In the absence of staff and her fabulous thread titles and witty openers here is a 68th thread. The broom cupboard is overflowing so time for another Republic. Hopefully we hear from staff soon.

Stolen from previous threads…
'You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.'

Congratulations on finishing echt and chocolate. Mu colleague saw our senior tutor, who retired in the summer, in the supermarket and she said she's never seen him looking so happy nor healthy. Do let us know what you get up to next!

It's wonderful to finally be on break. So sorry to those of you who will be isolating over Christmas, and I hope those still with days left in school have a smooth ride to the end of term next week Flowers.

Mistressiggi · 17/12/2021 13:53

Happy escape day Echt and Chocolate too.
We've finished up now for the holidays.
And I've finished a week's ban for being an awful human being so am able to post again.
If @JanglyBeads is around I want to message you about Skype, please!

ChloeDecker · 17/12/2021 14:47

All done here - Happy End of Term to those finished and to those not, Happy Start of the Weekend!

Although I was given the Christmas gift of Cover today sigh! And it was a blinder too-bottom set Yr 10 Science with cover work of ‘revise for your test that will be in the New Year’.

Felt I was being trolled on that one Grin

noblegiraffe · 17/12/2021 15:03

Hope you put on Nativity instead, Chloe, because that’s what the lesson would have been if the teacher was in!

noblegiraffe · 17/12/2021 15:33

Check your PMs Mistress

Sureitwillbegrand · 17/12/2021 15:43

@noblegiraffe can you message me about the Skype as well

Appuskidu · 17/12/2021 15:56

Me too please, @noblegiraffe!

WhenSheWasBad · 17/12/2021 16:33

@noblegiraffe

Please could you message me for Skype too.
I tired to join in the summer but Skype refused to believe I wasn’t a machine.

schoolsweek.co.uk/zahawi-asks-strb-for-two-year-pay-plan-to-help-achieve-30k-salary-pledge/

What does a ‘flatter pay structure’ look like? One where we start on £30k and stay there??

WhenSheWasBad · 17/12/2021 17:02

Results are in. Terrys chocolate orange wins

Congratulations to those of you escapees!!! I hope your 2022 brings you new adventures and fun.

Made it. Just. Had yr7 last lesson, after they'd had PE. It was....um.... interesting!!

eitak22 · 17/12/2021 17:24

Well done for making it to end of term and for those of you with a few days next week sending lots of Gin your way! Massive congrats to our escapees wishing you all the best for whatever happens next.

Managed to get a booster at a walk in centre which is a good start to the holidays.

Medra · 17/12/2021 20:55

I am done for 2021 and I am boosted. I’ve actually had a really lovely day. Well done to everyone for making it this far and hats off to those of you who still have to limp to the finish line.

JanglyBeads · 18/12/2021 10:06

Hi all, wishing everyone well/.
Nearly the end of this thread!

BitterTits · 18/12/2021 10:48

Hi everyone. I've just popped in for tea and sympathy - I started the hols with a level 1 absence letter through the post. One absence was a PCR, one was a double medical appointment due to an initial misdiagnosis (I went back to work unwell in between) and the last one was when I had to get back on anti-depressants due to work stress, taking a grand total of two days to get back on my feet. On two of those occasions I'd been at work in the morning.

I love my job but I also really fucking hate it. How can I stop this ruining the holiday?

MrsHamlet · 18/12/2021 11:01

Well @BitterTits - that is truly shitty of them. I think you just have to file it mentally in the "person who sent this is a knob" bucket, and try to relax.
It's not your fault you were ill.

BitterTits · 18/12/2021 11:03

Would I have to disclose it on a job application? I just want out.

MrsHamlet · 18/12/2021 11:05

There will be an absences section but I think that's usually part of the reference. 4 days/part days is nothing though.

JanglyBeads · 18/12/2021 11:16

Ask yr union? Horrid timing, I’m so sorry.

New thread. Hope that's ok.

noblegiraffe · 18/12/2021 11:29

Shitheads to send that at the start of the hols without warning.

Surely there must be loads of staff with more absence than that. The printer would have run out of ink printing all the letters.

Mistressiggi · 18/12/2021 11:29

From my understanding of absence policies - there are very official triggers that lead to these letters. There is not a lot of leeway for heads to go around them. I had a meeting with an embarrassed line manager once about time I'd taken off due to recurrent miscarriages. It's just something they have to do. You would have a meeting at some point and explain what you've said here. Should the PCR one really be on there? That doesn't seem fair.
Your employers might well be heartless but what I'm saying is that even the nicest ones need to follow the policy. Flowers

TheHoneyBadger · 18/12/2021 11:35

Yes I do think they're sort of auto generated when you reach a certain score on that scale thingy and that scale thingy is very punitive to those of us who get back to school quickly/take minimal time off for a health problem as short absences generate more points eg. 2 short episodes is more points than a month off type thing. Try to not take it personally.

However isolating for a test should not be counted at all.

DreamingofBrie · 18/12/2021 16:17
Thanks Honey. See you there!
