You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

I am prepared to argue about Toy Story 4. It was a nice kids' film, perfectly entertaining, and it absolutely 100% SHOULD NOT EXIST.

I'm almost scared to ask, but what was wrong with Toy Story 4? You obviously feel strongly about this.
motherrunner · 20/06/2021 11:57

I cried at Toy Story 3.

DH and I took DC to watch Toy Story 4 when it was released. We were ‘meh’. Should not have been written.

TheHoneyBadger · 20/06/2021 12:03

GB news discussing schools and catch up plans.

Halfon on.

You have no idea! Grin

Toy Story 3 was the perfect end. A trilogy. Toy Story 4 shat all over that and split up Buzz and Woody!

Piggywaspushed · 20/06/2021 12:07

I bet he says 'four horsemen of the educational apocalpyse'

Yes! And once again it will be the women that’s blamed as it was all down to Bo.

(Feminist critique of TS4)

MsAwesomeDragon · 20/06/2021 12:11

Ok. I understand that as a reason to hate TS4. I haven't seen it, so didn't realise the split up Buzz and Woody!! That's shocking!!

ChloeDecker · 20/06/2021 12:15

And don’t forget the really freaky ventriloquist dummies

TheHoneyBadger · 20/06/2021 12:31

I don't understand why everyone is so shocked that we've sent year 11 home. They would always be finished with teaching by this point and they don't have exams. What did they expect us to do with them? Also this obsession with what time schools finish when they're all teaching the same amount of lessons but some are having shorter and less breaks.

We close early because we have a 40min lunch and no other break now.

What really killed our afternoon break was that different zones for breaks and staggered times meant that the number of duties required to supervise was higher than the number of staff available to do them. No one is profiting from us finishing early - certainly not teachers who are having manically packed days and most of us would far rather have decent breaks than finish 20 minutes earlier.

I don't know.

Timeturnerplease · 20/06/2021 13:35

Oh not sodding catch up again. If it all kicks off with isolations again, catch up will be the least of anyone’s concerns.

Speaking of, we’re not in a high case area but have just had to take DD2.5yo to get a PCR test. Is absolutely burning up, and wouldn’t even touch pancakes this morning (‘yucky today’ apparently). Someone told me results are taking c12 hours atm - surely that can’t be true?

If it’s just a nursery bug grandparents will be happy to have her tomorrow as they usually do four days a week, but if the results don’t come back I guess that means none of us can go to work?

JanFebAnyMonth · 20/06/2021 13:45

My DS’s only took 13 hrs on Friday, but it may vary by region. Hope your DD is OK.

Namechercanged · 20/06/2021 13:49

I saw TS4 and assumed teacher standard...

Beachhuts90 · 20/06/2021 14:04

Unpopular opinion, I do not like any of the Toy Story films. Too much peril for me as a child and still today Grin

JanFebAnyMonth · 20/06/2021 14:05

I thought the bit in TS3 when they’re on the conveyor belt to the furnace was horrible. Echoes of concentration camp maybe. I cried.

motherrunner · 20/06/2021 14:19

Me too @jan. it’s where they all hold hands as if accepting their fate that gets me. When DD was around 3 it was her fave film and we watched it everyday after nursery - was on mat leave with DS. Every day there were tears - from me!

motherrunner · 20/06/2021 14:20

And then sadly TS3 was replaced with ‘Frozen’ and I spent a year cringing to ‘let it go’.

noblegiraffe · 20/06/2021 14:22

Too much peril for me as a child

I saw Toy Story at the cinema when I was at university.

mother my DD's favourite film was Tangled, omg the bit where the king and queen realise that they've found their daughter who has been missing for 18 years.... 😭 😭 every time.

motherrunner · 20/06/2021 14:30

@noblegiraffe. DD watched ‘tangled’ at 3 and was fine til her long blonde hair was chipped and she turned brunette (DD had long gold curls at the time). The worst we had for years was ‘guardians of the galaxy’. The sandman is taken by away. DD looked at me and with a quivering lip asked ‘will he come back?’. I didn’t know, never seen the film. She sobbed in my arms. I learnt to bet all films! DS on the other hand loves a zombie film 😳

motherrunner · 20/06/2021 14:31

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 20/06/2021 15:09

PCR test results in 9 hours a few weeks ago, and back in Jan too.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 20/06/2021 15:19

I'd have been better off keeping that appointment this morning if it's 9hrs and bypassing work. Still waiting to be released by Occ Health.

Not sure if they have the result and haven't got round to telling me yet or whether they don't have the result.

JanFebAnyMonth · 20/06/2021 15:22

Yeah there is a lot of “peril” in Toy Story films isn’t there, thinking about it.

When DS was 2 we had to watch Cars every day (although he had to hold my hand when the combine harvester came out of the dark field!). Love that film.

Mistressiggi · 20/06/2021 15:45

I have spent the entire afternoon trying to repair the lift on an imaginext batcave. Have unscrewed half of it and now trying to work out how to wrap the cord round the disc thingy so that it actually elevate the elevator... I should have put ts4 on as background to see how it compares!
