had "good" girl punch "naughty" girl before. "Good" girl got 5 days FTE.

Head would be dealing personally with it, would be mortified your child was so badly injured and checking regularly on her recovery.

You did absolutely the right thing contacting the police.

phlebasconsidered · 05/12/2021 11:34

Its head, governing body, dfe.
I think as this is mostly safeguarding related it comes under that jurisdiction so it would be the LADO.

MrsHamlet · 05/12/2021 11:53

I can't get my round the school ignoring you @phlebasconsidered
In my school it would be dealt with by the DHT at least and we'd have excluded the perpetrator immediately. I think I said earlier that the last time something like this happened, it was 15 days.
When they came back, they had a minder at breaks and lunches, and a year half move. They were PXed not long after.
I'm appalled. Your poor daughter.

noblegiraffe · 05/12/2021 13:04

I'd escalate now rather than waiting for school to respond, tbh Phelb, they've had long enough and there seem to be major safeguarding failures that need investigation even if school now take it seriously.

phlebasconsidered · 05/12/2021 13:17

I think I will, then. They have OFSTED due! You'd think they'd be on it!

DollyMixtureLulus · 05/12/2021 18:18

That’s horrific! I hope you get it dealt it with.

I’m so tired 😢 when do you all finish? We’re the 22nd. It seems so long away still.

twinkletoesimnot · 05/12/2021 18:54

We're the 17th.

22nd is very late!

noblegiraffe · 05/12/2021 19:45

We are 17th too. Normally I would prefer to break up a bit closer to xmas otherwise the holiday seems very rushed at the end, but I think I will feel differently when the 17th comes round!

MsAwesomeDragon · 05/12/2021 20:03

We finish on the 16th, which feels very early, but it can't come soon enough. 22nd is very late.

DanglingMod · 05/12/2021 20:17

Same, Noble. I prefer to have more holiday after Christmas than before it or it doesn't feel long enough.

This year, I wish we were breaking up on Tuesday Grin

Medra · 05/12/2021 20:54

I’m glad you’ve gone to the police Phleb. At our place they’d have been excluded for more than a day and had a ban from the bus at the bare minimum. We’ve had kids banned from the bus for far less.
