You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

We are still waiting advice on chairs and masks but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays.Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask.

Tired and disappointed kids tomorrow.

DrMadelineMaxwell · 11/07/2021 23:29

@Mistressiggi

I'm just waiting for two of you to realise you're in the same school Grin
A couple of years ago my partner teacher and I were both posting in the staffroom on mnet. I recognised her from a description of the odd layout of her classroom and asked her in person whether she was on mnet. She said she was and thought she had recognised me from a post or two too.
RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 11/07/2021 23:42

I've got 2 Italian kids in my class. Eek.

WhenSheWasBad · 11/07/2021 23:53

My year 9s are going to be hell tomorrow.

Oh no!! Those poor kids.

I was dreading year 10, but at least none of them are Italian. They'll all be very tired though, and disappointed ☹️

Beachhuts90 · 12/07/2021 00:27

@twinkletoesimnot

I'm in East Anglia. I know 2 people who pinged today and were told to isolate for 3 days .... so does that mean it's taken a week to tell them? 🙄
That happened to me. Closing the stable door after the horses have bolted. Luckily it ended a couple days ago and I haven't got it.

I've got 1. Hoping he's sensible and doesn't try and brag as Bob won't take it well.
MrsHamlet · 12/07/2021 07:06

My boss is Italian. The head is "England til I die".
I'm hoping he stays away today so we can get some work done!

borntobequiet · 12/07/2021 07:37

Well done on the deductive powers!

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 12/07/2021 09:04

From what I can tell from Twitter, it looks like a bit of a lag with the test results. Possibly the testing system is coming under strain again with the volume of cases they are dealing with.

Piggywaspushed · 12/07/2021 09:37

Our school is a shitshow today. Loads off (football related I assume); loads of sixth form app pinged (allegedly) and another year 9 case.

No longer making national news so no one 'out there' would believe me but three local schools are either fully or partially closed.

I reckon we have over half of year 9 out and most of year 12.

MiniCheddarMuncher · 12/07/2021 09:53

Oooo, a real life meet up! Unless you all came to the SW I'd have to overnight somewhere, but that's cool bananas.
I feel so out of it, still off work with this evil morning sickness. I'm already docking future baby's pocket money!

DreamingofBrie · 12/07/2021 10:22

Hi all,
Glad not to be in school today! Didn't stay up for the match yesterday but sad that England got so close and didn't win. Ah well.

Alton Towers was great fun, very quiet. I've come to the conclusion that I'm ok on roller coasters as long as they don't spin, I don't have to go backwards and they don't have a big drop Grin. So no to Oblivion, but very much enjoyed Nemesis and the Smiler. And definitely no to the pirate ship or waltzers! Mine and youngest ds favourite definitely the rapids.

Hope all's OK in school today. Some of mine will be heartbroken. I'm glad not to have to listen to Sweet Caroline for the foreseeable though!

CallmeHendricks · 12/07/2021 10:26

Another one glad not to work on Mondays!

CallmeHendricks · 12/07/2021 10:55

Oh, and we have a bubble down!

CallmeHendricks · 12/07/2021 11:01

Just thinking about ID badge pics for a meet-up. Noble and I are easy (assuming she comes - maybe a pic of a giraffe disguised as something else, to fox any infiltrators). JanFeb's could have a pic of a calendar, motherrunner a pair of trainers.

This could work...

MsAwesomeDragon · 12/07/2021 11:35

Chaos at my school today, loads of sixth form sent home, loads of year 10 gone, half of year 8, and several year 7s. Sports day this afternoon for sixth form but most forms can't field a whole rounders team. The rest of the school have sports day tomorrow, who knows how many races they'll each have to run.

Appuskidu · 12/07/2021 11:40

DD has just been sent home again-allowed out on Friday which is the end of term!!

Meet up sounds exciting!

noblegiraffe · 12/07/2021 12:37

@JanFebAnyMonth

This would work
Grin

Mine would actually be a dick pic but there’s no way I’m posting one.

MrsHamlet · 12/07/2021 13:11

Mine will be boot boy

PumpkinPie2016 · 12/07/2021 13:16

Loads of 6th form and a fair few Y10 out hereSad

Y10 is hard as mine are a v low attaining group and need a lot of support. They don't log in to teams lessons and don't complete the work set so will be behind.

Saucery · 12/07/2021 14:15

Our (primary) pupils were little darlings this morning. Still full of beans from last night and happy but regretful. There was a discussion about “the cheating Italians!” but one stepped in and said we shouldn’t call them cheats because it wasn’t a nice thing to say. If only some of the adult fans could be like that Grin
