You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

We are still waiting advice on chairs and masks but keep the windows open. You don’t have to upload LFT results during the holidays.Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask.

@Medra

I’m God’s own county too *@CarrieBlue* born and bred.
I thought you might be from your day trip suggestion! I reckon we are not far apart in the country...
EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 11/07/2021 20:35

Hello everyone, hope you are all well WineCakeBrewFootball

JanFebAnyMonth · 11/07/2021 20:42

Hi Enemy, we’re discussing where to hold a REAL LIFE meet up! You might want to scroll back a little if you haven’t already. Smile

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/07/2021 20:46

I'm in Cumbria, I can meet MrsH on the train Grin. I'm happy to meet anywhere tbh, I'll even get a hotel and make a weekend of it if it's too far for one day.

GuyFawkesDay · 11/07/2021 20:49

Ooh definitely come to Stratford, it's 5 minutes from me 😁

HarrietDVane · 11/07/2021 20:50

I can see Born's hill from my house. I suspect Cant might be quite close by.

Oooh yes! I'm up for staying over if needs be too.
EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 11/07/2021 21:01

Omg. Real LIFE?? Is that allowed?!
... Must scroll back, thanks!

BigBobBoots · 11/07/2021 21:01

I did my degree in God's own country - loved it and miss it.
Barely left London for years now.

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 11/07/2021 21:04

Birmingham is doable for me

noblegiraffe · 11/07/2021 21:10

OMG Enemy!!! Long time no see, I was worried! How are you?

I think so too. As an aside, given your username - we previously lived in the village where Dorothy L Sayers' illegitimate son was fostered.....
cantkeepawayforever · 11/07/2021 21:17

Trying to place Born's hill....

GuyFawkesDay · 11/07/2021 21:51

Lickey Hills?

Teachers with puppies....how is it working out? I'm in a bit of a situation in that I've wanted a dog forever....and am very close to getting a pupster. DH works at home, kids are big enough to be sensible and involved.

Am in the "if not now, when?"

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/07/2021 21:58

GuyFawkes I love having a puppy!!!! He's gorgeous and cuddly and just do lovely! He's also a complete menace at times, loves nothing more than knocking dd2 (age 11) over and climbing all over (dd2 also enjoys this game, for a little while). And he gets up between 4 and 5 every morning for a wee, and doesn't always settle back down to sleep. He's been home for 6 weeks (I think, we brought him home the first weekend of half term) and we already can't imagine life without him.

GuyFawkesDay · 11/07/2021 21:59

See, this is what I need to hear. I would LOVE to train a dog as a therapy dog too.

MsAwesomeDragon · 11/07/2021 22:05

And he eats random things in the garden or when we're out for walks, which worries me massively, but he hasn't mastered "leave it" yet. He's doing well with training, but obviously not got great recall when there are distractions yet. I'm quite sleep deprived at the moment, as he really does need to go out at 4, and that is 3 hours earlier than I would normally get up.

borntobequiet · 11/07/2021 22:09

The Housman quote will give you the hill…

GuyFawkesDay · 11/07/2021 22:14

Ooh are you up Clent Hill or the Long Mynd?

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 11/07/2021 22:14

Aww shucks 🥰 I'm fine thanks, same old, same old.

I got a puppy recently as DH also works at home, and I'm going nearly full time next year - so have time at home with kids at school to train one.
Bloody love it. Apart from the 1am poo calls every night Hmm. First couple of week were like having a newborn again, but now it's just like having a 4th child!
Would love to train her as a therapy dog, but no idea how to go about it. She's so quick to learn - already brilliant at sit, stay, lie down, bed, off, wait, high five, heel, fetch, drop, touch. And only 5 months old! Basically will do anything for food Grin

GuyFawkesDay · 11/07/2021 22:15

Or Bredon hill?

EnemyOfEducationNo1 · 11/07/2021 22:18

Bredon??? Near me Wink

twinkletoesimnot · 11/07/2021 22:29

I'm in East Anglia.
I know 2 people who pinged today and were told to isolate for 3 days .... so does that mean it's taken a week to tell them? 🙄

cantkeepawayforever · 11/07/2021 22:32

@EnemyOfEducationNo1

Bredon??? Near me Wink
Lots of people near me, then. Did my final teaching practice in its shadow.
