You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement for school staff to let off steam.

Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

Do not give the staffroom password to non-staff as it attracts the wrong sort of crowd.

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation. Do not sit on the chairs and do wear a mask. Finally, upload your covid test results twice a week on Wednesdays and Sundays.

The first year my GP told me my precious tablets weren't suitable, I reminded him that he'd been prescribing them for me for ages. He then said it was practice policy and they weren't giving them to anyone. I then pointed out that he had in fact prescribed them for dh the preceding week so he said, "Oh OK then."
But the next year, I was out of luck.

I can see an asthma induced PCR heading my way in the next couple of weeks. If it could do it before my spare prednisolone expires at the end of July it would be good.

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 14/06/2021 20:43

I had incredibly bad hayfever as a child/young person. Managed it with all the drugs. I've had all the allergy tests as part of checking for coeliac, and found (surprise) that I was allergic to tree pollen only. I kind of knew that. Then the year I was pregnant, I didn't have it - just didn't appear at normal time. It's not come back... until this last week I've struggled getting enough air, bit wheezy - exactly as it used to be when I was a teenager. Not asthma, and no other symptoms - oh, and I don't have it at work in a city, just at home. Weird.

Classroom hit 32 today, so that was nice. How are the kids supposed to do assessment week in that?

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/06/2021 20:47

Is it worth watching the press conference or am I going to want to start throwing stuff at Boris?

Piggywaspushed · 14/06/2021 20:48

You will want to do that. He was even worse than usual. Since Cummings went he has become less coherent.

CallmeHendricks · 14/06/2021 20:59

He also referred to the new date for easing restrictions as July 29th, instead of 19th!
Arse.

I'm going to go with fuck no, that fucking fucker isn't worth one second of your time.

Appuskidu · 14/06/2021 21:05

motherrunner · 14/06/2021 21:08

Evening all.

I’m glad sports day has been cancelled for my kids too. I have bet sporty kids but I really cba to take an afternoon off work I paid to sit on a field for a few hours mindlessly watching g race after race after race after race ...

motherrunner · 14/06/2021 21:08

Very not bet

MsAwesomeDragon · 14/06/2021 21:08

@Piggywaspushed

We are still having our 300 strong year 12 induction week...
We had ours last week, but we aren't that big a school, we only had about 150 in the induction week. I've got reports to finish by Wednesday, and was confidently thinking I had loads of time as I'm supposed to have 3 lessons of gained time tomorrow which would be long enough to get the bulk done. But today I was asked to cover for the timetabler (who is working incredibly hard TBF) in one of those lessons, and my hod wants a meeting in another of them. So now I'm down to one lesson to write reports, which is definitely NOT long enough!!! I've still got 26 to do, at 110 words each Shock Looks like a late night for me tomorrow Sad
motherrunner · 14/06/2021 21:09

Unpaid ...

So many typos. In bed and have taken my lenses out!

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 14/06/2021 21:09

I've only done half of my reports. Due 28th though, so a bit of time. Got a PPA day tomorrow so might try and bash through some.

ChloeDecker · 14/06/2021 21:14

I’d just finished uploading my 9th class of KS3 reports on Sims today when a member of SLT then emailed about 30 mins later to say they couldn’t fit all the reports in the new design layout and could we write one sentence less on our reports. Due Wednesday.
Fuck My Life.

FFS that's awful!! I find removing sentences far harder than adding them. And with 2 days notice of the change? Ridiculous!!

This is the press conference I was watching on Friday. I meant to post it on the last thread because it might be relevant to the UK. It should be a source of embarrassment to this government that they can be regularly outperformed by a government that have spent years trying to decide how many secondary schools they want.

Dear SLT bod. No.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/06/2021 21:24

The MN no is a complete sentence coming into its own there.

ChloeDecker · 14/06/2021 21:27

I did genuinely shout out ‘No!!!!’ During lunch today and some year 10s next door asked ‘you alright Miss?’ Bless ‘em. At least they care Grin

I’ll take that gin tonight Rafals thanks. Wondering if I just ignore that email I might get away with it

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 14/06/2021 21:31

I accidentally deleted a work e-mail before reading it last week (genuinely). Just saying.

Loshad · 14/06/2021 21:38

Bloody hell are @ChloeDecker, that is truly shit timing from slt.

MrsHamlet · 14/06/2021 21:38

It's not just shit timing. It's piss poor organisation.

GuyFawkesDay · 14/06/2021 22:06

That's awful. I have 4 sets to finish this week and two the week after. I loathe report writing, I'd far rather just have another virtual parents evening and actually talk to people
